IF MEMORIES ARE SHADOWS
we'd best not waste the light
Charity spent a generous amount of days in Castle Town. Her healing magic came in handy helping the injured getting back up onto their feet so they could help with the relief efforts. But as time continued moving on, she knew she couldn’t stay for long. Her job required her to continue her postal service. Long distance communication was still in operating order and there was no doubt in her mind there were still many people trying to get a hold of their loved ones or contacts for help everywhere.
As she returned back to her work, she was put en route to Kakariko Village. It never ceased to amaze her how drastic the change in scenery was when she went from Lanayru to Eldin. Green grass as far as the eye could see suddenly turned into rust red earth. The land becoming rougher to travel on as you trekked further up the mountain. Situated in a crevice in the valley of the mountain was the remains of another country side town.
Though she did see several buildings rebuilt as more construction was happening. Rubble was carted away and people were still hustling and bustling to get their village back into functioning order. "Let's see... My delivery route starts..." She tried to pull out her address book but without looking to where she was going, she ended up crashing into someone.
"Eek!" Out came the humiliating squeak as she fell backwards onto the ground. Her letters scattering onto the ground as well from her bag open. "Fiddlesticks! Not again! Oh my goddesses, I'm so sorry!"
| Here ya go. Who she crashes into can be Cas or some random NPC. Either works |

He had spent most of the day relaxing; his efforts in the relief were strenuous on his body which was still healing. Each day seemed a little better though - or so he wanted to believe. The sooner he could get out of these bandages, the sooner he could begin his actual training.
After dipping into the spring to relax, he had returned back to his makeshift hut several relief workers had been staying in while they rebuilt the town. Changing into a fresh pair of clothes, he decided to meander the area, wanderlust digging into his skin like crazy.
He had never really traveled outside of Castle Town - but his childhood friend lived here for some time. Being away from the Capital brought to light just how serious these acts of terror were. Why they were happening, he still didn't understand.
As he was getting ready to leave the village to explore the outside area, he was suddenly pushed into and stumbled onto the ground hard. He let out a groan, the pain of his broken ribs clenching at his nerves and he felt as though he would vomit from the pain.
Trembling for a moment as he froze against the ground, he slowly felt his anger build inside of him as his head whipped around to look for whomever ran into him - but he quickly recollected himself to see a small woman squeaking in apology.
He rubbed the back of his head in confusion, looking over her carefully. She... didn't look like she belonged around these parts, or at the very least, wasn't familiar with them.
"It's fine," he said quietly, slowly pulling himself up while one arm remained tightly around his waist. "Just startled me, 'sall."
Taking note of the several letters that had scattered from her messenger bag, he was able to deduce that she was likely a postal girl. How interesting that the services still remain despite the absolute chaos that was each of the villages.
He felt a little bit bad that he couldn't really help her pick up her things, but the act of bending over to grab stuff from the floor hurt in ways he couldn't comprehend. "I'd... offer to help, but I'm... recovering," he sighed in annoyance.

IF MEMORIES ARE SHADOWS
we'd best not waste the light
Charity expected the young man she crashed into to scold her for being reckless. It wouldn't be the first time she’s completely embarrassed herself. The pink puffball had accepted perhaps it was her fate to leave the fantastic impression on everyone she meets that she is an amazing klutz with the grace of a fledgling goose. She stared dumbfound at the young man she ran into.
He wasn’t upset at all. Much to her relief, it was just a brief startle more than anything. She thanked the goddesses above for a kind encounter. So she took that cue in order to gather the letters that slipped out of her messenger bag. "It's fine! Really- I need to look out to where I am going. It's been a while since I last been to Kakariko- OH! You're hurt."
After picking up the last of her letters, she straightened her posture then walked up to Cassius. He did look like he was in a lot of pain. But she was told it wasn’t wise to go up to heal people all of the time. That was the quickest way for fairies to get captured and sold into slavery for their healing magic. "Did you get hurt from the tragedy that struck this village?" she ended up asking aloud.

She took note of his injury, and he grimaced before looking around. He had hoped that no one had seen their little accident because he was trying his hardest not to draw attention to himself.
Not that anyone really cared, he just hated when people watched him for no reason. When she had asked him if he was hurt by whatever was here, he shook his head side to side. Whatever it was that came here... it seemed to be taken down fairly quickly. He knew Ashei had been involved in helping halt its attack, but she didn't go into detail as to what it was.
"No, I was in Castle Town. I was one of the people helping take down the dragon--" he cut himself off quickly before sighing. "Trying to take it down, I should say. I didn't get very far before it crushed my ribs."
His hands folded into his arms as he looked around for a moment, a glisten of regret painting over his face before quickly wiping it off with a more neutral expression. "You seem to have a lot of letters, don't you? Isn't it a little bit dangerous to be traveling by yourself?"

IF MEMORIES ARE SHADOWS

Her mouth opened forming an o-shape in awe listening to his story. He confronted the dragon in Castle Town. If this were an ordinary day like no other, Charity would’ve insisted the man was joking. A tall tale a young man of his stature would say to compensate for probably a far more embarrassing accident than what he claimed. But she believed him. With the current state of Kakariko and what she witnessed in Castle Town while she was there? Why would he have any other reason to lie to her?
"That must've been terrifying," she said breathlessly. "How did you manage to stand up to the drake like that? I mean- It's very brave of you to confront it. I don't think I could've handled it." Reason being of the consequences of going up against a dragon. She saw the results in his injured state. Another reason why she wanted to heal him right away! But patience, dear fairy. Get to know the boy first then think about healing after.
... while he’s still in pain and suffering.
"It is because Ordon, Kakariko and Castle Town are in such a disarray that the postal service is all the more needed," she explained, "Even if it's dangerous, there's still people suffering out there... and with exchanging letters and packages as the only means of long distance communication, we have to do our best to keep contact with people to give aid and information they need." She left out the fact that she could fly. Wings made it possible to avoid land trouble. Not so much the aerial but semantics.

She asked how he had the courage to face that thing, but he honestly didn't. Pursing his lips at the thought, he paused his lips to collect an answer carefully, before sighing. "I was fully intending to let that thing run over the town and to save myself," he admitted.
He didn't even really help at all. He tore a wing and more of those beasts, and maybe caught a few on fire with Ashei's boomerang.
Ashei. That was the reason. "I saw someone I really care about also in the middle of that battle, and I couldn't let her fight alone. Turns out I ended up just holding her back," he smiled sheepishly before scratching the back of his head.
She was right about the need for postal services though - he just didn't know how organized it was after several cities being destroyed.
"I suppose that's how Kakariko found out about the relief efforts, and the arrival of injured civilians then," he nodded. He looked around for a moment before taking note of the several canopies set up for shade and water. "Are you in a hurry? If not, I could grab you some water for your journey."
