From the news that reached him, Ordon's restoration had slowly begun. Did it make him selfish to want to check up on the efforts there? He'd expect to see Colin if he did, and truth be told, that was something he longed for. A lot happened since he left the swamp not too long ago and checking up on the younger lad would give him time to settle down for a small break. Plus, the idea of bringing Seyka to his former home appealed to him in a way he couldn't quite place his finger on.
"We'll be there in a few hours," he spoke up after a period of comfortable silence. "There's a stream nearby with plenty of grass. Lets give these two a break so they can graze. It wouldn't be a bad idea for us to eat as well." Truth be told, keeping Epona and his partner comfortable came before his own comfort, but he didn't want to pass up on the chance to rest all four of them in case it was awhile before another opportunity arouse.
He'd learned that pretty quickly in recent times. Eat, drink, and sleep whenever possible, because who knew when the next chance would be.
The provisions they had weren't the grandest in the world, but dried meat kept them going for the most part. It wasn't like they never had the chance to hunt or forage. In fact, doing that later would be a good treat to break away from the taste of dried cucco.
Link leaned against a tree, watching Epona merrily munch away on tuft after tuft of grass. "I wrote ahead of time to announce our arrival. Colin's a good man; I just hate that he had to grow up so fast." MADE BY ★MEULK

SO SAY THE WORD AND I'LL BE RUNNING BACK TO FIND YOU Why did it feel as if life was constantly trying to tip her over the edge? Cassie had already endured being forced from her first home in Castle Town, and now she had barely been able to escape the destruction of Ordon. Lucia was nowhere to be found no matter how hard she searched, and she did not know where to even start. Constant travel like this was not the sort of thing the young maiden was accustomed to. Her life had always been one of ease and relative comfort even in Ordon. Now she was out roughing it in a way she never would have wished for if she had known what the cost would be. Her ivory dresses had been traded in for far more practical clothing for traveling, but she knew she looked a little worse for wear. There was little she could do with her hair without the help of Lucia, so it was left hanging around her shoulders and down her back. A soft sigh escaped her as she ran a hand through her loose hair. Recent news had reached her that Ordon Village was slowly being rebuilt, and so she was making her way back on the off chance that Lucia would be there. Cassie took a moment as she raised her head and her eyes glowed briefly as she took a more precise look around Hyrule Field. The sun was strong in the clearless sky above, which gave her the full range of her ability. Her blue eyes widened as she instantly zeroed in on a very familiar face and another familiar one from her early years of childhood. Was that Link and Seyka? He had survived the attack? How in the world had the two of them met? It did not matter, because Cassie was running as quickly as her legs could carry her. The fact that they also had horses made her feel somewhat jealous as well. "Link! Link!" she cried out once she was close enough. Surely both of their Hylian hearing would catch her voice in the summer breeze by now. Tears burned at her eyes as she finally found one survivor from the village and a friend she had not seen in over five years. By the Goddesses, perhaps her luck was finally turning around? Her entire expression was alight with relief and joy at seeing the two of them whole and unharmed. Cassie skidded to a halt before the tree Link was resting against as she vibrated with the urge to literally throw herself at him to make sure this was real. tag: Link Seyka Rozengalenotes: Yay for reunion before more angst~ I'LL SOAR THE ENDLESS SKIES FOR ONLY ONE SIGHT OF YOUR STARLIGHT

It eased her heart to hear the news of the villages immediately starting up on the restoration efforts. The idea of homes of many coming back from the destruction brought upon them allowed the greenette to relinquish the stress of knowing many lost their homes before. So when hearing about Ordon Village returning and being improved beyond it’s formal glory, it didn’t surprise Seyka that Link would like to visit the efforts made. She had no quarrels with visiting where he grew up and called his home. It was sweet, in a unique way, he was sharing a part of his life with her. It was always in her plan to pay a visit to the other towns and villages spread across Hyrule, but she didn’t think the reason she’d be doing it now was for something as big as what they’ve gotten themselves into. Thinking back on it now, she realized one of her childhood friends had been sent out to live in Ordon Village. They kept in contact as best as they could before the fall, but now Seyka hasn’t heard a word from Cassandra. Would she be part of the group effort restoring Ordon? Would she come back to the village when it’s returned back to it’s functioning state? “It’s funny,” she said with a wistful smile, “When we’re children, we have this mindset about growing up much sooner, but now that we stand taller than we did in the past… the days of youth seem far more peaceful, doesn’t it?” Though she will not lie, she was grateful for one silver lining through the hardships that followed. She got to meet amazing people through these hardships. Her train of thought was instantly met with the sound of a distant voice. “Link… Hang on. Somebody’s out there in the distance. They're coming our way.” Seyka instantly halted her white stallion, Aslan, to hear where the sound was coming from. Her bright eyes focused in on the arriving figure. But as the visage started to become clearer, Seyka’s eyes widened. “Ca… Cassie?” she uttered. But she was calling out for Link. A wry thought crossed her mind: Hyrule is either really small, or Link was practically a walking magnet for people drawn to him. Though if Link was born and raised in Ordon and Cassandra was sent to live there with her bodyguard, it made sense Link and Cassandra's paths would intertwine. She slipped off of her horse and rushed over to meet the blonde maiden halfway. Without her noble attire, the young woman looked so much different than before. Though she could be said considering she was wearing a crimson tunic with the Royal Family’s crest emblazoned on it. She was sporting chain mail underneath and armored for mobility in combat. “Cassie! By Farore's wind, you’re alive. Thank the Goddesses! I’ve missed you so much!” tag: Link, Cassandra Amellnotes: I'm late. I'm very, very late. Sorry ;w;

The days of youth did seem much more peaceful. Precious as well, tugging at his hear strings in a way that caused him to ache for the path. But as beautiful as the memory of it was, men walked blindly to their own demise by living in it for too long. Pull it down and enjoy it for awhile, then push forward to see what the new day would bring.
Oh, dear. Not even middle age and already a sentimental man. He had a long way to go.
A voice, familiar in the distance, and Seyka's added words caused the blond to rise to his feet. It didn't take long to see the figure hurdling toward them. He moved quickly to meet Cassandra before she skidded to a full stop, his hands immediately flying to her waist to hoist her into the air and spin her around in a full circle. Laughter laced him in a breathless fashion and he crushed the young woman against his chest in a tight embrace. "You're a sight for sore eyes, Cassie. What in the world are you doing out here?!"
Alive. She was alive. Someone else from Ordon survived the attack. That made, as far as he was aware, three for sure who were... But it gave him hope that there were others. And with them, Ilia. He'd fine her soon. He just needed some more time. More luck. More strength.
It dawned on him, fairly late mind you, that he wasn't the only one to recognize the figure now being held against his chest. He glanced passed Cassandra's hair to blink at Seyka, glanced down at the blonde, then back to the greenette. "Wait. Do you two know each other?" MADE BY ★MEULK

SO SAY THE WORD AND I'LL BE RUNNING BACK TO FIND YOU Cassie was both delighted and surprised when Link met her as she skidded to stop only to place his hands upon her waist and hoist her into the air. A breathless laugh escaped her as her hands immediately found purchase upon his shoulders to maintain her own balance. A rush of pure joy and elation flooded her veins as Link spun her around before bringing her close to his chest. The young woman clung closely to her friend as she closed her eyes for a moment to merely press her ear against his chest to listen to his heartbeat. It was a strong, thrumming song that soothed the last of her fears away that this was all an elaborate dream in her desperation to find any of her friends. If Link and Seyka were safe and sound, then surely Lucia had to be out there somewhere as well? It was the only hope she clung onto to keep herself going at this point. "I've been traveling for weeks after Ordon was destroyed. I was looking for Lucia or any news of you and the others, and here you are just fine and dandy!" she scolded with a tearful laugh. Her heart stuttered for a brief moment when she suddenly remembered that another important person to her was there as well. Oh, how silly of her! Cassie had been so caught up within Link's embrace that Seyka had briefly slipped from her mind. That made her feel like such a terrible friend, but at least she could make up for her momentary lapse in judgment now! Cassie burst into giggles as Link questioned the fact that the two of them somehow knew one another. No, she had never brought up much about her life before Ordon with Link had she? The past six years of her life had been spent in secret and caution in regards to nearly everything. "Forgive me, Link. Yes, Seyka and I were childhood friends when I lived in Castle Town. We stayed in touch with one another through letters, but it has been along while since we last saw one another," she explained. The young woman leaned up to place a brief kiss against Link's cheek before slipping from his embrace to rush at Seyka. The feeling of chainmail against her much softer clothing had her losing her breath for a moment. Well, that would mostly like leave her ribs sore for a moment or two in her haste to embrace the slightly older woman. "I am so glad to see you safe and well! The fact that you are traveling with Link eases my heart as well. I dislike the idea of anyone traveling alone these days." tag: Link Seyka Rozengale notes: You turtles. ;3; I'LL SOAR THE ENDLESS SKIES FOR ONLY ONE SIGHT OF YOUR STARLIGHT
