IF MEMORIES ARE SHADOWS
we'd best not waste the light
The news of Hyrule Castle Town fallen into such a dire situation sent Charity’s urges into overdrive. She flew back to the Capital as fast as her wings could take her so she could see it with her own eyes. The smell of ash and smoke was pungent in the air it nearly brought her to tears. Most of the fires had been put out, but in the wake of all the catastrophic events were injured people. The remains of guards and knights, broken and distraught, doing everything they could to help the people. They were going to need more than just their raw strength alone to help this city. Thus Charity decided to join the efforts.
Warm glowing light exuded off from her petite palms. She’d been focusing on healing the injured with her natural healing power. As she focused on her power, she listened to the thrum of hammer work into planks. Saw tools cutting and forming supplies that were rushed into the city’s reconstruction. There were Gorons appearing here and there bringing in boulders. Those boulders were then turn into smaller stones that would act as the stonework for new buildings and roadwork.
"There! All done and should be all better!" She chirped happily. "Don't push yourself too hard." The arm of the Knight, which was beaten pretty badly had been healed back to functioning order. The blush pink fairy was not strong so she was useless with construction. She wasn’t the best when it came to cooking or forming soup kitchens for the homeless or need. So she did what she knew naturally: healing what injuries she could.
She took a look around after the knight has left back to his duties. Looking down to her hands, she noticed they were now coated in dirt and soot. Even when the city was in shambles, it was still as busy and bustling as ever.

When civilization crumbled beneath the mettle of opposition they had but two options before them: lie in the ruins of their broken home or rebuild it into something bigger and hypothetically speaking better. Birinne will always pick the latter option! A scientist works best when working from square one. With a flick of her wrist, the oocca girl twirled her Dominion Rod elegantly in the air. Small objects floated up into the air and beneath the rubble was a whimpering puppy crying out for help. A guard had come over to help the creature. Biri sent the rubble she had floating into the nearest wheel barrel of rubble. One pile down, another one to go. Her attention span on the work quickly severed at the glow of light nearby. Shiny? Yes please!True to her avian nature, she was drawn to the bright light. Drawing near, she discovered it was a magic user. A healer at work tending on a wounded guard. "Good job. The more able hands, the lighter the work becomes." Says the bird who hasn't lifted a finger.

And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain In the wake of the tragedy at both Castle Town and Kakariko Village, the Deku Kingdom had been abuzz; preparing relief efforts for the two major facets of the Hylian Kingdom. Its’ Captain of the Guard had drafted a series of letters, all of whom were addressed to their known allies, King Zitos of the Zora Kingdom and Lady Zelda. The one addressed to the Zora King was a simple request, he’d requested a handful of men to help in the restoration. However, he’d received no response from the Zora King, it saddened him because it only served to remind him that their bond had lessened; it scarcely existed anymore. The letter he’d addressed to Lady Zelda was a bit more well-received. It was for that very reason, a caravan consisting of three wagons drawn by horse now remained halted at the Castle Town Gates. They’d produced a singular letter of intent to entry and presented it to the Guard on duty, it was signed by both Dieter Wolfram – Captain of the Guard and the Deku Royal advisor. Its’ content plainly stated their intent and listed the supplies and personal they’d brought to aid.
On the supply portion, they’d brought a few crates loaded with medicinal herbs that could be used to treat the injured or mixed in with the food they were going to prepare. They’d also brought preserved meats, an array of exotic vegetables native to the Deku Swamps, bandages, clean linens – both bedding and actual clothing. On the other hand, they’d brought a few of their craftsman, a few builders, a structural engineer. He’d also dared to include a few of their shaman, these duos were renowned for their magical prowess, not to mention their connection would prove useful in the times coming. Once the Castle Guard had finished inspecting their wares and their personnel, they’d made their way to the City’s Central location before they’d set up. In a matter of an hour to two, the scent of roasted meat permeated the courtyard heavily. The Shamans had taken note of the Fairy that was treating the injured as well as the woman who was moving things with a rod; their interest was piqued. The duo nodded at each other in agreement before they’d split off to approach them.
However, they halted the moment they heard a curt cough from behind them. The source of this cough was no other than their metaphorical leader; the man that had orchestrated all of this. HIs youthful face was marred by deep black bags present underneath his eyes, the way his cerulean eyes were now an inflamed red from lack of sleep. Perhaps, it wouldn’t of been as cumbersome if it weren’t for the Deku King and Queen’s continuous mental and physical decay; they were not much longer for this world. It saddened him, but he was going to at least oversea their operations for the time being, if not until he was certain that his men could operate autonomously; Lycoris’ request for him to head to the mountains still weighted heavily on his mind. He needed to wake a slumbering dragon, was it particularly wise though given that a Dragon had nearly destroyed Castle Town?
What if this one was no different, no, he couldn’t dwell on that as he’d made his way over to the Fairy and Oocca, offering them both a polite smile.
“ It never ceases to amaze me, the way you faeries can patch others up….. How did you move that pillar of stones?”
Dieter inquired the Oocca. He’d seldom left the Swamp so his knowledge pertaining to her race was surprisingly lacking.

After first hearing of the damage to Castle Town, Fress had been leaping from shadow to shadow as fast as he could to make sure Midna was still safe. However, it was clear he was too late to do anything when he arrived. Knowing he had failed his princess, Fress simply hid in the shadows and began to cry. While his form was hidden, he sobs could still be heard.
"My princess," He sobbed, "I failed you."

Hey you, yea you.
| Crystal would growl occasionally as sweat ran into her eyes, but quickly blinked the sweat free, continuing to push through the fatigue as she helped builders move rubble from place to place, working on clearing the remnants of buildings that once stood tall. It was a part of rescue efforts, trying to clear the rubble as quickly as possible to try and potentially save any poor soul trapped underneath.
She had been heading towards castle town when she saw all the smoke. Immediately, she went in to help. Now here she was, covered in sut, dust, cuts and sweat, working to try and make sure that any and all survivors had been found. She had continued to move about as well until some rubble fell from her wheelbarrow, the sounds of sobs startling her. She was about to call out to see if anyone was injured, but instead, she just heard something about failing a princess?
Oh this person better be injured. This would be taking time from people who may be suffocating. "The hell? Who the hell is crying?! If you're uninjured, get the hell outta here before you become injured! Cry somewhere safe and behave like a person that wants to live!" She snarled out, shuffling the weight of the wheelbarrow in her hands. "If you're injured, then let me know so I can find you." She remembered to add, knuckles turning white as her grip tightened on the wooden handles.
If her dads were here, that'd be great. In fact, she had sent prophet to go get them and deliver a written message so they heard from her that things were in shambles. They'd get up and come help as soon as they could. Rebuilding a town of this size would take a long time and a lot of man power.

Fress was not in the mood to be bothered by anyone, let alone someone acting this rude. This lady clearly wouldn't understand what he was going through. Therefore, there was only one way Fress could reply to this situation.
"Leave me alone," he said, "I'm not injured and you light dwellers have done enough to make my life hell."
After affirming his need to be alone, Fress threw one of his Shadow Attack stars at the Gerudo. Fortunately, he was too deep in his grief to bother putting power in his throw and it just lazily fell at the girl's feet before it could hit.

Hey you, yea you.
oh wow. attempting to attack someone who's obviously working to save lives. R00D | Oh wow, fuck this guy in particular. Her mood immediately soured more when a weapon failed to hit her and landed at her feet. "Well, if you're so fucking uninjured, how about you try moving your ass out of this town and crying somewhere fucking else where you're less likely to get your ass beat by falling rubble! Look around you, you idiot!" she shouted, motioning to the destruction all around them.
"What kind of idiot mopes around in a place where it's this dangerous!" Besides, she was just fucking asking if he was ok, and she believed firmly in her point. Moping in a collapsing city with actually injured people laying about goddess knows where, was a major dick-move to rescuers and the people they were searching for. She brushed off the light-dweller comment and opted to walk away with her wheelbarrow and continue actually helping people. "Fuck you, you little shit. Behave like a person who wants to live or sit there, get in everyone's way and miss your weapon throws. I don't care."
There were people out there that actually needed help, and she wasted more than enough time yelling at whoever this weirdo was. Light-dweller? Who the fuck isn't a light-dweller? Maybe he's an albino freak that's too afraid of the sun to come out of hiding. Eh, who knows.

IF MEMORIES ARE SHADOWS
we'd best not waste the light
"Oh! Thank you. That's what I was thinking too. If we can heal as many of the injured then we'll have more able workers to make the burdens easier on us." Charity looked up to see another pretty lady approaching her. Was she an oocca? Charity had only heard about the bird people in stories. They lived up high in the skies and were rare to see on the surface. Wow!
The praise was accepted with a bright smile. She was able to engage in a conversation with the oocca girl but her attention was quickly diverted. Her lips formed an 'o'-shape when she saw an unexpected sight approached.
It was Deku. Charity didn’t expect the Deku to come so far and help Castle Town. She was able to meet all kinds of diverse races today. What an honor! "Oh no. Please, it's not much. I'm just doing what I can," she replied back. Though the question posed to Birinne also had the pink fairy curious. "I'm actually curious as well to be honest. Is your rod magical?"
There was a strange ruckus happening. Not too far there was a Gerudo yelling at someone. Or was there? Charity assumed it was another civilian amidst the crying and suffering. Those who didn't have the will to do something and help with rebuilding Castle town needed to leave the area immediately.
Crying people only got in the way of work. They were useless. They weren't helpful and doing nothing for the people who need help, or to the potential dying underneath the wreckage of the dragon attack.
It was harsh but it was the reality of their situation. Castle Town needed support to get back up on it's feet.

Arrow to the KneeThe eagle eyed Hylian Knight had seen everything. EVERYTHING. The destruction, the ruin, the sort of thing he didn't like to be on the end of. Oh certainly, there was a castle town to fix and so on, such nonsense he wouldn't bother to sully his hands with unless he had to, and right now, his duties were to his sovereign monarch, Zelda herself, yet she's not here. It meant the realm was his priority at the moment, and so, here he was, doing his dues to keep the peace against any peasants that might get uppity, or anyone that may want to interrupt the healing process with some nonsense.
Plenty of people were doing their part to assist, and had it not been for him disliking the idea of tending to the wounded, he would've pitched in himself. But Nuada was sorely tempted to, standing guard was rather boring, to say the least. Very boring. Nothing to do, no thugs to beat up, no mobs to carve with a sword, none of that. It was dreary, to a point he had wished SOMETHING would happen and someone would disturb the peace. He had wished the Goddess would grant him that, and what do you know? Turns out it WAS the case. Some little shit albino whom he would equate with a pasty coconut had attacked a girl from what he had heard.
It was one of these days, Nuada was glad he had opted to only wear minimal protection right now. A mere breastplate, gauntlets, and greaves with leather boots. It was for that reason, he didn't clank around in platemail. It meant less protection, but it certainly had meant more comfort and his footsteps were quiet. As the bratty Twili had thrown a tantrum, crying and so on, Nuada had already unsheathed his Claymore quietly, holding it with both hands. He could not see the hider, but he could hear the telltale signs of the mystical being employed in some fashion. Swishes and so on that made him immensely suspicious.
He approached the Gerudo girl from the flank, before clearing his throat. He was a good distance away, from a point he can eye the area with minimal hassle. It was a wide area, and he was standing at a clearing which was well illuminated as opposed to the edges ripe with shadow.
"STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM!" He sounded off, his voice mighty in its baritone as it boomed. He wasn't looking at the Gerudo girl right now, but around the area for signs of the whiny weeper. "Not you, chocolate-woman." He reiterated to the helper known as Crystal. "YOU HAVE VIOLATED THE LAW, CRIMINAL SCUM. Step out RIGHT NOW or you and me will have a problem. A BIG one." He had glanced around, eyeing the shadows before slowly releasing his Claymore of one hand, and with said hand, pulled his shield from his back and held it at hand. Boy he loved putting down the masses in times like these.

At this point, Fress didn't even care about dying. His princess was probably dead and no one seemed to get how much that hurt him. Even the law apparently had no respect for Twili. At this point, Fress had all but given up being nice.
"I believe you are mistaken," he said, revealing himself and sarcastically smiling, "I haven't broken the law yet."
Shooting shadow attacks out of his fingers towards the guard, Fress had officially lost any care for what consequences anyone faced for his actions.
"Now I have," he said, quickly reverting to the shadows, "it's clear none of you want me around, so I'll just leave. Go ahead and try to find and kill me. It doesn't matter to me anymore."

Hey you, yea you.
Crystal's salt levels are maximum. | She met up with the man not too far from where the commotion went down and handed him the full wheelbarrow, taking the empty one and turning around to head back and get some more rubble. She had yet to see any flares or hear any yells about them finding a person trapped in the rubble, so she continued clearing out the buildings she was assigned to searching.
Now Crystal, by nature, was a very impatient, rude and mean girl. But there were some people she could be nice to. The guard running by to check on what was happening was one person she could get behind. Doing their job, helping out. But when she had turned around, she had witnessed the same (who she will now refer to as piss/cry baby) attacking a man just doing his job.
"Oh now what the fuck!?" She spoke up, moving behind Nuada with the wheel barrow, placing it on the beginning of the alley way she was working on. "Well, we'd be fine with some helping hands! But you're just attacking a guard! If I didn't want you around before, I definitely don't know! Leave him alone, he's just doing his job and trying to help! What are you doing?!"

[attr="class","ohlove"] both were silent. there were ways for kicking and screaming. Why is it that whenever he's around, something happens? He wasn't even here to make repairs, he just needed to pass through so he could find a fairy for Zelda. She was stable now, at least, but he needed to find a fairy or else she would, well, die. Best not to make that too public, at least not for the moment. So for now, he was just slipping through, passing over on rooftops, he doubted anyone would object and would see it simply as construction. At first, it began with the sobbing, he decided he would at least look into that first. Then a girl showed up, obviously Gerudo, and just started cussing them out. He would've stepped in there, had it not been for the shuriken that flew... kind of at her?
Oh boy.
Then a guard, having saw that, came rushing over and started shit. Man, Alex could just tell this guy was a Hylian Knight. He had the pompous peasant punishing demeanor written all over him. Right, he should probably step in then before this kid got killed or something by some kill happy Hylian Knight. Honestly, it was people like this guy that made him wonder if Morrigan didn't have a point. An awful way of expressing that point true, but the worst of it was you could kind of see where she was coming from. He got ready to hop down from the roof when the child emerged from the dark, apparently not a child, and very familiar, only to shoot at the guard and then disappear back into the shadow.
He buried his hand in his face. Welp, Midna was going to have her hands full.
Where was she, anyway? Honestly, he figured probably having girl time with Zelda or something but you never really knew with her. So here he was, looking at Fress very flagrantly violating the law in the worst way possible, with witnesses and everything. Should he even get involved at this point? Midna would probably prefer it if he did... She seemed protective of her people, anyway. He doubted she'd take any joy at the news of one of them being executed. Although was this execution worthy? No, he didn't think so. Maybe a flogging or something but he doubted it'd be that severe. He knew the knight would be, he seemed the type to lose his shit at a party and wonder if he was dying from a bee sting or throw a fit because a human noble was wearing the same clothes as him and he must change immediately!
For now, he'd just wait, he decided. Staff in his left hand, sword sheathed at his side as he watched the show from the rooftop above. He hoped he wouldn't have to step in. Fress was simply tired of this by now. He was leaving anyway. Why can't these people just leave him alone?
"If you hadn't opened your goddamn mouth," he said, finnaly snapping and revealing himself, "I would have been gone by now. I suppose that's the story of my life, ain't it? Get bullied, try to make them stop, and get the shaft. My princess is dead and all I wanted to do was mourn. If you want me to go so badly, I'll leave right now. If you want me gone for good, then please be my guest and end my suffering. Kill me, YOU LIGHTDWELLER ASSHOLES!!!!"

Arrow to the crotchNuada blandly stared at the direction the voice came from. It was whiny, and in many ways it had wanted him to just drive his Claymore into the skull of this freak who was talking. It irritated his sensibilities and made his face grimace into a look of utter disgust. He couldn't sympathize with this creature talking, then again, he didn't sympathize MANY things, but this, this just took the cake.
Nuada noted the creature's appearance. He looked human, but like some albino. Very distinctive. His hair was white, left down in a messy way in Nuada's perception, his skin was pale, in fact, he would call this person a vanilla coconut from just how much white he saw, and the blue that was close to that colour. It made him blanche out at the asymmetry of the fashion this whelp took, and all the more, made him annoyed. He was even further annoyed by the voice, the kind of a brat would have which grates at his nerves, and made him want to massacre an entire village full of sugary bastards that look just like him in his wake just to get that metaphorical taste out of his mouth. It was like having what some would call the sugar rots coarsing through his blood.
But of course, like all things, there are several happenings at once when he just wanted to get his boredom out of his system, beat an insubordinate little shit up, and maybe walk his way and say he did his part and keeping a peace. At least he wouldn't have to beat up some random people and pin some crime on them for the Hell of it. Oh no, instead, this idiot here just gave him the PERFECT excuse. For some reason, Nuada got the impression that not many people here realized he was in fact a Knight, and not some mere guard. His armour was far too well made for that distinction.
Anyways, he committed that face to memory, even as that brat was an inferior, because he'll probably laugh it off in the future. Right now, he can feel the hostile intent from the albino whelp (mostly the way he spoke). He had seen it plenty of times from people poised to attack, and for the life of him, he had no idea why they insisted on such obviousness when an attack ought to be sneaky-like. Not chivalrous, certainly, but very effective.
"Oh great, I am dealing with an imbecile. You HAVE broken the law, you plebeian mongrel, when you attacked someone." Nuada could not help but roll his eyes at that. It was an extrapolation at this point, but the brat wasn't even denying it. He took a fast step to his left as the shadow attack whizzed by, not even going so close to him as he grimaced. Alright, it's on now, he thought.
"VERY WELL! THEN PAY WITH YOUR BLOOD!" Came Nuada's response. To his utter annoyance, that albino pasty muffin ran off, only to surprise him by appearing again. He can make it to the brat before he'd even have a chance to leap back into the shadows, Nuada thought. With his shield at hand, he sprinted towards Fress, only to aim a hard ram with the hardest part of his Hylian shield right at Fress's nose with enough force to give a dizzying concussion.

Fress felt the full brunt of the hit, but he didn't fight back. At this point, he just wanted to die. No one had thought he was worth anything alive.
"Did you not hear me?" He groaned, "I'm asking for death, not a boot to the head."
