[/b] The round has been reset. The next round will reset in 48 hours. It seemed that Zelda was the only one to realize the simple possibility that turned out to be truth. If one had dared venture near the hole and look, they would have noticed that, in the direction of where Ashe had been, a tunnel had been dug. Its initial target, Ashe, had jumped away, so there was no chance of it getting at her, but the other, Zelda, had not taken a single step. That wouldn't work too well in her favor. As expected, it was right beneath her, and within but a moment, it tore through the grass, flying up and engulfing not only the area where Ashe had once been, but Zelda as well. The shapeless form closed in around the Princess before it began to retreat back beneath the ground with Zelda in tow. With a passenger inside, that'd take a few seconds longer, but she was still potentially in grave danger. Fortunately, it had managed to miss Link and Keldric, the latter only barely, not having noticed them approaching. But, given enough time, Zelda would possibly end up as breakfast. May want to stop that. What was more telling however, was when its eyes reappeared. As red as they were before, seven of them this time, but the cracks were gone. The orange glow that had appeared when struck by Keldric's sword and Zelda's previous arrow had also vanished as well. There didn't seem to be any permanent damage. At least not that one could tell in this shapeless form. Perhaps if it shifted back? Inside for Zelda however, it was black. Dark wasn't something that could be used to describe it. It was merely pitch back wherever one looked. For her, there was a feeling of pressure, followed by a burning sensation. A rather violent shudder ran through Zelda's body. She probably would've been really annoyed at having been right if the she weren't so abjectly horrified by what was happening to her. The princess gazed into the void with saucer eyes, all but frozen in place with a silent scream caught in her throat. A powerful state of panic had sent her train of thought careening off the tracks and not even the stinging sensation of digestion was enough to pull it back onto the rails. She had shut down rather hard, and there was no telling how well or how quickly she would bounce back. |

Ah, shit. She had jumped awa from the Princess and now she was being devoured by that thing. At least she knew where it was now... but it didn't help the overwhelming sense of dread in her stomach. She had to do something to amend herself. She'd be to blame if something happened to the Princess.
Ashe readied her lance and shouted down to the others, "Watch out!" Flames erupted from the tip and she dove off the building, spearhead first toward the creature's eyes.
She just hoped she didn't just help the creature cook its dinner.

[googlefont=Open+Sans] 守りたいものを守れるのなら [attr="class","firstfriend"] すべてを受け入れて 未来(あした)を探す Ziegess’ opportune escape was unexpected, it’d fervently burrowed itself deep into the earth; it made use of its’ newfound cover to launch an ambush. Alas, it’d managed to claim Princess Zelda as its’ victim, its’ inky mass consuming the Hylian Royalty before she could ever produce an utterance. Once it’d consumed its’ victim, it’d returned back into the depths of the earth for what felt like an eternity. In that time, Dieter had halted his advance towards Keldric as he witnessed him begin to rise to his feet and brandish his blade. Dieter elected to press his back flush against the back of the building, hidden from Ziegess’ view as he propped his spear against the side of the hut. He inhaled deeply through his nostrils, his eyes watering at the tentative pain to come as he grabbed his dislocated shoulder and thrust it upwards. He bit back an audible scream as he felt the bones scraping against one another before it slid back into the socket with an audible, gut-wrenching pop. He couldn’t even scream as liquid magma flowed through the entirety of his body, forcing him to drop to his knees, where he remained until Ashe had readied her halberd.
His knuckles slacked around his polearm for a second, a smidge of color returning to them as fresh blood went to the tips of his fingers. He awkwardly shuffled to the nearest building, gradually working his way towards Ziegress through the shadows, ensuring to periodically duck into a building if he’d felt he’d been exposed or let himself linger for too long. Once Ashe lunged forward, he darted beneath her, a few Deku seeds being generated as he ran, once he was within striking range of Ziegess, he let a few of the seeds drop to the ground and when the sudden flash cleared, Dieter was nowhere to be seen. However, that quickly changed as the ground contorted as he propelled himself up into the air. He flew up towards Ashe, ignoring her warning as he slid along her back side. He found himself peering deep into Ziegess’ eyes before his blade lashed out in a savage arc that intended to cleave another of its’ glowering eyes into two pieces.
Whether or not it succeeded, Dieter wasn’t going to relent. Ashe, Keldrics, and his own life were on the line. He knew for a fact that they could survive, but that didn’t mean he’d given up on Zelda either.

[/b] @keldric , STRIKE 1. Link is exempt due to a literal hurricane. Please keep Zephyrus in your thoughts & prayers, everyone. Admin Note: The round has been reset. The next round will reset in 48 hours. There is no posting order, always remember that. As Ziegess continued to digest its meal and slink back into the ground, it noticed Keldric and remembered his blade of light. A tendril shot out, wrapping around Keldric's right ankle and tripping him onto his back. The tendril melted through the armor and began to dissolve the skin. While it was doing this, another tendril shot out, raising itself up before sharpening and bringing itself down, aiming to pierce the heart of the Knight Captain. Inside, its efforts to digest Zelda increased, expending more energy for it. For her, her pain would greatly increase. But it would only last several seconds, as Ziegess found itself being blindsided. In its efforts to consume the princess and kill the knight captain, the amalgamation found itself being punctured and incinerated by the Dragoon. The spear pierced through two eyes, its fire burning them away to nothingness. Ziegess's mass opened, and sunlight hit the princess, it was clear that if nothing else, she was still alive. Of course for Dieter's part, sliding along the back of who was, as she herself might put it, in a "vortex of flames" if Dragonsong Dive itself was anything to go by, probably wasn't a good idea. Especially if you were a Deku. As one might expect, the guard slash dancer found himself on fire. On the bright (well, he was literally bright right now) side, his spear cleaved into the eye as expected, only instead of cracking, the eye and the black mass seemed to split and simply dissolved. Not even an orange glow this time, nor did it even regenerate from the blow. A being of magic was vulnerable to a magic killing spear. Who knew? Realizing how much immediate danger it was in, Ziegess abandoned its plans to kill Keldric and digest the princess. Taking its tendril, it simply flung Keldric through the wall of a nearby building. Keldric, now released, had shown some damage; his ankle flowing was blood from the dissolved skin, and the ankle of his armor was gone. But that wasn't the end, as he went crashing through some debris, inadvertently clearing it away before rolling several times and coming to a stop on the wooden floor of the house. It also finally released Zelda, realizing it couldn't slink away with its prize before being killed. As Zelda found herself ejected and thrown onto the grass as it retreated underground, the air of the breeze against her skin would sting. She looked horrible. Her armor and clothes partially dissolved and she herself was absolutely caked in her own blood. However, the keyword was looked. It looked far worse than it actually was. Her time spent inside ultimatey resulted in what could be considered a mass of papercuts across her body. Painful, may draw blood, but ultimately nothing grievous. She would be able to stand, and even continue fighting. Ziegess reemerged a ways away, beyond even the initial hole it had bored. This time returning to its original state, only it was much different. Four eyes remained, and on the far left side where one eye had been, there was only a large empty gash from which one could look right through, courtesy of Dieter's spear. Speaking of Dieter, he was still on fire. Princess Zelda @keldric Dieter Wolfram Link Ashenne [/font][/ul][/div][/blockquote][/td][td] A B A N D O N E D

The body has its flaws, but it is far better at healing itself than the soul.
Zelda couldn't really tell one sting from another. She was just... a tad bit overwhelmed with it all at the moment. Pulling herself up, she was immediately distraught by her condition. Really, if the creature had been paying any attention to her she probably wouldn't have been able to escape retaliation. She was sluggish. Burdened with both a crippling amount of pain and an overwhelming horror, it was probably unreasonable to expect her to accomplish anything. And indeed, someone who couldn't think straight couldn't possibly concentrate on shooting straight. Yet, Zelda's mind was not lost. She couldn't possibly keep calm through the sheer amount of distress she was in, but she had an emotional crutch up her sleeve. There was just one single emotion polarizing enough to pull her out of her current state. Anger.
And well, she had a lot to be upset about.
The princess staggered back on her feet and once she really started to overcome the initial tidal wave of shock, her terror was swallowed up by indignity, by resentment, by a single-minded desire... Finally, she caught Ziegess rising from the distance. It was admittedly hard to miss him. The princess brushed the back of her hand over her eyes to help clear them as best she could, Stepping forward and correcting her stance to take aim. With one fluid motion she brought her bow to aim and pulled back on the string, a light arrow crystalizing for her use as she corrected her aim. Once again she was aiming to shatter one of its eyes, but this time she didn't bother hiding. Instead, she used that time to... fire another arrow! And another! A fusillade of light could be observed flying from her position towards the monster, each arrow aimed at a different eye. Zelda was attempting to treat the creature to a taste of its own medicine by overwhelming it with a series quick attacks, in hopes that one arrow might hit before it had recovered from the previous one. She would have plenty of time to react to any attack it launched from that distance after all, leaving little reason to hesitate other than the briefest of moments to correct her aim. |

[googlefont=Open+Sans] 守りたいものを守れるのなら [attr="class","firstfriend"] すべてを受け入れて 未来(あした)を探す The Deku Spearman never once waived in his assault, suppressing the urge to swat at the flames that had caught on the edges of his billowing robes. The conflagration quickly spread, consuming the edges of his robes and licking at his skin, easily producing painful red whelps, threatening to blister if not extinguished soon. Fortunately, Dieter had already been descending by the time it’d licked at his skin and once he came in contact with the ground, he actually burrowed back in. The cool moist earth soothing the burns and smothering the flames quickly enough, albeit not soon enough that there wasn’t lasting damage. A few seconds passed before Dieter emerged from his impromptu asylum, electing to grab a handful unearthed clay and to tentatively coat the worst of his burns around his ankles. He knew that such a treatment was merely short term and only soothed the burn, if anything it created a risk for infection; he could still fight on though. By the time he’d emerged, Zelda had already recovered from her traumatic stupor and brandished her bow. She proceeded to rapidly fire sacred arrows, quickly filling the sky with a coordinated volley.
The Hylian’ princess was undoubtedly a warrior in her own rite; a fact that would undoubtedly come to aid them in the future. Dieter’s head craned in the direction that Keldric had been flung, uncertain if the armor-clad knight still drew breathe. Alas, he also didn’t have the time to worry about such things as he turned to face Ziegress once more. He swung his polearm in a controlled arc, brandishing it as he sprinted forward. Dieter made sure to duck in and out of buildings to ensure that he was never a stationary target. Plus, if anything he would serve as a diversion, if it was more concerned with dodging his polearm, it might ignore the impending barrage of divine judgement hurtling in its way. Even as he moved, Dieter chastised himself, he’d been careless and gotten injured more than a handful of times, yet he also saved another? Did such an outcome overrule the gross negligence on his part. Once he’d emerged from beside a nearby building, he prepared to dash at Ziegress, his intent was to deliver a glancing blow, to wear it down in a battle of attrition. ✉ | Sorry it's short, first post in a bit. |

A breath of relief escaped Ashe's mouth when she saw the princess emerge from beneath the black beast. She didn't appear to be too hurt and at least she was standing. Ashe couldn't say the same for Keldric. Things weren't looking so good for her captain... But be that as it was, her first priority was the Princess. She tried to remain by her side as the beast returned.
It was too far off now for her to be of any use, so she stayed by the princess and kept an eye on the others. This didn't look too good. She hoped to Din that at least one of Zelda's blinding arrows hit their target.

Ziegess's eyes began to move, but the rest of its body didn't. It seemed almost anchored down. Despite the speed at which it healed from before, even the light inflicted wounds, the blow from Dieter's spear was still there. As its eyes concentrated on its former meal, it took note of the incoming arrows, each aimed for its eyes. While the arrows punctured its mass and left burning, gaping holes, For each blow, its eyes moved to the right out of the way. It took a glancing blow from Dieter's spear, looking down as another small chunk of its body practically vanished into the night. However, it not moving seemed to be explained momentarily. The ground gave only a brief warning under Dieter's feet before black spikes shot up, aiming to impale the little Deku dancer. Meanwhile, one of its black arms shot towards Zelda, aiming to grab her and pull her back in so it could finish its meal and hopefully regain some of its strength. Zelda's anger... wasn't strong enough to keep her focused through this. Right before her fourth shot she came down from her cloud, the fact that each shot was missing registering with her brain. ...What? That didn't make sense! She'd been doing so well before! Far be it from Zelda to deny this new turn of events however, it left her with no remaining willpower to continue fighting with. This battle had gone on for long enough.
"...It's time to retreat." Zelda reluctantly stated, spotting the incoming hand reaching out to grab her as she spoke. Zelda quickly turned and shot the light arrow she had readied into it to disrupt its approach. Surely she couldn't miss that. She then quickly turned on her heels and met Ashenne's eyes very briefly before moving to flee. They'd be pretty lucky if they could even get Keldric out of here, let alone survive a continued battle with this thing, let alone defeat whatever it was. With all of their tools seemingly exhausted and the creature somehow combatting them a lot better in spite of the wounds she thought she'd dealt it, the choice to retreat seemed only natural. Clearly, she and her knights were in over their heads. With any luck, the others would recognize that the situation had grown grim and make an attempt for their lives as well.

Was being the operative word.
How the hell did he end up here? This was not Eldin caves. This was not Eldin caves at all.
That bastard with the obnoxiously large pointy had must've done something.
The dragon knight looked around his surroundings with nothing but confusion and anger on his face. A...village. A mostly destroyed village. Correction, a mostly melted village. It was almost like lava came through and ate the village, except without the fire that would come with it. Well....save for the fire on the small creature. Was it a deku? He thought that was the name. Hard to be sure though. You didn't see or really speak of them in the land of fire. Not that Lizalfos did much talking. They mostly hissed.
Then he saw two things that just amplified his confusion and anger. The first was the sight of the Princess fleeing the scene. She was bleeding, but nothing looked deep. Nothing life threatening. Yet she fled like someone on death's door. That was the current royalty of Hyrule? That was the Princess that was intended to lead all of Hyrule? "WEAK! PATHETIC! A LEADER WITH NO SPINE OR HONOR." he shouted almost on impulse at the fleeing royalty. It infuriated him to no end. Truly this land had no future.
The second thing was....a paper monster? It was black. Its body was as thin as paper. Yet the small creature seemed to be having quite a hard time with it. Parts of its body were torn, and there were four weird lights on the upper part of its body. They were probably eyes or something similar based on where they were located. He didn't know what this thing was, why it was here, or why it was fighting, but he did know one thing. Now that he was here, he intended to fight it.
Using the ruins of one of the houses to gain some height, he hefted the great draconic spear in both hands as he prepared to strike. Then, leaping from one of the roofs, he thrust the spear towards one of the lights, aiming to pierce right through its thin body to hopefully do some damage.

[googlefont=Open+Sans] 守りたいものを守れるのなら [attr="class","firstfriend"] すべてを受け入れて 未来(あした)を探す Dieter’s azure eyes narrowed pragmatically as the head of his spear cleaved effortlessly through Ziegess’ body, the glancing blow causing a chain reaction that resulted in a portion of its’ body simply dissipating into nothingness. Strangely enough, Ziegess remained motionless aside from its’ eyes shifting just a fraction of an inch to avoid being pierced by her holy-imbued arrows; it’d made no effort to avoid his strike. Ziegess remained silent, adamantly refusing to voice its’ outrage as it had done before with a deafening cry. However, the very earth beneath his feet began to tremble, a foreshadowing of its’ planned strike. He immediately shifted his weight to the front of his feet and pushed off the ground, effectively propelling himself backwards. His grip on his spear changed in the time it took him to inhale slowly, taking a controlled breath and masking his pain before he swung his spear in a controlled arc. Alas, one or two snuck by his blade or riposted off the shaft of his spear and made contact with his skin. One left a visible cut on his left arm, it wasn’t quite deep, but it had a steady flow of blood now trickling down his arm. The other grazed right leg and left a painful stinging sensation in its’ wake.
He didn’t turn to acknowledge Zelda as she issued the order to retreat, he couldn’t afford the luxury of diverting his attention from Ziegess. While his comrade in arms fled, another would raise in their place. A spearman like himself, although their choice in weaponry differed greatly. While Dieter’s spear was light-weight, Volga’s weapon was titanic. Alas, this newcomer brandished it with ease and didn’t hesitate to launch himself into the fray. Dieter breathed an internalize sigh of relief as he rushed forward, ignoring the pain radiating throughout his body as he began to retaliate with a series of quick thrusts. His feet pivoted as he spun about as if he were merely dancing, ensuring that he didn’t remain in one spot for too long. Such actions seemed effortless, but one could see on his face that the pain in his legs and his injures wore on him heavily yet if he retreated, he knew that he’d be its’ first target. Plus if Zelda desired to flee, she’d need time to collect her beloved knights; he couldn’t lift Keldric by himself.

"...It's time to retreat."
The words felt like a vice wrapping around his heart. He understood; the woman who uttered the command just experienced something that would most likely haunt her dreams. And those two with her, one of which suffered more injuries than the other, were bound to follow her order.
He couldn't. He wouldn't. Call it stubbornness or pride or sheer disbelief over what was happening; he'd stay there until he no longer could draw breath. If Ordon were to disappear because of the creature, what did that mean for the people who lived there? Were they, too, surrounded in the darkness of it, just waiting to be set free and see the light of the morning sun?
Light.
Looking over to his right, his eyes fell on the sword that the armored man (whose name escaped him) brandished before. It shined in ethereal light, most likely enchanted with power untold. Steeling himself and, at least, hoping to assist the deku who needed some more cover, he lifted the blade and ran forward.
Link's legs tensed as he jumped to reach one of the eyes of the creature. He wasn't alone; the new arrival appeared to be locked on to one of the eyes as well.
A prayer sent to the goddesses fell from his lips. His body descended, allowing him to bring the sword down into one of the eyes of Ziegess. Another prayer; please land the blow! MADE BY ★MEULK

[/b] Ashenne , Strike 1. Admin Note: The round has been reset. The next round will reset in 48 hours. There is no posting order, always remember that. If nothing else, Princess Zelda's retreat ultimately spared her from any further potential pain. Her arrow tore through Ziegess's arm, traveling up the limb and blowing it clean off. The burning orange grasped at Ziegess's shoulder as the eyes seemed to shift towards it as its mass began to regenerate. It would have pursued the princess, but the attacks from Dieter seemed to finally take its attention away from her, abandoning its breakfast, once and for all. It let out that roar that Dieter seemed to miss. Taking glancing blows at its base that seemed to vanish away. The shadow stretched, its arm grasping at the roof of the building it had thrown Keldric in. The power behind Volga's strike however destroyed any illusions of that. The blow to one of its eyes wasn't able to shatter it, but the crack that appeared stopped it as it seemed to practically trip over itself, its paper like form crashing into the ground with a surprisingly soft thud. Volga for his part found himself passing through the black mass, but didn't come out with any damage. Perhaps it could only dissolve when it willed it? This moment allowed Link's ordinary jump to actually reach one of the eyes. The blade of light coming down on one of the uncracked red orbs. That quickly changed however, as the blow not only cracked it, but caused it to completely shatter. Only three of them remained, and one orb was already damaged. Ziegess attempted to raise itself back up, but with only one arm, it was proving difficult to do so. Dieter Wolfram Link Ashenne Volga @open [/font][/ul][/div][/blockquote][/td][td] A B A N D O N E D

That seemed to do something. Despite the lack of any real anatomy, the monster's behavior was very human-like. It paused in what seemed like pain before collapsing...and him passing right through it. Volga was not really sure what to make of that, but the light orb was cracked. That meant he did something. He noted the orange dissolving at one of its arms, and its attempts at regenerating other parts of its body. The beast had some sort of healing ability, but something seemed to work on it in spite of that. As well, it seemed the small creature managed to inflict some lasting damage on the creature's "legs", or base. Whatever the small one's spear was, it had an effect on it.
Then another Hylian, this one much braver than their Princess, brought its blade down on another orb. His great spear only managed to crack one, but with a single strike that sword completely destroyed another. As it did so, brilliant light shone from the blade. Some sort of magic enchanted the blade with light. It had a much stronger effect on the beast than pure strength of arms. Was it weak to magic, or light in particular? The dragon knight wasn't sure, but he had a way to find out. And hopefully inflict some more lasting damage on this thing.
"Small one, stab at one of the undamaged lights with your spear. Hylian, do the same with your sword. I shall take care of the one I cracked." Volga quickly and calmly ordered to the two, with the familiarity of a commander with their troops. Pulling the ruined great sword from his back in one hand, he gave a solid swing in the direction of the cracked light. From the remains shot an arc of light spinning towards the orb. Dropping it in the same motion, his hand returned to his spear as he ran to the now ground-level target and followed up the beam with another stab at the light, intending one way or another to break it.
