SO SAY THE WORD AND I'LL BE RUNNING BACK TO FIND YOU Seyka made a promise albeit a rushed one, but it was still one all the same; she was determined to keep. She could feel butterflies fluttering in the pits of her stomach. To say she wasn’t nervous in returning back to the princess was the biggest lie. True as it may be, she did her best in the situation she was in; unfortunately there wasn’t anything anyone could tell her otherwise the simple fact of the matter was… It wasn’t enough. Many lost their lives? And for what? Bitter affairs from long ago. The greenette looked down at the Golden Bow still in her possession. Her grip was firm, but she couldn’t keep her palms from shaking. Failure. She felt like a failure as a Knight. To her comrades who lost their lives. To the city she was meant to protect. To the Princess whom she swore her life to serve. Stronger. She needed to become stronger. That was her mission from here on out. Ah but she couldn’t avoid the inevitable for much longer. It was time. Seyka redirected her gaze back to the corridors finally arriving to her destination. The guards stood stiff in front of the princess’ chambers. Their helmets turning to face Seyka, giving her their attention, before saluting her and allowing her entrance. She stepped inside. Her heartstrings were pulled tight at the visage of Hyrule’s Monarch. Still, she proceeded to the middle of the room. Stopping, she performed a small bow in the presence of the princess. She would've gotten to her knees, but the ghostly pain of her broken ribs reminded her she could do no such thing. “Princess Zelda,” she uttered softly, “It’s me, Seyka. I’ve come to return your bow. Although I did promise to return it... My lady, please forgive me for borrowing it so brashly.” tag: Princess Zeldanotes: Here we go~ I'LL SOAR THE ENDLESS SKIES FOR ONLY ONE SIGHT OF YOUR STARLIGHT

In her current ...let's just call it a 'state', shall we, the princess had managed to find many things a greater concern to her than the return of her bow. Her dress had been torn apart during Alex's attempts to get access to her wounds and she now wore her bedsheets to protect her modesty. It suited her just fine for the moment being, really. She wasn't feeling up to moving around anyway. There was just the matter of all the blood stains... Certainly, she had seen better days. But so had her bow. They'd both survived battles they'd had little right to, been forced into uncomfortable positions and somehow found their way back to their rightful place by the day's end.
The tiniest of smiles graced her face at the sight of Seyka, barely noticeable and fading just moments after its arrival. "I do wish I could stand and greet you properly, Lady Rozengale, but I'm afraid that circumstances will not permit me such grace." Zelda would reply after a moment's thought. She would, however, dutifully make the effort to meet Seyka's eyes from her current position, one ear lazily drooping a bit over her tilted head. "...Though I was unable to wield it myself or consent to its temporary release from my possession, it is my belief that through you it was ultimately able to find its true calling: warding off Hyrule's Bane. You are... forgiven." Zelda offered in reply, reassuring Seyka that she had made the right choice. Given the circumstances, had she been of a proper state of mind, she probably would have allowed Seyka to take it anyway.
"--But what became of my bow? And for that matter, what became of you? ...I have heard that in spite of everything, my kingdom still stands." Zelda went on to softly request in a curious tone. The way she'd phrased her question was, perhaps, slightly unusual. She'd singled Seyka out for concern. |

SO SAY THE WORD AND I'LL BE RUNNING BACK TO FIND YOU In respect of Zelda’s current situation, Seyka remained as dignified and respectful to ensure nothing would give way to damage the Princess’ pride any further. “It is perfectly understandable, your highness. Please, I do not wish for you to strain yourself.” Her head remained low acknowledging even in the present matters she was still right before the ruler of Hyrule. The words that left the brunette’s lips flew through the air and into Seyka’s as she was given forgiveness. “Thank you, my lady. You’re most gracious,” she said with gratitude. She did feel relief ease her worried mind of any ill-deeds would come from such a careless act. Even if the act was done with good intentions. The air was cleared and that was all the greenette needed to have her own peace of mind. The questions that came afterwards were no doubt an inevitable. Seyka lifted up her head to fully meet Zelda’s sapphire blue eyes. “Just when things felt at a loss, the Hero of Time arrived and saved us. He held off the Sheikah girl cloaked in shadows and managed to convince the Lightbringer to see the girl was the bigger threat. Sir Elessar took you out of the battlefield without any further prompt while Princess Midna followed him,” she explained the first part. “What happened afterwards with the Lightbriner, the Hero of Time and the shadow woman... and with Sir Elessar and Midna eludes me. Nobody knows what happened to them. The youth from Ordon, the one named Link… He still had fight left in him and decided to help those who were opposing the shadow drake in the city. I decided to follow and utilize the bow to help fell the dragon.”Seyka was not a bard who could weave eloquent stories, but she did the best she could to explain it to the best of her ability. She did her best to ensure her moves remained rigid and composed. Careful not to anger the pain in her chest. “Mundane weapons were pointless to the drake. If struck, shadow spawns appeared and made it difficult on the defenders. Only magical weapons effected them–especially the bow with the light arrows. Among the defenders... was one of Midna's people, a twili who went inside of the dragon and hurt it from the inside. But after it went inside the shadow dragon's form melted away and left a small army of shadow spawns, we managed to pick them off slowly.” tag: Princess Zeldanotes: I apologize for the word vomit report. orz I'LL SOAR THE ENDLESS SKIES FOR ONLY ONE SIGHT OF YOUR STARLIGHT

...Fascinating. As Zelda quietly considered everything Seyka was telling her, she came to a sudden realization. Seyka was a pretty smart woman! It sounded like she'd picked up on that drake's weaknesses pretty easily and acted on them in time to make a difference, all without any advanced preparation. Or at least, she had to surmise that Seyka hadn't known how to fight a dragon beforehand. That seemed pretty reasonable to her. She'd be lying if she said she wasn't impressed. --Also, apparently there was a really awesome twili gut spelunker making her feel inadequette about herself wandering around Hyrule. ...Y'know, on second thought she could settle for being a little less brave than that. Regardless, after everything they'd been through recently, it gave Zelda an idea. "...You did very well, and I could not help but appreciate your words in the face of the lightbringer's treachery." Zelda thoughtfully remarked. She shifted to hold out a hand, as if to request the bow. However, it was abnormal for the princess not to use her words. And before Seyka would be able to comply with what might appear to be an implied request, something else would float down from its place atop a bookshelf to sit in the palm of her hands.
...It was the insignia of a knight-captain, unseen since Keldric's fall and subsequent involuntary retirement. Well--y'know. Unless you visited the dude. There was a good chance he'd been allowed to keep his in honor of his service.
"...In fact, you went above and beyond what I could have reasonably expected of my knights. Such actions deserve recognition. If it would befit you, I would ask you to be my knight-captain--and to continue to wield that bow in my name." |

Everyone was entitled to forge their own unique destiny, but the moment that required spilling blood, no matter the reason… then it was a future Hyrule didn’t need. But it appeared some considered the state of the Kingdom too lax. Many years of peace has given a false sense of security to the realm nothing could harm them. Now in the wake of all that transpired, perhaps it is time to show those who stand against them, they were wrong. This conviction will not be hollow words. Not if Seyka was still living and breathing. “Thank you, my lady.” It was a knight’s duty to defend and protect their leader. However meager those efforts were, Seyka won’t shirk away that it surviving the experience to learn from it was valuable in itself. Princess Zelda was still alive as well. “I don’t believe we should be held down by the preconceptions of the past. Not one person is the same in this life as the one of another. We are who we are. Same goes for you, my lady.”She lifted her head softly to meet Zelda’s eyes as she spoke up once more. A small item floated over to her direction. When she got a better look at it, her eyes widened softly. The Crest of the Knight Captain. This originally belonged to Sir Keldric, but due to events she learned too late of, he was no longer available to hold that rank. “My lady…” she said with a loss of word. She wanted to protest. Surely, there was someone else far better suited to take up the mantle? The greenette wanted to ask if the princess was sure she wanted someone like her? Seyka wanted to say she was unworthy. But then another question came up that she couldn’t help but ask, “Do you believe this is a step in the right direction? We can make a difference, for the best of Hyrule, from now on?”If she took this mantle, then it would be for the best of the people. It was to ensure history doesn’t repeat itself. “I will not lie, princess,” she said softly, “I don’t believe myself worthy. But then I had to ask myself… if not now, then when? While I don’t feel ready or worth my salt… I will accept it. If only to make a difference, I'll do my best so that I can become worthy of this privilege. To be the best for the people. It would be an honor to be your sword and shield.”She lowered her head one more time before her ruler. tag: Princess Zeldanotes: Late, late, late. I am so sorry! ;w;

Zelda's eyes flickered with curiosity at Seyka's choice of words. No one person was the same in this life as the one of another. What a bold statement. Though she had little reason to deride the other, she had to wonder if Seyka truly believed what she was saying. "There are some who would say that we all carry the weight of our pasts with us, and that some just have the benefit of being more aware of it than others." Zelda thoughtfully replied, recalling the sight of the Hero of Time not too long ago. The significance of his presence to their current conversation was not lost on her. "I question the certainty of that statement, however." Zelda went on to clarify after a moment with a sad little shake of her head. It was easy to look to the past for answers when the future was so very obscured. Yet, there lied a fundamental flaw with such a way of looking at the world.
If the past was such a great place to look to, why had it lead up to the brink of destruction?
"...I believe in you." Zelda decisively replied after a good moment's consideration. Rarely was she so concise in her praise. "And I certainly intend to try my best--for Hyrule and its people. You're also welcome to my counsel, if you ever find that you are in need advice or aid. I would hate for you to think that my sword and shield are not entitled to my helping hands~" Zelda went on to offer, flashing a rather inviting smile. "I only wish I could stand and face you as I speak. It feels rude, even if I know it isn't." Zelda went on to add in a slightly more light-hearted tone. "Hopefully it won't be long before I can rectify that..." |
