Why did this realm need a blazing ball of light constantly hovering above these lands? More times than he’s willing to count did Morpheus need to watch where he was traveling. Every now and then forgetting he was not back home where he could just jump willy-nilly out of the shadows. One false move then it was blistering hot pain from light rejecting his form.
It made traversing this realm difficult. The night time was far more preferable. While monsters of various kinds liked to roam the roads when everything was fast asleep, he didn’t have to worry about burning to a crisp as bad as daylight.
Though he’d be a liar if he said being in this world did make him ever the slightest homesick. What he wouldn’t give to meet another of his kind. At least to share some of his experience and japes he pulled on those foolish light-dwellers who had the misfortune of encountering him. It would help if he truly understood why the Twili had decided to step into this vast and strange world. What was forcing the sovereign’s hand to coming these lands that forsaken their ancestors?
It looks like he may get his questions answered sooner than he expected. Ghostly eyes looked ahead spotting a flit in the shadows. Another twili? Morpheus couldn't let them get out of his sights. He moved as quickly as he could to catch up with them. However the closer he got he had to do a double take. Could it be? It was an imp sporting the colors of his kind. He recognized the colors. The pattern.
"... Princess Midna? Is that you?" he blurted out audibly.

The nighttime had its ups and downs. The good part about this realm's night cycle was that she could travel safely and freely, as long as she did not run into any of the monsters that roamed. That was taking a bit of getting used to. The Twilight Realm was rather peaceful and there really weren't any monstrosities about unless one were to travel deeped into the wastes. But Midna could handle herself (really, she could!). The only downside was that it could get rather lonely. Her guide, Alex, usually slept through the night (as did most Light Realmers) and so she was left to her own devices.
Currently, she was stalking a small rabbit to get a bit of food for the evening. However, the sound of her name being called spooked it and it took off into a grove of trees. Midna almost scowled at whoever it was that had scared her dinner, but she soon realized that there were only a few people in this realm that even knew her name... Her heart fluttered, just knowing it was another one of her Twili.
A quick scan of the area and her gaze soon landed on Morpheus. Yes! It was another Twili! Her impish form floated over to him as a smile crept to her face. "Ah! Another Twili! How relieved I am to see you." Knowing that another one of the Twili was safe made her feel a bit more at ease. But the fact that her remaining civilians were trickling in made her uneasy once more. "But why would you come here? It is much too dangerous. You should go back home... to where it is safe."

Morpheus grimaced realizing all but too late he interrupted Midna in the middle of a hunt. He saw the look. The grin on his face softened as guilt glinted in his ghostly hues for eyes. He gave a small bow then straightened up. Nothing over the top but respect was given where it was due. "Many apologies. Allow me to help you hunt." He instantly offered. It was the least he could do for tactlessly causing her to lose her meal.
"It is a relief to see you are well, princess. I am aware you do not know me by name and it is quite alright. My name is Morpheus. A humble little scout at your service" He never did want to make a name for himself before. And those who did know him––well they usually roll their eyes and groan at the mere mention of him.
But in front of royalty? He wasn’t going to act stupid. Especially not in a world unlike their beautiful and lovely home. "You may find my reasons rather foolish, but I wanted to come here." There was no point in really hiding it. For the first time, he actually felt like he was truly alive. "I love our home. I truly do but I won't deny the draw of this world spoke to me. Even with the risks it has. This place has done some good for me in shaping up. Maybe I can use this extra energy to do something while I'm here?" His eyes looked around to the fields. The night scenery wasn't terrible to say the least but it was a pale visage in comparison to the beauty back home. His chipper face returned back to gaze at the imp.
"If I may stay, then please, let me be of use to you, princess." He didn't want to leave, but even he wasn't foolish enough to defy the orders of his Sovereign, if she commanded him to go back home.

The kid had some braves in him, that much she could tell. To willingly go to a strange and foreign place, knowing full well that the danger had transferred itself here. And yet he still wanted to come. Midna was proud to have met this Twili, and bowed her head at him. "If it is what you wish. Just do one thing for me."
Midna's look grew a bit somber. "Do not get yourself hurt. You know what came here, to Hyrule, to the Realm of Light. If you see it... Please come find me again." She wanted to get revenge on it with her own hands. She wouldn't let one of her own get hurt from something like that... Not any more.
The imp leaned back as if resting against an invisible chair, her hands coming together behind her head as she suddenly took on a more chipper smile, bearing those pearly fangs of hers. "So! What have you learned while you've been here? The creatures here are so... interesting." Whether that was a good or bad thing would be up to interpretation. There was definitely a twinge of sarcasm in her words.

She was actually letting him stay? Morpheus was stunned for a second or two. The one and only Twilight Princess allowing him to stay? The grin on his face faltered which quickly curved into a genuine smile. He knew from many tales Midna wasn’t an ordinary member of royalty, but to acknowledge someone as lowly as him? It spoke volumes about her character to him personally. "I don't like making promises. I don't take them lightly," he said with a wink, "But I understand the situation we're in. For you, princess. I promise."
Seeing the look on her face made him realize the steep steps he was taking. It made his heart race enjoying the weight of the reality. Whether it was anxiety or excitement that was left to be determined. One thing was certain. He could see Midna was looking out for her people above all else.
"These light realm folks are hilarious." He chuckled returning back to his trademark grin. "The first group I stumbled across thought I was a monster and tried attacking me. They kept screaming 'Poe! Poe!'... whatever the hell that is. The look on their faces when I shared my shadow beast form to them was priceless." The many memories he made already of scaring the piss out of the inhabitants was growing. However there was no denying the mutual sardonic undertones he shared with Midna. How long ago was it that these same people thought of us truly as monsters?
"I learned not all of this realm knows about the strange thing that came here. They're blissfully unaware of the dangers they're in. I wonder how long that will last."
