There are many different races that populate the Land of Hyrule. Each of them are fascinating, from the trees to the water to the desert and all throughout, those who live in this land have their own tale to tell.
Here is a list of the playable races on this site.
A race of treelike people that spend their lives in the forests and the swamps of Hyrule. While normally considered a pest, they are intelligent and if considered "monsters" they are definitely on the more cordial side of the fence with the Royal Family. While small at times, they are not harmless. Deku normally live to about 50, but can go for much, much longer if they should hibernate.
They are currently led by the Deku King/Queen
Add the following abilities (and fill them out if required) to the magic section of your character sheet.
+ Bubble: By concentrating sap within their bodies, Deku can fire off bubbles from any opening in their body. While not exactly damaging, the sap's stickiness does a good job of slowing people down, if not outright sticking them where they are.
+ Deku Nuts: All Deku have the ability to produce Deku Nuts on command. How they use it from there is up to them. They don't really do much as a projectile themselves, but if smashed, create a blinding flash of light, allowing to momentarily disorientate any foes who do not shield their eyes.
+ Burrowing: All Deku have the impressive ability to burrow straight into the ground to escape danger. However, if need be, they can launch themselves up into the air with a surprising amount of force from such a position.
+ Lightweight: Deku are considered so light that they possess the ability to walk on water. This also allows them to glide, should they use their burrowing ability to launch themselves into the air.
- Wooden: All Deku are ultimately made of wood and as such, are highly vulnerable to fire.
The Fey. Woodland Sprites. The Fair Folk. There are a lot of names used to describe the Fairies of Hyrule. Scattered absolutely everywhere, their leadership is just as scattered. They are whimsical, and while they often enjoy helping others, it's not unheard of their more mischievous side to erupt, but very rarely do they take part in the world. They're essentially Elves with insect wings. Fairies are immortal. Just please don't do overboard with their age.
They are currently led by the Fairy Queen.
Add the following abilities (and fill them out if required) to the magic section of your character sheet.
+ Healing: Over a period of time, a Fairy can heal all wounds. While they can only heal minor cuts and bruises and such on a whim, more time allows for greater healing.
+ Resurrection: In the event that a character should be killed, the Fairy can sacrifice their energy to bring them back from the dead. This is so demanding however, that it immediately exhausts them to the point where they are effectively removed from the thread.
+ Ball Form: All fairies can take the form of little flying balls that make them smaller targets. They can switch between this form and their normal form at will.
+ Flight: Due to their wings, all Fairies can fly.
A hard people, the Gerudo have been rebuilding their reputation for the past 100 years ever since Ganondorf's scheming was put to a stop by the young Hero of Time and the equally young Princess of Hyrule. Since then, they have been dealing with Ganondorf's stigma. Barring the one male born every century who is made King, the Gerudo are all women, and the harsh life in the desert has made them strong. Gerudo have a lifespan of around 85 years.
They are currently led by the Gerudo King
Add the following abilities (and fill them out if required) to the magic section of your character sheet.
+ Wind Resistance: Due to a life spent dealing with the desert winds, all Gerudo take slightly less damage from wind based attacks.
+ Heat Resistance: The Gerudo are used to the blistering heat of the desert, and thus take slightly less damage from fire based attacks.
A peaceful race of honorable warriors that live around Death Mountain, Gorons are known for being open, friendly, reliable, honorable, and exceptionally strong. Being living stone, Gorons technically have no gender, but are considered masculine anyway. They also love sumo wrestling. They have a lifespan of around 150 years.
They are currently led by the Goron Patriarch
Add the following abilities (and fill them out if required) to the magic section of your character sheet.
+ Stone Skin: Due to Gorons entire bodies being formed from rock and stone, they have a natural suit of armor, slightly reducing the damage from physical attacks.
+ Fire Immunity: Gorons, being living rocks, are absolutely immune to fire, even able to wade in lava. There is only one type of fire that can harm a Goron.
+ Unmatched Strength: Gorons are inhumanly strong, and have no problem being able to lug and haul even boulders.
+ Rolling Spikes: Gorons not only have the natural ability to roll, but can cover themselves in spikes to do so.
- Weight: Gorons are extremely heavy, and absolutely cannot swim. Avoid water when possible.
- Water Vulnerability: As they are living stone, Gorons are vulnerable to the erosion of water, and take extra damage from water based attacks.
An average race with nothing really special about it, but noted for their round ears. They're said to have infinite potential but one's not sure if that's really the case. Humans can be found all throughout Hyrule and are considered the most populous. They have a lifespan of around 85 years.
They are currently led by the Human Duke/Duchess.
Humans have no racial abilities nor disabilities.
Once the most populous race, the past 100 years have not been kind to the Hylians. As time has gone on, their population has had a sharp decline, leaving them outnumbered by the up and coming humans. They are the race chosen by the goddesses, and many of the heroes of the world have been Hylians. They have a lifespan of around 85 years.
The Hylians don't have any real racial ability. They just have one extra magic slot to start with. Hylian superiority, man.
The Kokiri are a race of forest people. They are childlike in appearance, normally. Highly seclusive and nearly impossible to find, they are far more in tune with nature than most others. They are always accompanied by a guardian Fairy that watches over them. So long as they stay in Kokiri Forest, they are absolutely immortal, and will not age past adolescence. If they should leave however, they will begin aging, and have until about 85 to live. Returning to the Forest will not stop this. Due to their highly seclusive lifestyle, age has no real effect on how much they know of the outside world.
They are currently led by the Kokiri Boss
Add the following abilities (and fill them out if required) to the magic sections of your character sheet.
+ Floramancy: The Kokiri are able to manipulate plant matter, able to conjure things like vines or turn leaves razor sharp.
+ Guardian Fairy: All Kokiri are accompanied by a Guardian Fairy that is technically an independent entity, down to being able to be picked up by another player. Please just give us info on your fairy. While they do not have all the racial abilities of the Fairies, they can sacrificed (permanently) to revive your Kokiri for a free resurrection, should they fall. If the Guardian Fairy is played by another player, it will naturally have all racial abilities, as then it's just a regular character.
The Minish are a group of scattered tribes across Hyrule noted for their animalistic features (ears, tails, so on). Able to shrink down, they are notoriously difficult to track. The fact that they can also shift into the shape of a specific animal makes them doubly hard to find, as you'll never know if you ran into one or just an animal. They have a lifespan of around 80 years.
They are currently led by the Minish Chief
Add the following abilities (and fill them out if required) to the magic section of your character sheet.
+ Sizeshifting: The Minish are able to shrink down to the size of ants and back on a whim.
+ Animal Transformation: The Minish can freely switch back and forth between their humanoid form and their animal form, so long as it is mammalian. Please be sensible with your animal (in other words no whales).
+ Animal Senses: Anything that the animal would gain is also given to the Minish.
- Animal Senses: That being said, they still have all the vulnerability of animals.
The Oocca command the skies, and reside in the City in the Sky high above the land of Hyrule. They are a race of winged humanoids, their only outstanding feature being a large pair of bird wings sprouting from their backs or arms. Their minds are said to be so advanced that they can bend space with a thought. They have a lifespan of around 60 years.
They are currently led by the Oocca Lord/Lady.
Add the following abilities (and fill them out if required) to the magic section of your character sheet.
+ Flight: As all Oocca have wings, they can freely take to the skies.
+ Spatial Teleportation: The Oocca have developed the ability to instantly move from one location to another. Great for fast travel or needing to bail. This can only be used once per thread.
- Weak to Wind: While masters of the sky, the Oocca are still at the mercy of the wind. As a result, they take extra damage from wind elemental attacks.
The Twili are denizens unique to the Twilight Realm. Descended from the Dark Interlopers who were cast through the mirror and forced to survive in the alien realm, the Twili are naturally adept at magic in their own way. They have since evolved, and are noted for their blue skin and slightly elongenated limbs. They have a lifespan of around 85 years. AS OF THE END OF THIRD STEP OF YOUR STRIDE, TWILI MAY NOW ENTER THE LIGHT REALM THROUGH THE MIRROR OF TWILIGHT.
Add the following abilities (and fill them out if required) to the magic section of your character sheet.
+ Shadow Meld: Twili, being denizens of shadow, can freely meld and merge into other people's shadows, allowing them a way to hide from others.
+ Shadow Beast: All Twili have the ability to revert back and forth between their Twili form and a more bestial form at will. Please note their form here. Please keep this within reason. Nothing crazy like dragons please (unless they're really small, like slighter bigger than the Twili small).
- Weak to Light: All Twili are vulnerable to light. They take extra damage from light elemental attacks, and cannot survive in sunlight.
The Zora are the unparalleled master of the water. They roam the rivers, lakes, and even the ocean itself, claiming it as their own territory. They are fishlike in appearance and in function. Many of the best musicians in the world have been known to be Zora. They have a lifespan of around 120 years.
They are currently led by the Zora King/Queen.
Add the following abilities (and fill them out if required) to the magic section of your character sheet.
+ Water Mastery: The Zora's incredible flexibility makes them so adept underwater that there's nothing short of another water based creature that can match them. Any member of another race fighting a Zora in the water is just not going to win, not without luck.
+ Bladed Fins: All Zora have rather sharp fins. When need be, they can extend them and use them as bladed weapons.
+ Electrical Barriers: One of a Zora's biological functions is to erect a barrier made of electricity. While it can give a painful shock, it can't actually stop any physical attacks. It can however, disintegrate minor magical projectiles.
- Weak to Ice: Zora are warm water fish, and as a result, take extra damage from Ice based attacks.
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."
The truth is you can't fight it. People will always find a way. A Hybrid is when two races who are biologically compatible get together and make a baby. When this happens, the child will have some physical features of both the parents naturally, but they will have a dominant side, which is where they get their racial abilities.
The list of biologically compatible races are as follows.
-Fairies
-Gerudo*
-Humans
-Hylians
-Kokiri
-Minish
-Twili**
* While Gerudo can produce a baby with any of the others, their Gerudo genes "overwrite" everything else. Thus a Gerudo child will always be another full blooded Gerudo.
** Twili are biologically compatible, but no Twili hybrids exist. The only way a Twili hybrid will ever come into the world is through the old fashioned way. THIS MEANS THEY'RE NOT PLAYABLE.
