[attr="class","ohlove"] both were silent. there were ways for kicking and screaming. Honestly where the hell was she? He turned his back for one minute to get things and all of a sudden she'd gone off somewhere. Typical. He hoped she didn't get too far, and he hoped that she wouldn't cause too much trouble. But an... what was she exactly? An imp? Yeah sure, they'd go with that. An imp was an imp and an imp had impish tendencies to get into impish trouble. Which also meant that in some ways, he would almost certainly be responsible for whatever trouble she'd managed to get herself into. Which meant he'd probably have to pay for it. He wasn't paying for it, she could just deal with the consequences of her actions!
Of course, that train of thought went out the window with all the sudden chaos going around him. Overhearing the excited murmurs and gasps, it didn't take him long to realize what was going on. Apparently Princess, or was it Queen now? Had the coronation taken place? Regardless, Zelda was making an appearance, and people were naturally flocking to see their beloved ruler. Hard not to, he imagined. He'd heard a million good things about her but nothing bad. She was a young woman wise beyond her years. Her judgment was just and fair. A ferocity tempered by diplomacy. The greatest beauty in all the world. Yes, over time the image of Zelda given to him was quite positive.
And he was going to catch a glimpse.
He also didn't do well in crowds, so it'd be from the sidelines. Walking down the street, in the opposite direction that everyone else was running, he found himself stopping at a small little stand, selling drinks in the hot summer day. A simple order was given for some cold sun tea. The tea was poured, the sawdust wiped off the ice before being dropped in the drink, and Alex sat his lone self down at a table to watch the procession. Nice and out of the way, away from all the eyeballing that the royalty was about to endure.
But at least he'd get to see if she lived up to anything he'd heard. Zelda was certainly a looker, but that was obviously deep within the realm of personal taste. She was a proper lady by any standard, delicately and carefully primped every morning to enhance her natural hylian beauty. It could be seen in the way she held herself, the way she walked, the look in her eyes. She didn't have a bone in her body that was just 'one of the boys', a far cry from the humble farmer's wife. In spite of the recent closes call on her life in Ordon Village, the princess held herself with confidence--false confidence. In reality, she was deeply troubled by what she'd seen. Not just the monster, but the way she'd been treated by those around her. From the way she'd been verbally abused to the way one of her own trusted guards had chosen to betray her trust. It had ultimately turned out for the best, ...but what if it hadn't? It made her wonder. Had she overestimated the loyalty she was owed? Had she made a terrible misjudgement of her people's needs?
She had to try and dismiss those feelings from her mind though. They'd linger for far too long if she didn't and she didn't want to appear melancholy to the common folk as she passed. They didn't deserve to be burdened with such a thought.Just then though, something extremely jarring distracted her. A grown man sat by the side of the road not far from a drink stand, a sign in his hands. He was begging, but he didn't look the part of a beggar. He was fit and pretty cleanly. It looked like he was taking pretty good care of himself. Zelda subtly signalled to her guards that she wished for them to stop, parting from them only slightly to approach the man.
"Sir..?" Zelda began, grabbing his attention. He was alert, but the look in his eyes was distant--maybe even a little cold... Zelda didn't like that look. It made her uneasy, but the rest of his body language didn't speak of hostility. The princess hesitantly offered him her gloved hand. It was impolite to sit while speaking to royalty unless they were also sitting, but she didn't expect him to know that. He just needed ... a guiding hand! "How have you found yourself here on the street, if you don't mind me asking..?" the princess would ask in mild bewilderment.
"I lost everything. Ordon Village. Family and farm. ...Heard you tried your 'best'." the man replied. Between his broken speech patterns and his heavily muscled body build, she had no trouble believing him. He also hadn't taken her hand. "I'm sorry for your loss, ...but you do still have an able mind and body. I'd like to offer you aid in getting back on your feet if you' be willing to accept a job with the royal family." Zelda would apologize and go on to offer. This seemed to get a reaction out of the man, who hadn't quite been expecting that. He was healthy enough to be a knight. The details would all be in the training. The way she saw it, the choice to offer him aid was both easy and effective. It was an investment into her own kingdom for the most part that happened to do a lot for one man in the process. What could possibly be easier than a win/win solution?
Moments later, he had taken her hand and she helped him to his feet. With a brief explanation, he was sent off with a spare guard to figure out what sorts of jobs he could be offered, as well as some other logistical needs like a new home and food. |

[attr="class","ohlove"] [attr="class","lacking"] [attr="class","eyes"]✎ tag: Princess Zelda ✉ notes: zelda done good/goofed both were silent. there were ways for kicking and screaming. Well, the way that she handled the Ordonian managed to explain how she had retained her massive amount of approval despite some events that had occurred. She had a stronger presence in the city, they didn't want to see their monarch hurt. He knew that the Nobles had been particularly worked up into a fit when they found out she had gone to begin with. The people out in the country was a bit lukewarm to her leaving Ordon but in the end, as far as the country was concerned; they were only peasants. Their opinions, at least in this city, meant absoutely nothing. She was also quite the looker too, he'd at least give them that. Still, that took some time settling in. Midna, that little imp, wasn't lying. Unless she was the one responsible, and that he doubted, then everything she was saying was the truth as to what was happening. That also meant there was something really nasty running around Hyrule. While what had been in the village had been apparently destroyed, it didn't seem to match Midna's description; what if there were more of them? Needless to say, something had to be done about these creatures from... wherever they came from. And so he made a decision, and a scene. Taking a moment to finish off his tea, he grabbed a napkin, pulled out a quill and inkwell, and scribbled something down real quick while she got to work with that man. With that, he capped the inkwell, put everything away, and stepped out into the road, shoving aside the crowds, and got in the Princess's way. And he refused to move. He'd match any attempt to get around him to keep her there. The height of stupidity, but it would get his point across. He hated causing scenes and hated being the center of attention but well, he knew things she didn't, knew people she didn't. If this thing was going to be stopped, they had to prepare for everything. So, realizing that this would either end in success or potential time in a dungeon, or both. Or maybe getting shot. That would be bad too. He carried on, but he likely wouldn't get another chance to get a hold of her before it attacked again. And well. good of the realm, and all that, he figured. "Your highness, I'm Alexander Elessar, a Warden. I have information about Ordon you should know." He remarked softly, holding up the napkin he had previously scribbled on. His eyes trailed to the crowds on the side. Right, they're going to be getting rowdy soon he figured. He hoped Midna got back to him soon. It was honestly about time they got some official aid for this, and about time that the imp stopped hiding around. Still, he held up the napkin, his hastily scribbled message at least legible... probably. There's more of them. Need to talk in private. Have someone you need to meet. After all, no need to rile everyone else up with a message of doom. Forget the dungeons. Alex was going to get himself killed! To aggressively approach royalty like that in front of their guards was to find oneself on the wrong end of their spears. It was their job, after all, to act before the assassin went for the kill. Thankfully for Alex's sake though, Zelda was too kind-hearted to let that happen. She could've just stood there and the situation would've escalated out of control in seconds. One could see the alarm in her eyes as she recognized something was wrong. She knew she was in danger, but did not attempt to defend herself. Instead, she feigned helplessness and allowed her guards to give a warning. "Make way for the Princess of Hyrule!!" Zelda's remaining guard shouted, leveling a spear at Alex. It was very rare for her royal guard to make such a demand. They were generally very restrained... so long as they were allowed to do their job. Yet, the guard would find a delicate arm held out before him, signaling for him to stand down.
As much as it was absolutely a crime to do what Alex had just done, Zelda had her doubts about that napkin killing her. This was clearly a mistake. A big mistake, but not one she wished to see anyone stabbed over. Her azure gaze spoke of severe discomfort, lolling her head at the other in a silent question. Why would you do something so reckless? Why put her in this terribly uncomfortable situation? As she did this, Zelda held out her hand to accept the napkin. She would hear the other out, even if she weren't certain what could possibly justify--
...Well.
"You must pardon my friend. He's merely forgotten his company." Zelda replied somewhat light-heartedly. At this, the guard finally seemed to relax. She had told a small lie by pretending to be personally acquainted with Alex for the explicit purpose of deescalating the situation. Zelda didn't see it as a lie, though. She saw it as a request, in the sense that she expected Alex to do his best not to make a liar out of her later. For now, though...
"I'd like to return to the castle now. Would you join me, Alexander?" Zelda went on to casually request. The implication, of course, was that his request for an audience had been granted.

[attr="class","ohlove"] both were silent. there were ways for kicking and screaming. Well that escalated fast. Alex stared down the guard for a bit. There was a bit of refreshment in it though. He expected to get shot but that didn't change the fact that some guards were considered, well, less than brave. Yes, that was the way to put it. However, it seemed like this one was willing to skewer Alex until Zelda stopped the guard and actually read the napkin before coming up with an elaborate lie. So they were friends now? Well, lucky him~ No, really, it was quite lucky. The underlying words that went unsaid revealed the truth but still, to be so openly called a friend of the Princess~
So, giving a pat on the shoulder to the guard who had just previously tried to shiv him with a spear, Alex fell in line with the Princess and kept the pace with the escort. It'd be some time before they got to the castle so they had time to talk about other things. He wondered how the events of Ordon weighed on her. Did they haunt her at night? Was she able to ignore them? The latter was a stupid question, she had glaring reminder only a few seconds past. Still, he'd give her some input, let her know. "You did the right thing, you know." He spoke rather softly. He wasn't sure how she handled it, but he wanted her to know that to him at least, she did well.
He looked over and gave her a soft smile. He was starting to see why people actually liked Zelda at least. Hearing him out was such a small thing, but it was a small thing that helped show that she honestly did care. "You're too precious to all of us." It was the best way he could word it without it coming across as coldly calculating and unfeeling. Zelda presented more than just a ruler and a potential heir, she gave Hyrule a symbol to latch onto. Whether she realized it or not, to lose the Princess again would be a blow he wasn't sure the kingdom would recover from. --Huh? Zelda was taken off guard by Alexander's words. She'd already started internally freaking out a little about all of the giant nightmare monsters apparently running around. How was she supposed to deal with that?? Somehow she doubted dealing with it without alarming anyone was an option. There were simply too many as far as she could tell. People would begin to question why villages kept vanishing off the face of the earth. Trying to keep things uner wrap would do more harm than good. ...But what was the alternative? Heroes and guard duty didn't usually mix, as demonstrated by Ashe not long ago. Even then, did she even have enough heroes under her breadth to protect her kingdom from an attack? She'd experienced what those things did to people first hand. That was what truly haunted her. Memories of being eaten away at, of being trapped, of feeling helpless and revolted. She was scarred from the first-hand experience for sure, a weight upon her mind that not even magic could relieve her of. The knowledge that her people had suffered a similar fate, though...
She was inconsolable.
Death was a debt that could not be repaid, a stain on her reign she could not simply remove. And what a terrible way to go; there was no honor or glory in being digested. One could not avenge the people of Ordon. Trying was nothing but a kind gesture to the living, and a rather shallow one when more of these things still threatened the kingdom. What if there were more than they could possibly hope to hunt down? What if they just kept appearing and they needed to be hunting the source instead? Could the source be even more terrifying..? She owed her people a better reign than this. One important question stood out to her. Why was this happening to now?
...Maybe Alexander would help her gain a better understanding soon.
Zelda offered a half-hearted smile in return out of politeness. She didn't seem like a very good liar, really. There was a saying that one's eyes were a window to the soul, but in Zelda's case this extended to her lips as well. ...Don't ask what her soul was doing in there. It likes to wander. "...Thank you. We were ill prepared for such extraordinary circumstances, but I'm grateful that we were able to put an end to the beast that took Ordon without losing any additional lives. I only wish that the village may someday shake free the weight of what happened there." Zelda replied, equally as soft. |

[attr="class","ohlove"] [attr="class","lacking"] [attr="class","eyes"]✎ tag: Princess Zelda ✉ notes: see? they can bond >w> both were silent. there were ways for kicking and screaming. Ill prepared, huh? Sounded like the usual story concerning whatever the hell was going on around here. "From what I understand, no one is." Of course, Midna had survived. Zelda had survived. Her knights had survived. They now had a better idea of what to expect. Maybe they'd all be able to put together something to hunt down the source and eradicate it entirely. So how many had this all made? There was Midna's guard wherever she came from, and now Ordon. Two towns, or was where Midna came from a town? Either way, lots of people had been killed and they now were only able to start mobilizing.
Alex shook his head though. Ordon would never shake it off. It would be a black spot in its history that no one would ever forget. A tragedy that all who lived in the village would pass down. Simply put, why would anyone want to name it Ordon? "Don't know if they'd name it Ordon." It hurt too much for many. They had family in Ordon. People they loved, all gone in the span of a single day, that they could never get back. "I think for a lot of people it'll carry too many bad memories." Who could want to call such a cursed place home after the tragedy that took place? Zelda and the others had destroyed the monster, but the damage was already done.
Still, he wondered. If that man was anything to go by, not everyone died. He looked at Zelda again. "Did anyone else survive?" He'd heard no word on Rusl. The fact that he was gone was a bit more chilling than he wanted to admit. There wasn't a Warden alive who didn't know of that man, and the fact that he was gone would surely be felt throughout them all. --Other survivors? Zelda stopped for a brief moment. The truth was that she hadn't personally seen many. How could she? She was a busy woman. Yet, she was aware of the existsance of survivors. How did she phrase such an answer without addressing her inability to directly oversee every individual. It would be so easy to imply negligence if she chose her words properly, but of course this was simply a matter of delegation. "Survivors have been slowly finding their way to Castle Town..." Zelda began somewhat hesitantly. Her tone suggested that slow in this case probably meant few. "However, we cannot yet be sure how many still fled elsewhere. Due to the nature of the attack, there weren't any remains to identify." Zelda explained. Even she couln't maintain a positive demeanor at that last part. Sometimes she worried about the person who called that their job--and she didn't even know their name! It must be far grimmer work than it even sounded.
Soon, Zelda would have brought Alex to her bedroom. It was the only 'truly' private place she had. She hesitated a moment at the door, though. ...The princess sure hoped no one happened to be watching. She could imagine the rumors that came with her bringing a man into her room unsupervised and they were irritating her already. Then again, though, her court would probably love that. They were always concerned with a heir and she hadn't even properly taken the throne yet! She still was the heir technically and they were already thinking of replacing her! How she loathed that entire train of thought. Couldn't she have a few more year before they started bothering her? ...Oh well. She'd grant their wishes someday--...right?
Opening the door after a long moment's hesittion, she turned to address Alexander. "Will this do? |

[attr="class","ohlove"] [attr="class","lacking"] [attr="class","eyes"]✎ tag: Princess Zelda ✉ notes: yeah no this is so getting out <w< both were silent. there were ways for kicking and screaming. The rest of the trip back to the castle was done in silence, but for Alex, it was a comfortable silence anyway. No doubt the town would be ablaze of the human man that Zelda had taken back to her castle, especially after that little stunt. Midna would have no problem finding them from there, that was for sure. Not that the guards could really stop her either. Yes, he expected to notice his shadow was suddenly a little different than what it usually was, and from there he would either introduce her, or she would make herself known in her usual way. For a princess she sure could be pretty pushy... although they always were? Well, pushier than usual for a princess maybe. That might have made more sense.
What Alex did not expect however, was to be taken to her bedroom. He'd honestly expected an emptied out throne room, but this was well, it caught him off guard. In a truly rare moment, Alexander Elessar was utterly flustered. Truly and utterly gobsmacked. He was going to be alone. In the princess's room. With the princess. Alone. "I-I um, y-yeah. This'll... this'll do." He finally managed to get out. Yeah there was no way this wasn't turning into a scandal. Well, good of the realm and all that. Plus hey, there were worse scandals to be at the center of, right? He stepped in, noticing just how completely fancy everything looked. Most of the items in here were worth more than he'd make in a year. Royalty, man.
Deciding to make himself just a little comfortable, he took his vest off, sat down on the edge of her bed, and neatly folded it across his lap. Where to start? "I'll say what I can as I feel others should be left to that someone I mentioned. She'll probably be here soon once the rumors of someone going back to the castle with you start spreading." He looked up for a moment when he realized what he said, waving it away to try and make it make some sense. "Don't worry about her getting in. She can move through shadows. No lock's going to keep her out." So don't even try.
"From what I've gathered, the origin of this mess is a creature that came through this... Twilight Realm." Really it'd been the first he'd heard of it. But the Royal Family had access to the most obscure information, so maybe Zelda knew what it was. "Supposedly this creature massacred a good portion of the population there before coming here." And really, Ziegess would've been the end of it but, "I say there's more because the monster at Ordon, from what a Warden told me, doesn't match the description that my friend gave me." So the first one was still out there. Still, friend? Did he consider Midna a friend now? He looked up at Zelda, awaiting what would surely be questions. Zelda just sort of raised brows, her ears drooping slightly in anxiety, as Alexander went out of his way too explain to her exactly why she should find this friend of his getting in. She really didn't like that idea. This was her room! It was one thing if she invited people in, but waltzing in without permission? What if she was changing or something?? . . . Zelda quietly began dismissing those thoughts. They were both women; Alex's friend probably enjoyed the thought about as much as she did. Or at least, that's what she resolved to believe. She supposed she'd just have to be thankful she slept in pajamas. "...If anyone asks, either there's nothing to talk about or I forgot something in my room." Zelda offered, trying to organize some damage control before the rumors even started spreading. That being said though, there were really more important things to be discussing right now, and so she left that off-handed comment to stand on its own. With any luck, it would be something she could choose not to dignify with a response. People could think what they pleased, and she could worry about more worthy things.
Y'know, like the murderkiller monsters apparently arriving en masse.
Listening to what Alex had to say about that, Zelda made a series of startling discoveries. From the apparent relevance of the Twilight Realm to the apocalyptic tone of what had gone down there. ...A single creature... destroyed an entire realm. ...Damn it. That thought alone was deeply upsetting to Zelda. Not just because of all the death and loss this implied, but because she had no idea how Alex expected her to react to such a horrific thought. " . . . We need to stop it from doing the same thing to our realm." Zelda responded rather simply, not even bothering to try and address the details. She hadn't really been given the details that were actually important to make sure it didn't kill more people, like where it might strike next or how they were supposed to defeat it, since it certainly sounded stronger than te one she'd seen. |

[attr="class","ohlove"] [attr="class","lacking"] [attr="class","eyes"]✎ tag: Princess Zelda✉ notes: none are safe from sass both were silent. there were ways for kicking and screaming. We need to stop more people from dying? Alex looked at Zelda like that was the most obvious thing in the world. He blinked once as he soaked it in before nodding solemnly. Yes, this would be a necessary thing. Shameful perhaps, but necessary. He looked the princess right in the eyes and deadpanned the words as bluntly as he possibly could. "No shit." He could practically hear the yowling nobles from the room. How dare someone speak to the princess like that! Or even use such language in her presence! She was no commoner, she was no peasant! She was be treated with all the respect that one gave a divine monarchy!
He was about to continue when there had been a knock at the door, and a familiar (well, to Zelda) voice called out. Apparently they hadn't been alone. "Your highness, when you and your, erm, friend, yes? Yes! When you and your friend are finished, there is a... Link here from Ordon to see you about an invitation?" He sounded positively giddy! Oh yes, the Court mage was totally going to float on over to Ashe and tell her about Zelda's visitor, it was so nice for the Princess to be meeting people! "Shall I tell him you are, um, preoccupied?" After all, it was so rare for her to be doing something that wasn't work related, she should get a break~
"So he survived then." Alex observed. Well, there was someone that he recognized anyway. "If you're going to go, mind if I go with you? I met the guy when Ordon came under attack by a different threat." It'd be good to see the guy again, thank him for letting Alex crash at his house while recovering, maybe rip on him a bit for having gone all the way back to Ordon to light a fire instead of grabbing a goddamn torch. Good times. Midna would be able to find them. Maybe it'd be long enough for Midna to catch up to him. The princess' eyes lit up with shock. For a moment she was just kind of apalled that Alex thought this was the time for such remarks, but then her surprise gave way to a profound disappointment. Not just because she still had no idea how to actually defend against these things without at least knowing where they might attack next, but because her trust had been betrayed. Dang, Alex! She called you her friend! That was cold. ...Also a lot of people were going to die. That too.
--And then eavesdropping became a concern. Zelda grit her teeth in frustration, only to jump at the suggestion that she was busy. "Nnno~! I will be with him shortly!" Zelda called out, making the effort to be pleasant even if her mind was currently in a dark place in actuality. Getting back up, she seemed to take a deep breath to physically aid in getting herself into the right mindset for the task ahead of her. "That would be most appreciated, Mr. Elessar." Zelda softly replied. Maybe she was being paranoid, but a part of her felt that having a man visit her room and them promptly leave when he was finished might spread an even less dignified rumor that she wanted no part of. Shifting to make sure she had her royal longsword on her person, she would soon proceed to offer to lead the way out--pausing just long enough to hold the door open for Alex as she exited. |

[attr="class","ohlove"] [attr="class","lacking"] [attr="class","eyes"]✎ tag: Princess Zelda✉ notes: incoming climax [EXIT] both were silent. there were ways for kicking and screaming. When the door opened, the man who stood on the other side was instantly recognizable to Zelda. His long, white hair and orange eyes was enough. But then the baggy robes and the black staff in his hand made it even more clear who he was. After an absence, it seemed that Jace L'Arachel had returned to grace the world with his presence. He looked at Zelda, then at Alex, and raised an eyebrow. He shot the princess a look that didn't need words to communicate. Come on, your highness. You can do so much better than this. There were times where even Jace had to speak up in his own way.
Of course, Alex was aware of where this was all going, and as horrible as it might be in the long run, he really couldn't help but enjoy it in some small form. What man didn't want to be at the center of a scandal involving Zelda? As he approached the door, he appeared faint before laying the back of his hand over his forehead. "I guess you'll just have to take advantage some other time." He added fuel to the fire. He was teasing of course. The man was a commoner, and a human, and not a prostitute. Really, there was just no way it was going to work, and that was going off only what he knew about her. There were some secrets that were simply beyond his grasp.
He exited through the door, not really paying any mind to the Court Mage. It was as if the slimeball just didn't exist to him. He would be interested to meet the man from Ordon. Someone who was there to see the destruction firsthand, to fight the battle. He might offer better details than some stragglers, maybe compare it to what Midna had to say... she'd be there soon, she had to be. This would be the worst time for her to decide to bail on her tour guide.
