How many years had passed since she last saw the Deku known as Dieter Wolfram? Her earliest memories of him were warm and bright, filled with a certain tenderness that he adoresd. He was but one of many, and while she loathed to play favorites, his destiny was a most interesting one. Many paths would cross his in the blink of his life, but where would he decide to go in the end?
Many things in Hyrule were changing. The destruction of Ordon and Kakariko were two of the most recent things, followed by the false dragon and assassination attempt on the princess. On the less grand scale, rumors of his promotion already ran wild.
Nerine’s deperature served as a prelude to the arrival of another fae. To Ordon she could go, deciding to help in rebuilding efforts. A rose had been left for Dieter to show her thanks. But more than a rose, he’d find a letter passed to him later that day, one that claimed he had a visitor waiting outside the palace.
All she has to do was wait. As for her... she looked like she hadn’t aged a day since he was little more than a sprout.
Their first meeting under the sun instead of the full moon. MADE BY MEULK

And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain The Captain of the Guard’s hand remained clasped together, his alabaster fingers interlocked with one another as he’d offered a final prayer for the recently departed; Hyrule had been wrought by yet another tragedy. His teeth dug into his bottom lips as he’d tried to prevent himself from crying out as he felt an abrupt wave of debilitating pain ravage his body; it originated from his left side. Dieter had fractured two of his floating ribs in the recent battle, they adamantly protesting against his efforts to rise to his feet. He’d gritted his teeth through the pain, a faint groan alerting his comrades to his discomfort. A duo of guardsman dared to inch closer to their Captain to offer aid, however they were chided away with a curt wave of his hand; weakness wasn’t a luxury he could afford currently.
Dieter’s strong façade had begun to crumble, the evidence of his fatigue and frailty gradually grew more apparently; yet his men refused to voice their concern. He’d noticed it himself in the passing whether it was his bloodshot eyes or how his heart felt as if it were made of lead. Contrary to his projected façade, his mind was wracked with hundreds of questions. What if he’d been stronger, how could it have gone better, why had he been so reckless, where was Nerine; the latter weighted particularly heavily on his heart and mind. Although, they’d only been acquittances for a short period of time, she’d proved her merit on more than one occasion. If she hadn’t disappeared, he’d intended to invite her into the ranks of the Palace Guard; her abilities as a healer were invaluable.
His weary eyes lingered on the singular red rose that sat in the corner of his quarters; it was all that she’d left behind. He’d made his way over to it, each step slow and deliberate in an effort to prevent jostling his fractured ribs. He’d reached out and tentatively stroked its’ velvety burgundy petals. Was this his fault? He could still recall the last time he’d seen her. It was as he’d deposited her petite fae-form into the palms of the Palace’s Shaman; they’d volunteered their services. They’d told him she’d recover with time, she’d merely overexerted herself mentally tending to both his and Fress’ injuries. He felt his lips curving upwards into a genuine smile, albeit it did little to hide the sadness in his eyes; she was the second person to simply disappear from his life. His hand reached into his simple robes to fish out the ivory sphere that King Zitos had gifted him.
He’d clutched it firmly before he slowly undid the silver clasp behind the base of his neck, depositing it beside the singular rose. A knock at his door caused him to pivot, one of the Deku couriers’ standing there with a singular letter, its’ contents sealed by a bright red burgundy seal; it was Lycroris’ symbol. How many years had passed since they’d last crossed paths? Did she still remember the last time that’d spent time together, they’d shared an innocent dance beneath the light of the moon? He’d slowly made his way to the Palace Entrance, his voice greeted Lycroris.
“It has been quite some time, my old friend… you haven’t aged a day.”
He said, his words punctuated by a pause a s he tried to catch his breath.

"Aye," came the soft, velvet-like reply. "But you have." Indeed he had, growing from the youth he once had been into a fine young man, with beautiful features that would make a number of women feel instantly jealous. What good natured cheer rose within her quickly grew faint, replaced by a quizzical draw of her brows and the faintest glimmer of a frown.
"You're hurt." It wasn't a question. "What happened?"
Much changed with the passage of time. People came and went, and the songs echoed all around them. The swamp underwent a great deal of changes as well, but it at least remained free from an attack. If whatever brought the destruction to Ordon, to Kakariko, and to the capitol enter the area, would it too fall before their very eyes? Death followed a tricky trail lead by a delicious scent.
No, the swamp would be fine. There was still time to prepare for what might happen. There was still time to become aware of what went on. Clutching the scattered fragments of knowledge close to her chest, she let out a soft breath and shook her head.

And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain How could that be though? If he’d recalled, it had been nearly five years since he’d last seen Lycoris. Yet, she’d remained unchanged, unblemished by time’s cruel design. The Faeries’ playful grin soon diminished, her chestnut brows knitted closer together, the faintest traces of displeasure evident upon her face. It hadn’t escaped her attention that Dieter was injured, albeit it wasn’t necessarily hard to discern that. The signs were all present, his slow deliberate movements, the way he clutched and cradled his left side; the bones hadn’t even properly set. He should of headed their Shaman’s advice to remain bed-ridden for a few more days, albeit his duties wouldn’t allow it; his obligations to the Deku Palace were paramount. Nonetheless, for a time Dieter remained silent, uncertain of how to answer Lycoris’ inquiry.
I was part of a group, one that defended both Kakariko and Ordon… but we were too-late…
With Ordon, they’d been fortunate enough to have two survivors, Link and Colin; albeit the latter was saved only by a sheer coincidence. If he hadn’t been trapped beneath the caved in roof, perhaps he wouldn’t have escaped Ziegress’ notice. With his demise, it was likely that any hope of Ordon’s recovery would die alongside him. It pained him to see the hollowed, emptiness in Colin’s emerald eyes; the man had lost almost everything. Before he could dwell on the fact further, Lycoris inquired if there was a spot for them to sit; she’d likely sensed that he was troubled by her question. He nodded his head in response before he’d gestured for him to follow him.
“ There is a small grove ahead, it has some overgrown fungi… they make nice chairs …
He said softly as he’d trudged through the swamp. He’d fortunately made it there without any incident, taking a seat upon one of the gargantum mushroom. One would of expected its’ stalk to snap like a twig, yet it didn’t even bow despite Dieter’s full weight bearing down upon it.
“What is it you’d like to discuss… Where have you been? Why did you disappear?
Dieter also took this time to ask the other questions that had weighted heavily on his mind. Why had she chosen now, of all times to return from her period of absence? Where had she gone? Why did she just abandon him?

The grove with the overgrown fungi suited her needs perfectly for the time being. Once Dieter sat himself down and the mushroom didn't balk because of his weight, Lycoris set to work. She knelt down beside him, her eyes focused intently on his form. A warm light formed around her hands, the softest green a person could recognize that wasn't white, and spread to his clothing when she moved her palm over different areas. The healing magic oozed through his skin, leaving the faintest traces of a tickling sensation while it worked. And work it did, kneading muscles free of pain and burrowing through all the way to bones, mending what had been damaged only seconds ago.
She spoke as she worked, though her eyes never left his chest region. "It is what I do. I come and I go, and when I am no longer needed, I disappear. You didn't need me anymore. Now that you do, I've returned. Or, should I saw, now that I need you?"
What a peculiar thing to say. What made it so that he no longer needed her? It wasn't as if a person stopped needing their friend suddenly. And yet, there wasn't a hint of regret or a trace of uncertainty in her words; it was a mere statement, a matter of fact, and how things were in her reality.
"Hyrule is in a state of distress. Word from the capitol is slow at the moment, but you may have already heard. Princess Zelda's life nearly ended a few days past. It was, I believe, on the very day you received your promotion. Congratulations on that, by the by. You'll make an amazing captain." At this her eyes saddened, a pained wince accenting her words.
"But... as much as you are needed here, you will be needed elsewhere just as much. Things may have gone differently were you there in the capitol, or there with the princess. Your strength is nothing to discredit, Dieter Wolfram of the Deku, and for that, I request your aid in the coming days." MADE BY MEULK

And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain
His coral-hued lips remained firmly pressed against one another, transitorily silenced by his own doubt and uncertainty. He’d watched Lycoris in silence as she’d knelt alongside him, extending her dainty hands towards his fractured floating ribs. Dieter’s chest rumbled lowly as he’d chuckled to himself, his breathe catching in his chest as a searing pain shot up his side. His teeth ground against one another as he fought his natural inclination to gasp. What had the Captain of the Guard found so humorous? Truthfully, he was amused by the irony of the situation, how it seemed that History was destined to repeat itself, wasn’t it? The Captain of the Guard hadn’t changed much in the passing years, his reckless, rambunctious nature slightly tempered by his newfound responsibilities. His head was still filled with fanciful dreams of exploring the world beyond the Swamp; it was one dream that had never been laid to rest.
How many times had Lycois patched him up in the past after his grueling daily regimen. Oddly enough, if he’d recalled properly, she’d never once asked for a single world of gratitude. No, the one thing he’d remembered was the way she’d smiled, it was as if she knew exactly how the world would end; it seemed so out of place given her innocent appearance. His cerulean eyes grew half-lidded as the familiar warmth overwhelmed his senses, a distinct tingling sensation lingering at his fingertips. His breathes began to grow less labored as his taunt muscles were forced to relax. The sensation lasted for perhaps thirty seconds before it traveled deeper, closer to the source of his pain. He felt the bones in his ribcage shift less than a few millimeters, it felt similar when he’d coughed. He knew if he’d used Dyrad’s Domain, he would of seen the fractured floating ribs shift back into their original position, the bone quickly mending itself.
Not that he had any desire to do so, he’d regretted the last time he’d used his ability to reset his own shoulder. While it was true, it was useful to know exactly where he had to press to repocket the joint, it was also quite unnerving; grotesque in his personal opinion. Lycoris’ words confounded him deeply, what could she possible mean when she’d claimed that she’d left because he’d no longer needed her? When she’d left, she’d left him without a friend; he’d yet to find his niche within both the Dancers’ and the Knights. Still, he remained silent and nodded his head solemnly as the conversation shifted towards the current state of Hyrule. It was certainly true, the rumors of Prince Zelda’s had reached the Deku, albeit the severity of which varied from report to report. Why was this so concerning? The Princess’ life had nearly come to an abrupt end, it was the second time in such a short period of a time; not even a full season had passed.
If the faery happened to glance up from her ministrations, she’d notice that his lips had curved downwards into a discontent scowl. Her words reinforced his thought process, reminding him of his involvement in the fiasco. It begged the questions, was this particularly his fault? Would the crowned Princess be in such dire straits if he hadn’t returned to the Swamp? It also made him wonder, had he done the right thing by retreating to tend to Nerine? This was the downfall of hindsight, it was 20-20, he had no way of knowing the future. Instead, he was forced to make a split decision then and there to see to the safety of a dear friend. Did he regret such a decision, no, if he was being honest with himself; he never would either. This would be the first of many tough choices he’d have to make in the near future.
It was an important lesson, it showed how one saving one life could doom countless others; a thought that weighted heavily on his mind now. For a moment, silence would linger between the two before he’d spoke.
“I know… I made a decision to save a friend and I potentially damned many… However, of course I will help a dear friend…
Dieter paused for a moment, his tone suggesting that his help did not come without a cost. Fortunately, the price he wished to be paid was merely her opinion.
“Now, in return I ask one thing. I wish for your insight on my plans, I wish to mobilize a handful of my guards, some of our craftsmen, medicine men, traders to head to Ordon to begin repairs.”
He took a slow deep breathe, pleasantly surprised that he no longer felt a flare of fresh pain. Dieter now gazed deeply into Lycoris’ eyes, certain that he could discern if she was lying to him by doing so. He couldn’t bring himself to utilize his spell craft, he knew that if he did so he’d be able to detect irregularities in her heartbeat; he didn’t distrust her enough to do so.
“I feel like people need something to unite them, to bring inspire hope.. what do you think?”

"If my insight is what you seek, do not send your men to Ordon. The village, while in a rough state, needs the least aid at the moment. Send them to the town around the castle or send them to Kakariko. In time, attention will be able to be focused on Ordon. That time is not now, nor will it be until after those who still draw breath have been seen to." With his gaze, Dieter would have no trouble seeing the immense grief in the eyes of the faerie, even though no tears formed as a physical sign. She lowered her hands to her lap, locking her fingers together as she did, and refused to break the current established connection.
"Castletown should be the first priority. Send your men there to help the wounded, feed the starving, rebuild the broken structures. There is too much work and not enough living bodies to do it all in an orderly fashion. The knights of the Hylian people have all but fallen; only a few of them continue to draw breath after what happened that day. They were ill-prepared to deal with have happened, and as much as it pains me to say this, that is the fate that befalls those who have forgotten their ways. In complacence comes sloth. They will grow stronger from this and remember the old, following in the footsteps of heroic tales from before they were born."
A pause, her breath shaky. "But that is not what I need from you. Not entirely. There are forces moving that I am unable to predict. Travel to the mountain, Dieter Wolfram of the Deku. You will find a slumbering dragon who will be of immense aid in the days ahead. Should this dragon join forces with you, you will find yourself with an ally who will not fail. This is the first step you must take in preparation for the challenges that are coming."
After that? One thing at a time. Too much made this... messy. MADE BY MEULK

Lycoris’ insight served as a reminder, she’d reinforced that it wasn’t necessarily always about what was best for just his men; Colin’s state of mental wellbeing had the driving force behind his suggestion. The Faeries’ words prompted him to mentally take a step back, to momentarily abandon his emotional investment, and lastly to reevaluate the situation in its’ entirety. Lycoris’ point was valid, Ordon had been and likely still was devoid of life, Link and Colins were the sole survivors of the tragedy. However, it couldn’t be refuted that there was still the off chance that there were others wandering Hyrule, they were simply two that had been identified. Perhaps, he’d already done enough for both of them and was now merely beginning to dote; an unbecoming habit in a leader He was momentarily pulled from his thoughts, his facial expression softening as he’d studied Lycoris’ face.
Her eyes, they were beautiful, untainted pools of uninhibited sadness. He’d daringly reached out and let his own hands encircle Lycoris’, not bothering to say a word as he’d soothingly ran his thumb along her fingers. He’d offered a simple smile in return, refusing to interrupt her as she’d continued to revise and revamp his initial plan. In a few seconds, she’d painted a vivid picture in his mind. He could only imagine the vast sea of injured bodies; how many were left with nothing but the clothes on their back. He’d momentarily recalled the damage that Viegress and its’ counterpart had wrought by themselves. He’d nodded his head solemnly as she’d cited that the Hylian Knights had grown complacent, their arrogance contributing to their downfall. But, that was the glory of being at rock bottom wasn’t it? You were left with only two options, you could wallow there or you could begin your climb back to the metaphorical top.
It didn’t escape his attention that she’d paused, her breathe shaky and uncertain. She’d voiced that she’d desired him to travel to the Mountains. If he’d recalled correctly, Volga had mentioned that he’d lived in those ranges. Perhaps, the armored knight provide him with assistance or at the bare minimum companionship; perhaps even mentorship. These thoughts weren’t voice aloud.
“ I understand… I will draft the letters to King Zitos and Princess Zelda and I will mobilize my people… Do you think I can afford five days to help Castle Town begin its’ repairs before I go to the Mountains?”
He inquired, he believed that five days would be enough to at least start the reparations and enough time for his men to become autonomous. He wasn’t going to cease aid after those five days, no he just wouldn’t be directly over seeing it anymore.

Hyrule's blessing could not be ignored. In it, many souls were gathered and bestowed gifts from the gods themselves. Were they fated to utilize that and walk a preordained trail set before them? No, because destiny wasn't as cut and dry as people seemed to feel. Some things were meant to be, she truly believed that, but without the right person trying to bring about change and see to it that the proper steps were taken, fate wouldn't stand much of a chance. Free will. She loved it as much as she loathed it, for it brought chaos along with peace. Or was that what made it so interesting? For all the good there was bad, and for all the dark there was light.
(Wasn't it her own free will that allowed her to doubt it some of the time?)
"Five days. Take those and do what you need." She rose, her hand moving to ghost soft fingertips against his cheek. It was then that she bowed, eyes closed and features soft, to press a chaste kiss against the crown of his brow. "Be strong, new leaf. You will walk the path of greatness. You have strengths you've yet to discover, and while my presence may not always be felt, know this; I will always be nearby to aid you whenever I can. This is the vow that I give you, and my word is the one bond I will never dare to break."
Would she ever tell him who she really was? She didn't hide her fae nature from him, but more than that became a difficult subject to cross. In the past it had earned different looks directed at her, and worse, respect where once no respect had been given. The Hylian monarchs often went through the same thing, and would the Deku heir to be that way, she assumed it would be another repeat.
Lycoris held up five fingers, then slowly bent them at the knuckles one by one. "We shall meet again after you meet the dragon. I will find you when it is time." MADE BY MEULK

And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain
He felt the Faeries’ hands slip from beneath his own, her fingertips ghosting along his cheek as she’d leant forward. He’d said nothing as he’d observed her angelic features, captivated by her beauty as he pressed a koi kiss against the top of his forehead. She spoke of a path he’d walk, it was one foreseen to lead to greatness; he doubted such a road was without its’ own challenges. But that was to be expected. The Captain of the Guard couldn’t deny that he hadn’t grown stronger because of the hardships that he’d faced in the name of Hyrule; each one pushed him further and further beyond his preconceived limit. “You came back once, Lycoris… you’ve kept the promise you made to me as a child…. I have no doubt you’ll keep your word again.” What promise was he talking about? He still recalled that before she’d left for what felt like an eternity, she’d promised that they meet again. He’d remained quite as she slowly bent in each finger, foreshadowing that their paths would cross again in the near future. He nodded his head as he rose and began to make his way to the entrance of the clearing that he’d lead them to. He craned his head back to look at Lycoris once last time. “One day, I want to know where you went for all this time…” He said before he’d left her alone in the clear, hastily returning to the Palace to draft some letters to both King Zitos and Princess Zelda to inform them of his intent to aid Castle Town and sometime down the road Kakariko Village.
