"Wait a minute! Excuse me!"
One fine summer's afternoon, shortly after the destruction that befell the center of the kingdom, a man's voice called out to a passing knight - one of the small handful who had survived the assassination attempt of Princess Zelda. Finding the owner of the words didn't take much time. He stood by a wagon full of vegetables and fruit, an embarrassed flush on his face.
Shad smiled in an apologetic manner and rubbed the back of his head. "The wheel broke and I cannot for the life of me drag it the rest of the way to the market. If you are not in a hurry, would you mind lending a hand?" Judging by the sling keeping his right arm from falling limply against his side, it was amazing he'd been able to come so far without a horse in the first place.
But for Ashenne, he'd look a bit familiar. A face that might tug on her memories of younger days. Glasses smudged with tears, bruises on a child's face and arms. After years passed the two of them by, a chance meeting with a childhood acquaintance might be welcome. MADE BY MEULK

Though her name had not been called directly, she knew the voice was directed to her. Ashe had managed to escape the destruction of Castle Town and was now heading back to see if anything was left of her home. Her injuries from the battle with that shadow creature were still sore, but she could definitely move a lot better than that fellow who called her. Ashe's sense of duty kicked in (though it should have before anyone even asked) and she almost hobbled over to him. Her joints still needed a bit of stretching...
"Sure, what do you need me to, uh..." Her voice trailed off once she finally focused her gaze on him after surveying his cart. He looked very familiar to her, but she couldn't quite place it. For the moment, she brushed it off. Perhaps she had just seen him around Castle Town while doing a watch or something. She ignored the nagging feeling in the back of her mind and looked to the cart again.
Let's try this again. "What do you need me to do?" she questioned, placing her hand on the wooden side. Surely he didn't mean for a lady such as herself to push this cart by herself. Ashenne was in no way small at all, and her height rivaled most men but she was still a lady! Or perhaps just... lazy. She couldn't deny someone who needed help, but she could try to cut corners if she could. @shad let the fluff begin? *w* MADE BY ★MEULK

"It will not take a great deal of time or effort, I assure you." The man bowed his head quickly, then turned back to the wooden structure he needed to move. "The back two wheels are fine, but the front two are too damaged to work. If I lift one side and you life the other, we can drag it using the back two as support. It is heavier than one person can do alone. Two, I wager, will be just fine."
Relief efforts were in full swing. For the citizens of castletown and the workers brought in from other parts of Hyrule, the fruit and vegetables would be a welcome distraction to their empty stomachs. He couldn't do a lot of cooking with one arm injured as it was, but that didn't mean he was entirely incapable of making something tasty out of the fresh food.
"I can pay you," Shad added quickly, in case an incentive was the proper thing to do. Really, he wasn't used to asking for help in the first place, and in a time of crisis, he had no idea what the proper protocol was. Did knights take insult to that or did they enjoy the few rupees they picked up along the way? Ashenneto fluff you or angst you, tis the question c:< MADE BY MEULK

The amount of time it would take up didn't much bother her. Nor did the amount of effort she'd need to put in. Though still slightly injured and sore, she had no doubt she'd be able to help. Ashenne had told a fellow Knight that she'd try to help with any relief efforts the citizens would start... Albeit that was for Ordon. There was no way she would have guessed that Castle Town would have been wrecked as well... Thankfully, her small apartment hadn't been damaged too badly, and whatever items were shaken from their spot wouldn't have been noticeable among her mess anyway...
The dragoonness lifted one side of the wagon, leaving the other to Shad, making sure to get on the side where he wouldn't have to use his slinged arm. She had already lifted the wagon before he offered payment, which honestly did pique her interest and her gray eyes studied him as she pondered whether to accept that offer. She stole a glance at the fruits and vegetables in the cart before looking back to him with a goofy grin.
"Just make me something good out of something back there. I'll need to regain my energy after this." As if it would take a whole lot of energy... but if he offered incentive, why not make it food~ She could always use a delicious snack. @shad honestly both are good choices MADE BY ★MEULK

A low chuckle, deep from within his chest, escaped him, and he nodded. "Of course. Thank you, I truly mean this."
With the combined effort of the two of them, the trip to the destroyed market didn't take nearly as long as it would have with him by himself, broken wheel or no broken wheel. There were dozens of people rushing from place to place helping the injured in various stalls, moving wreckage to great better paths, and generally doing whatever they could to assist in whatever way was possible.
"How bad is your home?" Shad asked, his brow knitted. Letting go of the wagon once a decent place had been found, he started to unload the back of it, pulling wood out to create a fire. Once he fastened a large iron pot above the fire, he set to work on heating water for rice. It would serve as a good filler with the vegetables to keep everyone with full bellies.
"Mine got off luckier than some. It will only take a day to patch it up. I saw... quite a few buildings that completely came down. How could something like this happen? Is it true the princess almost...?" He didn't finish. He didn't need to; rumors ran rampant. MADE BY MEULK

Though the trip to Castle Town was silent, it was not awkward or uncomfortable. She oddly felt quite at ease in a situation where she'd almost certainly be trying to say something to fill the void. But she felt she didn't need to around him. How quaint.
When they reached the town, she could only look on with her brow furrowed and discomfort on her face. She had to help after this. She was one of the lucky few whose home was not destroyed and who could actually move without much pain. Her aches were still recovering but it was nothing debilitating. Ashe laughed a little awkwardly as he asked about her home. "Thankfully mine didn't get hit too hard," she admitted. Though even if it didn't get hit, it'd probably still look like it did. The diaster was still there, bit maybe with a bit more rubble and rocks than before...
Rumors about the Princess had been spreading like wildfire, just like the ones they were working to distinguish. Her face grew somber, and she spoke low and soft, "...I don't know... I am a Knight and even I am kept in the dark." @shad finally prettied MADE BY ★MEULK

Were the goddesses of the Triforce kind, they would smile upon the princess and ensure her full recovery. Medicine and techniques continued to advance with every year that passed by. Princess Zelda of Hyrule needed to live a long, wonderful life and pass on the legacy of her family. It was the hope of all people in the realm, and with what happened, people would be clamoring to show their support (or disapproval).
Catching on quickly, Shad immediately raised his hands in defense. "Oh, ah! I am sorry! I did not mean to... I-I said something that upset you. My deepest apologies, it was not my intention to touch on a disheartening subject." For all of his education, he didn't always have a tongue for empathy.
While he spoke, his hands were busy at work. A knife peeled an apple with practiced ease, and in just a few short moments after he apologized, he presented Ashe with a rose blossom carved from the apple. "The food will take some time, but this can be eaten right away. Sit by the wagon and relax for awhile. I would... ah, um... a-appreciate the company while getting things made up." His nearly panicked reaction made Ashe's eyebrow quirk. She swiftly raised a hand to wave it off. "It's no big deal, don't worry about it. The Knights will regroup and we'll find out what happened. We have to keep her safe, if she even is." Gods she hoped Zelda was safe. The political turmoil that Hyrule would go through would be extremely stressful. She'd probably pack up and leave somewhere else if her lifestyle was to be uprooted so drastically...
But such serious thoughts were pressed from her mind as Shad handed her the carved apple. Impressive, and she showed that on her face. Her grey eyes widened a bit, and she gently took the apple (or as gently as her battleworn hands would allow). It felt criminal to eat the rose-apple, but she was very hungry (when was she not?) and she bit a petal off.
An invitation to sit was welcomed, but after only a few moments passing of watching him do all the work... Ashenne started to feel awkward. His arm was broken or sprained, and she was sitting around like a bump on a log. The Dragon Knight spoke in between bites, "If you need help, just let me know what to do..." But maybe he would take offense if he thought she was calling him weak? "I mean, if you need it... or want it." @shad my apologies for the lateness, have a bad post T_T where has my skill gone MADE BY ★MEULK

What would happen to his life if things didn't get better? If Hyrule collapsed in on itself due to this event, would he have to leave and start over somewhere else? But what of his work? What of his friends? For all he knew, the worst came to pass and Ashei and Telma were...
No. No. He refused to think of that too long. They would be fine. There were few women as strong as they were, and if anyone could survive an attack by a dragon bent on destroying castletown, it'd be them. He wouldn't be all that surprised if they helped take the damn thing out.
"If it is no trouble, I will take you up on that. Can you work on peeling potatoes while I shop the vegetables? The smaller the pieces, the quicker they will cook, and it will plump the soup out some." Rice, vegetables, and a flavorful broth full of herbs didn't make the most exciting soup, that he knew, but what could he do? When you wanted to feed a lot of people with only a handful of supplies, you figured out ways to make things stretch. Plus, bread took too long to work on, and there was more than enough fruit for people to help themselves to.
He pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose, buying some time before starting on the onions. No matter how much he loved the taste, they still brought tears to his eyes. "My rudeness proceeds me. I should have introduced myself long ago. My name is Shad, miss." Ashennethe same place mine went to die orz;; (I call it the "let's get old together!" RP club c|) MADE BY MEULK
