[/b] So this is one of three event threads that will be going on during the month of November. Are you enjoying the suddenness of it all? Admin Note: Due to this being a silly event, there is no time limit for the round. Please don't make me regret this~ If you are confused, read THIS. Do note that if you are in Jack O' Pain, that same character cannot be in this thread. The moon was rising in the sky, a harvest moon, if you will. Beautiful for everyone to watch. It was that time of the year, and everyone was bringing in their crops and ready to ride out the coming winter. With the vegetables rampaging through town, the castle seemed to be in somewhat of a ruckus. Well, no, not really. In fact, it seemed to be more of a party time than anything. In the courtyard, most of the guards were what one may accurately describe as shitfaced. Evil living vegetables causing a problem? Pfah, surely it was nothing. So they continued to imbibe the cider that they'd managed to smuggle in. They were already letting loose horrible jokes, terrible limericks, and poetry that didn't rhyme. "MURDERERS!!"I want you to imagine this. You're a simple guard on duty for that night. Your friend managed to sneak in some cider, some really good cider. You're passing around the jug and taking drinks. Then out of nowhere, you hear one hell of an accusation, and see a good twenty human-sized vegetables barreling towards you, from corn to carrots, with some fruits mixed in as well. Peaches and apples. Were they even in season? What in the world were they doing here? You'd think it was the drink, right? Well so did the guards, looking at the cider for a moment, which was all the veggies needed to bowl over the guards and start mobbing them, kicking them with plant-like hands and feet. The guards, completely at a loss, only shielded themselves, disbelieving that they were being mugged by a bunch of produce. What in the hell was this night anyway? One of them, an ear of corn pulled away, looking at the ruined castle. "Their princess lives in there! Get her! We'll roast her as payback for all the lives lost!" A cheer came from the crowd as the apples rushed into the now overtaken castle, charging through its halls aiming to capture Zelda. Tonight, their sentient overlords would know what it was like, the pain that all produce-kind had endured for millennia! As a group came to challenge them, that same ear of corn let out a battle cry of "DESTROY THE MEATBAGS!" as the remaining warriors charged the group. Of course, the fact they were completely unarmed probably mitigated the threat somewhat. @open @open @open @open @open CORN REMAINING: 5 CARROTS REMAINING: 5 PEACHES REMAINING: 5 APPLES REMAINING: 5 (on their way to abduct Zelda) [/font][/ul][/div][/blockquote][/td][td] B U T

IF MEMORIES ARE SHADOWS
we'd best not waste the light
"Am I imagining things?" she said aloud, "Or am I really seeing fruits and veggies trying to attack people? I'm totally seeing farm produce attacking people. Oh my goddesses, I can't believe this!"
Charity was hovering above in the air watching as the brigade of produce made their way into the castle. The pink powderpuff had been making her way over to the castle to offer her healing services to the staff so they had more able hands. Or those who were too injured to attend the event to join the harvest festival.
What she saw instead was a farmer’s worse nightmare come to life. Or what she thought was one. She hovered over to the procession of sentient sustenance looking around for others to make sure she wasn’t the only one going crazy with seeing things.
"Umm... Fruits and veggies! Veggies and fruits," she called out to them, still flying up above for now, "Why are you being so hostile? Please don't attack anyone anymore. That's not very nice. Please?"

And what a nice cool day to enjoy not being a part of the food chain it was! Princess Zelda was on her way to an autumn dance, just sort of trying to avoid being left to her own thoughts. As much as she resented the idea that her mind was weak, she'd found herself unable to escape the the suffocating trauma of what had happened in her throne room on her own. This wasn't just something that she could work out on her own, and to that end she... hadn't quite given up. She had begun trying to find new ways to cope with what had happened, with this being just one of several. There was a pearl of wisdom in the notion that a busy mind had no time to wander. In a way though, she wondered if she was just stalling for time. Was that just... her life now? Fending off these terrible experiences as best she could for as long as she could? It was a worrying thought, but perhaps she wasn't asking the right questions. Maybe those wounds never would 'heal', but would they necessarily block her pursuit of happiness? That was a question she was not so certain of, and the only way to find an answer was to push herself and see how far she got.
...She got about as far as the courtyard. A voice caught her attention. Was someone calling for her? They sounded rather angry. What was the meaning of thiiii--Ooooh goddesses no!! The hair on princess Zelda's neck stood on end as something she was having a bit of difficulty processing talked about roasting her. Oh. Hey. That other thing that gave her nightmares. Nice of that to pay her a visit at home. First of all though, ...was that a gigantic piece of corn?? Second of all, "KYAAAAAAAAAA!!"
Zelda's little girl squeal of abject alarm (+3 to agility) could be heard all through the courtyard. Thoroughly freaked out, she just sort of stood there for a moment with a pricelessly frightened look on her face. ...Honestly, she wasn't sure what she was expecting. To wake up, maybe? Boy, wouldn't that be convenient. Why was she always the subject of monsters' hunger?! Did her intense anguish season the meal for them?! Backing away, the princess promptly began trying to recover some distance between herself and the killer vegetables. "--What are you?? Why are you attacking my castle??" the princess demanded rather anxiously, not quite ready to jump on the offensive. |

Once upon a time, the land of Hyrule felt fairly normal. That day changed when the Vegetable Army invaded and live-roasted Princess Zelda, successfully ending her family's lineage where Morrigan Vitalis failed only days before. What is now known as the Hylian Genocide began, followed by the destruction of the other prominent races within the kingdom. Soon enough the Apple Society took control of the field and began to grow themselves by the thousands, and the Mushroom Group thrived deliciously in the swamp formerly held by the Deku. The hardier root vegetables made the mountain their home, destroying Kakariko again, and for the final time. In it's place rose Potatopolis, a flourishing kingdom for veggie kind everywhere.
War eventually broke out between those who were Fruits and those who were Vegetables due to differences in viewpoints. What those were, no one knew, because no one could really write down the language spoken between them. It mostly consisted of juicy grunts and bursts of passionate bellowing.
On a mission to prevent this dreadful future came a figure in a blue cloak, having tracked the small army a fair distance to reach this point. He arrived in a timely fashion, sending an arrow flying through the air at one of the apples. Directly between the eyes worked best to make quick work of them and, with any luck, send them back to their tasty previous incarnations.
Charity took the peaceful approach and Zelda, understandably, freaked out. Link, though? He just looked like he'd ran out of fucks to give and resigned himself to further chaos in his life. Thank the goddesses that his aim was true. Though, it wasn't like a human-sized apple made for a difficult target.
"So much for dancing at the festival," he muttered under his breath. Siiigh. MADE BY ★MEULK

SO SAY THE WORD AND I'LL BE RUNNING BACK TO FIND YOU The evening started out like any other night. Calm, peaceful and from the sound in the distance one that should’ve potentially be filled with merriment. Seyka was excited to join the festivities happening around the town and indulge in some of the food. Yet the occasion was nothing more than a far cry dream for the greenette. The illusion of a peaceful night had been shattered the moment she heard cries and screams nearby the vicinity. Arming herself with her equipment, she took off to the scene. What she came to behold was a sight only a parent would tell their children if they were naughty and didn’t eat their greens at the dinner table come to life. A bountiful harvest had come to life and they were raging with righteous fury over the people. “… Okay, I thought I saw it all but this takes the cake… or salad bowl. Yes, that would be more accurate.” The greenette was late to the party though as it appeared there were people confronting the hoard. A sweet little fairy was trying the peaceful route. Bless her. Princess Zelda was terrified and understandably so given the fruits and vegetables were coming straight towards her. The Hylian Knight saw Link as he skipped the diplomacy and instantly started shooting at the apples. “Your Highness, please stay back.” Seyka took out her sword and shield and rushed to intersect the apples trying to get close to Zelda. She readied an attack if they came any closer. She was going to chop them into slice bits. Or at least attempt to. tag: WAGA ARU G, Charity, Princess Zelda, Linknotes: There goes the salad bar -shot- I'LL SOAR THE ENDLESS SKIES FOR ONLY ONE SIGHT OF YOUR STARLIGHT

All the pain, I want it to end
But I want it again
"WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!?" Ashei let out a shriek in frustration as she scattered to obtain her weapon. Her hands slid to the hilt rather quickly as she unsheathed and jumped into action before she could even properly understand what was happening.
Nowhere. They came from literally nowhere! Finally a day for contemplation and planning of her future journeys - and what a wonderful way to spend it by reading and writing in the courtyard! But nooooo. Some stupid sentient vegetables decided today was the day they would come wreak havoc upon Hyrule.
"I swear to god, if the ear of corn succeeds in killing us all before a fucking dragon does, I will be unrest."
She appeared in the clearing as she followed to sentient troops toward the group of 4, her breath huffing as she came to a jolting stop with her sword drawn ready to fight. "Why is it that whenever something crazy happens, I run into you two?" she sighed as she recognized Link and Seyka among them.
Taking note of the veggies trying to force themselves toward the princess, she immediately removed her boomerang from her belt and flung it into their direction.

[/b] One of the ears of corn immediately countered to charity in a vulgar manner, shaking its fist at her. She too would rue this day, for they would be having fairy stew as well as everything else! Roasted Hylian, Fairy Stew, and Campfire Human, tonight, vengeance would be there! Or well, it would be, if it wasn't for the high pitched scream that drew the corn's attention as Zelda made some distance between them before asking them their purpose. The vegetables and peaches stood stunned for a moment at the sight of her before one of the carrots roared at the apples already running into the castle. "Wha--ASSHOLES, she's right here!" Alas they were too late however, the apples didn't seem to hear them and rushed into the castle regardless, all for a mission they had no chance of fulfilling now. Well, all but one. Link's arrow landed in the back of one as it went down screaming in high-pitched, squeaky pain. One of the carrots rushed to its side, cradling the apple in its arms, only for it and the apple to get blown away by the boomerang, being scattered and slammed into the wall as their bodies began to bruise and chunks of their skin were being peeled off. With the apples gone and two of their comrades wounded, one of the peaches could only chime in "They're gone, chief." At which the ear of corn that had been talking with Charity buried its face in its maizey palms. "I can see that, we'll just take the princess and roast her here." The corn muttered. The peach shrugged before shaking itself from left to right. "I don't think she's the princess." It said as it pointed to Zelda. The corn for the moment, gave the peach a look that seemed like it was the dumbest thing it had ever heard in its short life. "What?" It seemed that for the moment the veggies and fruits had completely forgotten their meaty opposition, might be a good time to get something together. Moving its body up and down, the Peach seemed confident. "Well, the princess has divine blood don't she?" It said before pointing a finger at Seyka of the group. "That hair, she's got the blood of the forest, don't get much more divine than that." Perhaps a bunch of fruits and vegetables would hold the forest with a bit more reverence than they would an actual goddess, in a way it made sense. "She just called it her castle." The corn motioned to Zelda Seeming to waffle a bit, the Peach countered. "Could be a knight doing her duty."Letting out an exasperated groan, the corn didn't seem all too convinced, or even amused at this interruption. They just had to make this difficult, didn't they? "Just... just attack, we're going to roast both of them anyway.""Oh right." And with that, the rest of the killer produce charged the group, all at once, aiming to overwhelm them with sheer numbers as they threw their weight at them, punched, kicked, there were even some trying to bite here and there. The only ones not in the charge were the four apples running amok in the castle, the one lying face down with an arrow in its back, still squealing, and the wounded carrot getting back to its feet. "Same could be said about you, Ashei. You go where there is trouble. Or does trouble go to you?” And why was the Hylian there? Despite having no initial plans to return to the capitol any time too soon, the call of the harvest festival and the need to stock up on supplies won out in the end. Besides, checking up to see how the princess was doing would ease the mind of his traveling companion for awhile.
Reading his bow, Link ran along the edge to find better placement - and avoid the fray unfolding. The knight would guard her lord, Ashei was exceptionally resilient, and the pinkette was... hopefully able to move quickly and avoid being a sweet treat for vegetable mouths to chomp on.
“If we set them on fire, they’ll go down fast. But...” He shot at one of the peaches and frowned. “Can we keep it contained so it won’t spread far?” MADE BY ★MEULK

Zelda flinched. ...How rude! Well, actually, she supposed all the violence had really escalated things past the point where crudeness was no longer her main concern. Seeing Seyka rush to her side gave her cause to smile a bit, though, and she shifted to gratefully accept the cover she was being given. "Far be it from me to complain; it is nice to know that I am in such good hands." Zelda remarked in response to Ashei joining them. There were several things she would like to complain about but her company was not one of them. ...Well, maybe the guards partying nearby. She could ask for a bit more than that. How many of them were even fit to do their jobs right now?? Honestly...
Of course, there was still... one use she could think of for them. Weapons. There were weapons all over the place, many of them understandably not being used. Weapons she didn't expect them to be able to use very effectively in their current state. They'd be put to much better use by her...
"Hold!" Zelda ordered as she lifted her arms into the air. Anyone paying attention to the sky might notice a lot of movement they probably hadn't been accounting for. Dozens of weapons rose into the air, dotting the skyline as they all simultaneously shifted to point down at the charging fruits. With a forceful wave of her arms, she sent a volley of spears flying down to greet them like a volley of gigantic arrows, seeing how many she could skewer against the ground before they even got close. If she hit enough of them she might just create a large obstacle for the rest of them to get past, potentially slowing the group down.
Regardless, a group of five swords flew in to replace the spears and hover before the assembled heroes and heroines, standing guard before them like a series of spectral knights. "Now--Drive them back!" Zelda went on to command. She'd been a tad worried about friendly fire due to the nature of her opening attack, but now that she was a bit more focused she hoped the group would recognize what she was doing. With any luck, they'd switch to their ranged options to minimize the risk of any of them getting hurt. Without the need to protect themselves, her newly commandeered swords could easily match the fruit's aggressiveness.
In a demonstration of this, the blades rushed forward to intercept some of the remaining fruits--whichever were closest, really, before aggressively attempting to slice, dice and gut them. A wall of blades could be just as effective as an actual wall under the right circumstances! |

"So much for talking things out peacefully." Charity lamented. "You're not being very nice! Watch your mouth, veggies! Rotten-mouth produce spoil faster than others! Oh yeah! Just fair warning: You guys started this fight so we can't be held accountable to whatever happens after this-" Charity scoped the area seeing more people come in. Three Hylians–one of them being the very princess herself–and a human. They all seemed capable of handling themselves so the fairy continued to stick to the air.
The little pink puffball watched the scrimmage ensue with utmost care. In the thick of it, Princess Zelda had revealed her magical capabilities in a showcase of taking up fallen weapons and attempting to skewer the living produce in their place. It gave the fairy an idea of how to help.
She flew as fast as her fairy wings could take her. She dived down to the ground to pick up one of the fallen spears that didn’t quite make the skewer and go back up to the air. She hovered above the produce and aimed it carefully. Unceremoniously she dropped the spear with the pointy end at one of the produce in attempt to shish kabob at least one of them down.

[googlefont=Roboto] THOU seek the light with an outstretched hand
A divine blade lies before you
So command the wake of dreams
To restore the world, cut ‘way the seams Boomerang returning to her, her eyes began to glance about the courtyard to make any notes of what these.... food monsters were doing. They were making their way toward the princess, whom Ashei previously had not fully realized was among them.
Oops. She felt her stomach turn in her presence - she had never really been this close to her before, despite her father having working closely with the Royal Family in the past. That was something she'd worry about later - her presentation and poise was obsolete in comparison for her need to protect.
"I'm starting to wonder if we're all just puzzle pieces in something bigger that plans to come forward," she groaned in response to Link, who noted the trouble that followed them. She really hoped that wasn't the case. More so, she really hoped that it was coincidence and she just happened to be in the right place at the right time to stop bad things from happening.
But this!? This was a bit extreme. She couldn't fathom what in the world would cause food to become sentient, and why they would go after the princess. She tried not to think about it too much as she circled around the garden to look for a clear opening of attack.
The small quarrel between the vegetables was barely audible to her - perhaps because she was too far away, but they seemed confused on their direction on what they should do, before all forming together to attack in a swarm. This was her chance.
"Alright, alright! I'm done dealing with this kind of ludicrous behavior! If you're going to bicker about what to do next then maybe you shouldn't be running an army in the first place!!" she growled as she darted toward the swarm. Flicking her wrist, the boomerang shot back into the hoard before she then brought her sword to her chest to brace herself.
As she jumped into action, she swung her sword around to bring it toward any and all vegetables in her path. "Someone try to find fire - maybe some arrows or really anything that can cause these things to catch flame!"

[/b] Due to this being Thanksgiving Week, the round will reset next monday, in 168 hours. You're welcome. No strike for Sey due to IRL issues. As Zelda's armada of weapons rose into the air, the produce could only look on in somewhat awe at the whole spectacle. They had flying weapons! They wanted flying weapons! Why couldn't they have flying weapons?! Not that it'd matter in a couple seconds. As Zelda brought down the storm, bit by bit the produce were all skewered with panicked, chipmunk screams. Some dove to save the corn but were immediately pinned down by a sword or a spear here and there. Weapons skewering their faces and their bodies, it was like dicing vegetables for the princess, and surprisingly easy. When all was said and done, the produce, barring the four apples that had gotten inside the castle, were for the most part still. The power of a maxed out slot against what is essentially a tutorial fight, ladies and gentlemen. For Ashei, the experience would be... painful. Zelda had told her to hold for a reason, and this was exactly that reason. While her boomerang was indeed helpful, diverting what would have been certain death for her, charging head on into the horde when a rain of blades was coming down was... not a smart move. First a spear had pierced the back of her right leg, rendering her immobile, followed by a sword in her left shoulder, one spear in her lower back, and another sword higher up. She was in really bad shape. With great power comes great responsibility but with great power there should be the idea to get out of the way when this sort of thing happens. Least they had a fairy on hand. [ Ashei Vitalis, MULTIPLE IMPALEMENTS, SEVERE] As Charity dropped her spear after having gone to fetch it, it fell cleanly into a carrot that was still twitching, and finally it stilled. Goddamn. Zelda could feel her stomach drop and her blood run cold. As cathardic as it was to slice and dice some giant vegetables for a harvest meal, she couldn't help but notice someone distinctly more human rushing into the frey. The problem with having a ton of weapons was that she didn't have a ton of eyes to go with them all. There were limits on how fine her control could really be when she didn't have a perfect view in the chaos of battle. As much as she wanted to hope dumb luck would spare her from something terrible today, she knew that she hadn't really gone out of her way to create any particular safe zones out there. The princess fumbled to try and regrab the spears but stopped herself just short. It was already too late. She was panicking and trying to undo something that had already happened. If she didn't stop, she'd only make things worse. When it became clear that the fruits and veggies were down for the count, she moved to slip past Seyka and rush out to inspect the damage! A murmur of alarm could be heard from her as she passed.
--And boy was she right to feel that urgency. There was something uncomfortably personal about accidentally killing your own people. You'd think that after the past few disasters Zelda had been through this would be a bit of a footnote, but in Zelda's opinion whoever said you could get used to failure like this was a liar. Moving to sort of hover over Ashei with a single sword floating not far behind her--just in case--Zelda visibly winced. The other woman was pinned to the ground, and boy did that look painful. She'd know a thing or two about that. Had she not yelled loud enough to be heard? The urge to blame herself aside, there was work to be done. The apples could wait. There were guards and heroes all over the place! Surely they would be okay if Zelda took some time to make sure the wounded were alright... ...Hnnngh.
"We need a healer--right now!" Zelda announced, just kind of hoping someone within earshot could help. As she spoke, she went to work freeing Ashei from the ground. A firm yet gentle invisible force enveloped Ashei's body, counteracting her weight and then plucking the spears from the ground without actually removing them from Ashei's body. She might not be an expert on healing, a fact she felt the need to correct at some point, but she knew that big holes meant big blood loss--especially when you worked sharp, barbed spear tips into the mix. Removing them before a healer presented themselves was almost certainly a bad idea.
Instead, she just kind of gingerly levitated Ashei off the ground and brought her over to her. Zelda would superficially move to take Ashei's hand, provided the other did not pull away from her, just to kind of make sure Ashei didn't think she was being attacked by a ghost or something. You never knew how someone would react to being handled by an invisible force, and she did want to help make Ashei a bit more comfortable. Said invisible force was cradling Ashei in the air like a pair of invisible arms, ...or six. it was putting a bit of pressure on her wounds as well, just sort of biding time and helping to reduce the bleeding as best she could. "...Hold on for me, alright?" Zelda would murmur to the other. Honestly, what could she even say? Did she scold the dying woman for getting herself into this mess? Ask her to explain herself? Nah. Maybe later, if she survived. Those wouldn't be appropriate final words if she didn't pull through. |

[googlefont=Roboto] THOU seek the light with an outstretched hand
A divine blade lies before you
So command the wake of dreams
To restore the world, cut ‘way the seams She heard the princess's command to hold, and her chest went tight - she was in too far deep, and she knew that there wasn't much she could do to rewind the last few moments. She forced herself through the horde of vegetables, doing as much damage as she could, but it suddenly became a much more dangerous game of avoiding the aerial weapons.
She jumped out of the way successfully, huffing in relief, before jumping again before--crack! Her face was against the dirt as she began tumbling into the ground, spears impaling her in various areas as she let out a breath in panic - but her voice disappeared, and the pain overloaded - like being submerged in boiling water, and yet she was paralyzed and couldn't breathe.
She was contorted, her eyes wide open in disbelief as they cried out for help without a sound. She could hear someone approaching her, but she couldn't move to see whom it was. Before any words were exchanged, the rather frantic person began to peer over the damage - and a soft but panicked voice projected into the distance. It was the princess.
The heiress unpinning her as gently from the ground as she could would certainly not call for panic, right? Nope. Ashei let out a screeching shriek in pain that could cut glass - and it wouldn't stop! It was frantic and desperate as she began wriggling about in the air, gasping and unsure of how to stop.
She kept screaming and crying as her eyes scanned the area fiercly before stopping to survey Zelda's cerulean gaze. The screaming stopped, and she went silent, just focusing her gaze on the woman in front of her. Her hand clenched Zelda's gently as she gave a trusting, yet weary nod.
She was ready to die if they didn't get there in time. She had a fairy, she knew she'd be back.
But at this point, she wished she didn't. She was too embarrassed to face this once she were to be healed. She wasn't as invincible as she thought; and now everyone could see that. One thing was preventing her from completely begging the princess to forget about her and leave, and it was her desire to protect her.

Charity went through a spiraling swirl of emotions under the span of a minute. First, there was relief in knowing Zelda’s trick with the fallen spears and weapons had successfully skewered the fruits and veggies that were about to assault them. That was an amazing display of magic the fairy had ever seen! Was this actually happening? They were going to beat back the formidable forces of the farm crops.
And then it went south. The human woman who was trying to ward off the army of produce got caught into the fray. The fairy screamed as she saw Ashei get impaled along with the majority of the sentient harvest. "Oh no. Oh no! Oh no, no, no!" she panicked. She’d always been warned that she should use her powers wisely. Exposing herself as a fairy has always been a risk since people still bottled fairies to use them for their reviving powers.
But even she couldn't stand the sight of someone about to die on her hands. She could make a difference! "Hang on!!" she screamed. "I'm on my way!!"
She flew back down to meet up with Ashei and Princess Zelda. Her wings flitting as quickly as they could as she floated over to Ashei. Her hands glided above the wounded woman as they began to glow with a sugar pink aura. Healing energy poured through her finger tips and onto Ashei to start healing her. "I can take care of her, but it'll take time. There's still other sentient crops that went into the castle! Someone should get them."
