What were those barbs made of!? They tore through her armor like butter. But noting how that creature was dissolving the building into nothing, it shouldn't have been much of a surprise. Ashe hissed through clenched teeth as the pain seeped in. She could feel the blood trickling down her back, which would make her armor uncomfortable. Sticky with sweat and blood... bot unpleasant feelings.
Ashe made sure she stayed with the princess and took cover when she did, though she stuck out a bit more behind the corner so she could keep an eye out for more danger. Her lance readied, she focused on Ziegess. She could leap up to him, or jump on a roof to get a better vantage pointbut that seemed incredibly stupid. She just hoped the arrow would be enough to at least stop it from devouring Dieter.

The resolute knight remained completely still even as razor sharp blades of unknown material cut through his shield. Whether due to the magical enchantment on the shield, or the quality of metal, prevented the projectiles from piercing through entirely. Sure that none more were raining down on them, Keldric lowered his shield to chest level and glanced over his shoulder at his companions. Thankfully his quick thinking had spared the Princess any harm but Ashenne had taken a few hits. He grimaced beneath his visor, disappointed that she didn't avoid the attack. From his position, he couldn't assess the damage done to her and so wasn't sure if she was a liability or not. It was worrisome that the monster had so quickly reacted, unlatching from above and plastering itself into a nearby building. His head snapped back to watch the dark amalgamation with rapt attention. If memory server him correctly, the house that the creature was dismantling was the place where an unknown projectile had been launched from. Maybe. While quite good at multitasking, the prior darkness had limited his vision. Though not entirely sure, it was the most likely scenario as the monstrosity didn't seem like it would attack all out so randomly. Keldric moved back with the Princess as she went to find a better place to hide and draw protection from. Slightly out of view from the mass of darkness, the Knight-Captain busied himself with removing the blades for us shield, by using his sword to chop them out and off. He remained at the ready, peering around the structure at the massive monster and pondered courses of action. He had no ranged weapons on him, just his enchanted sword that was only useful in melee fights. There was an option that he could approach and just hack away. Surely his light-infused blade could do harm to a creature of darkness. Yet it would be incredibly foolish and quite possibly suicidal. "This could all be futile. I can't see a weakness, or one I could harm with my blade. If only my sword shot light. Perhaps that would be something to discuss with Master L'Arachel." He was musing aloud at that point. They were down but not out. He needed a better angle on it. With a quick gesture to Ashenne, to stay on the Princess, Keldric stepped back out into the open and steadily circled out and around. The monster was clearly occupied so hopefully he went unnoticed in the task. Princess Zelda Ashenne

[/b] The round has been reset. The next round will reset in 48 hours. When the first arrow struck the black mass, it was rather telling. It flew right through Ziegess, punching a hole in its form. At the edges of the hole, it began to creep ever so slightly further into the mass with an orange glow, like a fire eating away at wood. Ziegess froze from the hit for not even a second, but it was enough as the first dagger plunged into its eye, meeting its mark. Letting out a roar as it pulled back, allowing light into the building, the first dagger fell out, landing in the grass, but the eye itself was unmistakeable. A crack. Returning to its first form, the two long black arms reappeared. Meanwhile, as the second dagger hit, it detonated, but did nothing of note to Ziegess. Rather, the blade itself flew through the black mass itself, cleaving a small hole before flying out and landing harmlessly some feet away. The hole itself quickly mended itself, turning whole once again, as if the dagger had never flown through. Meanwhile, as Keldric cut away the spikes with his sword, they too, held the same orange glow where the cut had been made, burning away into nothing. A holy sword to help make a holey shield, well aren't I clever? As Ziegess turned to see that it had enemies on two sides, it decided to take a new course of action. It took one of its two arms and swung it towards Keldric in a wide swath. While it had not forgotten the little Deku, something had managed to hurt it, and there was only one other person out in the open that it could see. They were clearly the top priority now. Meanwhile, to the observant, it seemed that Ziegess's body was sinking at a rather alarming pace. Whatever had happened inside of the amalgamation had somehow harmed the damn thing. It let out a telltale roaring agony, flinging away from the building with haste and returned to its original form. As original as Keldric could assume. From his observation of his sword's interaction with the dark blades and the Princess' arrow of light, he surmised that Light could indeed harm the monster. The only question then was would they either hack it down to size or stand back taking potshots with the bow? They could do both, this splitting Its attention so only one would be targeted for counterattack.
Even as Keldric pondered his next course of action, there angered creature spotted him out in the open and swung its huge and long arm in a wide swath, aiming to take him out. It seemed fate was on his side as a clear shot at wounding the monster was given to him. Steeled by courage and confidence, the Knight-Captain kept his shield up and firm as he stepped into the oncoming attack while gripping the hilt of his raised shining sword, Oathkeeper, and cleaved it downward at the predicted point where it would slash through the monster's arm as it crashed into his shield. Even if he cut into, or through the arm, Keldric would inevitably be thrown backward at a high velocity, to crash into whatever may be behind him or simply onto the ground itself.

A tiny, timid little squeak left Zelda's throat. It had been a full-fledged shout before being stifled. Thankfully, there wasn't a chance in heck that anyone except maybe Ashenne could hear such a soft noise over the thunderous crashing of the monster impacting Kelric. It just so happened she was reacting to it. She'd known he had made a mistake pretty much the moment the monster set its eyes on him, and while she would normally bend to his expertise she found herself quietly wishing he hadn't done that. If even one person from her guard died on this trip, that would immensely sour a victory, no matter how hard fought. One could just see it in her body language, the way her long ears drooped, the way she grit her teeth. The way her grasp on her bow tightened with frustration. Zelda recoiled back behind their cover and flashed Ashenne a silent look that seemed to sternly beckon the other. One could only tell what the look meant by the context.
Stay close to me. Don't throw your life away like that.
The reason she did not speak was perhaps obvious. As much as she wished she could protect Keldric in that moment, he had already taken what looked like crippling blow and her options for doing that were pretty limited. She somehow doubted he'd be back on his feet and sprinting about quickly enough to protect himself from a follow-up blow, which meant suppressing the monster's advance with her arrows wouldn't be very effective. She had to do something, though! Peeking out from cover one more time, the princess pursed her lips and took aim with her bow, once again taking advantage of her stealth to line up a good shot.
This time, though, a man's voice called out to her and, following its advice, she noticed something she'd almost missed. A glimmer of inconsistent light from one of its eyes marred it's otherwise nearly featureless, textureless body. Looking at it more closely, it almost seemed to be fractured! The cracked surface of what she'd assumed to be its eyes sent a clear message of hope to Zelda. It could be harmed and she knew where its apparent weak point was. She now saw a new option to try and save Keldric from his fate--taking Ziegess down with a decisive strike before it could do any further harm. Shifting her weight a bit and focusing in on the already damaged eye, another light arrow manifested itself in Zelda's bow. However, she waited for a better opportunity to hit this smaller target to present itself. Thankfully, this quickly presented itself in the form of Ziegess beginning to sink into the ground. This provided her with a predictable motion to track downwards and she promptly let her arrow loose, attempting to shatter the damaged orb with holy force!
Once again Zelda promptly hid, hoping to continue benefiting from being able to fire off arrows without any immediate threat of phyical harm hanging over her head. She had to trust that if her arrows were even working at all, they'd be enough to make the monster rethink it's priorities and go on the defensive, as opposed to continuing to focus on the one person out in the open. Surely it would at least try to find her, or try some other method of protecting itself. |

[googlefont=Open+Sans] 守りたいものを守れるのなら [attr="class","firstfriend"] すべてを受け入れて 未来(あした)を探す The Deku’s jaw tightened, his teeth ground against one another in response to the debilitating wave of nausea that overtook him in response to Ziegess’ deafening roar. Its’ outraged cry momentarily synchronized with the frequency of his seismic waves that provided him with feedback within his sphere of influence, the end result was momentarily overload. His stomach lurched uncontrollably and the distinct aridic taste of bile permeated the back of his throat. He forced himself to swallow it back down, hastily dispelling his own domain of influence in an effort to alleviate his undesired symptoms. A few seconds passed before the debilitating overload dissipated to a tolerable level, his head still throbbed uncomfortably and beads of sweat trickled down his brow. Almost an entire minute had elapsed before Dieter dared to open his eyes, uncertain of what might greet him. His eyes remained clenched partially shut, gradually opening fully to the welcomed sight of an unblocked window. He took a few hesitant steps forward, testing his equilibrium before he’d perched himself on the window ceil. Ziegress’ attention had been diverted to a paladin, Keldric, who defiantly challenged the oppressive abomination.
Dieter pivoted his body and pushed off the ceil, ignoring the sound of the wood splintered beneath his feet as he propelled himself upwards. His hands encircled a portion of an overhang, the muscles in his arm visibly tensing as he swung his entire body towards back and forth to generate enough momentum to propel himself up onto the rooftop. He landed steadily, his legs spreading out into a moderate v in order to provide him with better footing. With practiced ease, Dieter once more brandished his spear as he surveyed his surroundings. His eyes scanned the surroundings for any trace of his thrown daggers, while doing so he noted that Ziegress body had begun to sink towards the ground and it was doing so at an alarming pace. He saw Zelda’s form as she skittered about the battlefield, taking care to not be noticed by their foe as she charged up a shot with her bow. Her arrows glowed with the same divine radiance that enveloped Keldric’s sword. He noticed how whenever the darkness came in contact with Keldric’s blade, it began to eat away at itself at an alarming pace.
Once she’d fired her arrow, she immediately took it upon herself to retreat back into hiding. Dieter smirked as he re-donned the mask and approached the chimney, which already had been damaged by Ziegess’ charge and was now partially eroded. He’d brought his fist back and sent it flying forward, ignoring the debilitating pain that shot up through his arm as his punch rendered the chimney little more than deadly shrapnel that was aimed primarily at Ziegess’ back. He could only hope that it would somehow damage more of its’ eyes or at least by the other combatants a few extra seconds. He took a second to glace at his left arm, it now dangled limply by his side, the last jarring impact had displaced it. He’d felt it slip from its’ socket. Even before it’d impacted. Dieter immediately pivoted on his heel and ran towards the other side of the roof, placing some distance between the Ziegess as well as examine what awaited for him if and when he took the leap of fate.

Ashe seemed to be the only one without a ranged weapon and so she really had nobuse in this fight, unless she was able to get on top of a roof for a netter vantage point. The look the Princess shot her made her think twice about doing it, however. So Ashe simply stayed by the Princess' side and made sure there would be no harm to her. She couldn't say the same about the Captain, even though she wanted to go out there and help.
The weakness revealed, she stayed her long blade until Ziegess would sink further down... if it ever would.

[/b] The round has been reset. The next round will reset in 48 hours. As the arm came swinging towards Keldric, his sword would find a surprising amount of purchase. The light burned through Ziegess's arm as it flopped away to the side, slowly burning away. The same orange glow began to burn further inward Turned out you really could just hit the damn thing. Who knew? However, the force of the blow threw Keldric severa feet away onto his back, but he was mostly unharmed, his shield having taken the brunt of it. However, the shield seemed to have taken a little bit of damage, namely in that the paint had been burned off. It still worked, mostly, but it was just one more repair on top of everything else. Ziegess pulled away as if acknowledging its suddenly missing arm, but while it let its pain be known, it didn't react as one might have considered a beast to. The reason for this would become obvious in the next moment. The wound inflicted earlier by Zelda's bow stopped burning away, the orange disappearing, and almost immediately, the hole repaired itself, as if the light arrow had never pierced its body. As Ziegess reeled from Keldric's blow, a light arrow slammed into the cracked orb, causing Ziegess to freeze entirely for a moment as it shattered away. Pieces of debris, slammed into Ziegess, passing through the black mass. A couple hit two of the orbs, and small cracks appeared, but it was a merely normal arrow that pierced a third that caused definitive cracks. Weapons seemed to perform better. In response to one shattering however, the eyes turned blue as it seemed to become momentarily docile, looking around before seeing Ashe poking around the corner. Its eyes turned red once again as it let out its roar and... vanished into the ground in one swift movement. Problematic. Not even a black pool could be seen at the bottom, not from a distance, only bare rock. Princess Zelda @keldric Dieter Wolfram Link Ashenne [/font][/ul][/div][/blockquote][/td][td] A B A N D O N E D

[googlefont=Open+Sans] 守りたいものを守れるのなら [attr="class","firstfriend"] すべてを受け入れて 未来(あした)を探す Dieter’s head craned backwards, leering over his shoulder as he watched Keldric’s divine strike cleave entirely through Ziegess’ arm. The moment of victory was undoubtedly short lived, destructive strength behind Ziegess’ attack managed to propel the paladin back at least seven feet. From a distance, Dieter had no way of knowing that his shield had absorbed the brunt of the damage, so he was left to assume the worst; the man was either dead or likely unconscious. Zelda’s holy-imbued arrow collided next, slamming into the orb that he’d managed to crack earlier with his dagger. This strike caused aforementioned orb to shatter into nothingness, stalling it just long enough for his own barrage to collide with its’ back. For the most part, a lot of the debris flowed through it harmlessly, but more than a handful collided with two of the other orbs. Lastly, Link’s normal arrow had found refuge into a third. They’d managed to widdle away at the beasts’ unfathomable constitution, damaging a number of its’ eyes before it’d elected to retreat downwards into the ground. The sight of the beast simply vanishing into the ground was unnerving. It left not a single trace of its’ presence, just that one moment it was there and then the next it was gone.
Dieter’s eyes narrowed as he began to scan his surroundings intensely, attempting to discern where it would emerge from next. At the same time, Dieter took a second to glance down and took note of the wagon full of half-pitched hay beneath him. It wasn’t going to be a graceful landing but it was far better than just slamming into the ground with his dislocated shoulder. He took a deep breathe inwards, draping his spear across his body and anchoring his good hand around his dislocated shoulder to stabilize it as he jumped. Dieter took his leap of faith, plunging into the hay, which absorbed the entirety of the impact of his fall. Yet his hand jarring back and forth as he landed sent sparks of pain throughout his shoulder as it shifted just mere centimeters. He let out a pained gasp, one that was audible to anyone nearby. Alas, he didn’t delay climbing out of the wagon, not bother to brush the hay from his locks as he began to slowly move about the battlefield, actively searching for another vantage point and any traces of the monster. He was also making his way towards Keldric and Zelda.

There was a moment of suffocating bewilderment as she found herself alone on the battlefield at what felt like the worst possible time.
Zelda had been moments away from objecting to Ashenne's sudden departure when the other simply ...left. The princess was left on the ground. That is to say, the ground the monster was hiding in. It could be right under her feet! And frankly, she wouldn't be surprised! ...Hopefully, it was just admiring her boots. The way she saw it, the fact that it went underground like that meant it must have some way of knowing where it was going down there. An important question to ask oneself was what the difference was behind between the ground it was moving through and the building she was using for cover when it came to tracking prey. She got this awful feeling she was in a lot of danger, but what could she do to protect herself? She definitely couldn't chase after Kelric right now, much as she wanted to; that would be asking to be intercepted.
But hold on, there was someone else with her. A familiar voice called out to Zelda and she turned her head to meet Link's eyes, a glimmer of recognition and curiosity visible past the understandable anxiety associated with giant monsters trying to sunder your squishy existence. Who was this humbly dressed man? What had brought him to this battle? Could he be a survivor, perhaps..? For a brief moment, she hesitated to reply. However, she silently reasoned that if talking would give away her position it was a bit late for that. Better keep her voice down, just to be on the side of caution, though. "...I'm alright." Zelda softly replied. "But I think we're still in danger." the princess went on to state, gesturing down to the ground before her with a single finger. Her eyes caught movement and she briefly became aware of a deku moving vaguely in here general direction, but it seemed like he might be heading over to where Kelric was thrown rather than where she was currently hiding. The princess wasn't really sure, but she admired the bravery regardless. Her feet were frozen in place. |

Keldric was glad his plan had worked, slicing a chunk off the monster's arm but he also took the hit. Having been prepared for it, and took the brunt of it with his battered shield, was still thrown far off his feet but with little actual damage taken. The Knight-Captain laid on his back while groaning ever so slightly, staring up at the sky. His armor had absorbed most of the impact but it still hurt to land on his back and slide further. Thankfully he didn't crash into a wall, that might've hurt worse. With another light groan, Keldric rolled over and pushed himself up and into good feet. His weapon lay nearby, to which he retrieved, and turned to face the dark threat. Yet the creature seemed to be gone. Did they defeat it? The Hylian Knight was quite skeptical about that. His keen eyes swept the village, picking out everyone present but his gaze settled on the Princess. Steeling his courage once more, he trudged over to her, hoping that she didn't reprimand him too hard for his foolishness. Even so, his guard remained up for a surprise attack. No way that monster was dead. Princess Zelda
