His alabaster fingers clutched at the edges of his verdant cloak, instinctively drawing it tightly around himself as the storm momentarily intensified. His hood slid from on top of his head prompting a sea of unruly, flaxen tresses to cascade down his back. Oddly enough, he made no effort to pull his hood forward once again but smiled wistfully to himself. His lips pursed slightly as he began to hum to himself, creating a synergistic melody with the droplets of water, the rustling of the grass and the occasional resounding clap of thunder. He stood perfectly still once he’d reached the shore of Lake Hylia, admiring the horizon as his thoughts turned to his previous encounter with King Zitos. They’d met in Castle Town and he’d agreed to accompany the Zora Royalty for the duration his visit. He’d requested only two things from the influential man, the first was that he accompany him to Lake Hylia to watch the sunset, and the second was to close his eyes in preparation for a surprise.

His cheeks reddened as he recalled the particular dance he’d elected to do for the King. It started out slowly, a seductive swish of his hips which quickly evolved into a fervent whirlwind of his limbs. His hand drifted underneath his cloak, his fingers curling around the ivory sphere that rested purposefully on his clavicle. For a second, if one could see his face they’d notice there was a slight sadness to it. He’d hoped to have a second encounter with the man, uncertain about the trek to Zora Domain. He was in conflict with himself. If he went to the Zora Domain, he’d literally get to see and experience a whole new world, one that was seldom see by his kind. At the same time, he felt it was selfish for him to indulge such a pleasure, to surrender himself to his deepest desire; to truly be free. Life, it just simply wasn’t fair, was it? His parents had dictated his entire life from the moment he was born, they’d chosen this lifestyle for him; he simply endured out of a fear of disappointing them.

Besides, it was too late to turn back now. He was already one of the Deku Palace Guards. He had an obligation to his King, his Queen and lastly his People. He was to be the spear for the weak, and the shield for the meek. He chuckled to himself as he admired the ripples that danced across the Lakes’ surface.

“It just isn’t fair.”

He softly murmured to himself, unaware of his audience that swam beneath the surface.
