Alex was able to slip into a dream filled sleep rather effortlessly. He'd been out for a few minutes but he'd already had vivid images filling his head. A mysterious dance with a mysterious lady. Simple memories of a unique night that he hoped to someday enjoy again. For all that had happened with the Masquerade, there had been some truly wonderful moments. The other contestants were filled with people that he knew. He'd never been able to figure out who was who. He'd gotten one that he was certain of, but the rest had managed to elude him. Still, he enjoyed it, so it was a pleasant sleep.
Until something was shaking him awake. With a grunt, he finally started to stir as Midna absolutely panicked. Another monster? What? Had Nimue survived and followed them here? He really should have seen this coming. Instinctively, his hand shot to his chest to grab his hunting knife but it gripped nothing. Right, he'd used that as a pillow. Ripping his Warden sword from its sheath he threw himself up with the blade already glowing a soft blue. Well she'd clearly gotten him in the swing of things. He seemed a little groggy but adrenaline was pumping through his veins, it wouldn't be too much longer and he would be wide awake once again and he would be ready to do battle!
At least for a moment. He blinked, looked around, and looked at Midna. "What?" He asked. She said it was another monster headed to the earth. He looked up at the sky and saw... nothing. He blinked a few times again before turning his attention back to Midna. Was this some kind of practical joke? "I don't see it." He remarked, planting the tip of the sword into the ground before using it to push himself to his feet, just in case. Good! Alex had quick reflexes! At least if they were in danger, he could quickly get up and fight! Midna looked around rather frantically, and even floated high into the air to scan the horizon. There was no smoke, no rising dust, nothing indicative of something crashing to earth.
Confused, she floated down next to him with a look of great focus. "It was bright... and only appeared for a second or two, but it looked like it was heading straight for Hyrule!"
To be honest, it hadn't looked like a monster or anything but she had never seen anything streak across the sky in such a way. She was truly puzzled.

As the adrenaline began to wake him up, it also began to wear off when Midna explained what exactly it was that she saw. Did the Twilight Realm just not have stars? Maybe clouds blocked the whole thing off. Man, she didn't know what stars were, that was just depressing. Who wanted to go a single night without being able to look up at the stars and see all the beauties that lay up in the sky. Who knew what mysteries were up there? There were many legends of how they came to be, some happy, some tragic, some beautiful, some... well some found the stars to be less romantic and tried to just explain them away.
Alex blinked a couple times as he finally put away his weapon and seemed to relax. "That was a shooting star." He explained. It was nothing serious, and in fact, usually counted as some kind of a good omen. It was when there was a red comet in the sky that it was generally time for shit to hit the fan. "Make a wish. Supposedly it'll come true." He smiled as he reached over to pat her head. Yeah, she was probably going to get a bit huffy about that, but in all honesty, she could use something other than being depressed recently.
Part of him did wonder what in the world she would wish for. He just figured it would be the obvious thing and that all this shit would go away and that everything that happened would be undone. Alas that wishes didn't really work like that, not unless you had divine power backing it all. The fact that it wasn't a monster put her a bit more at ease, but the slightly confused look never truly faded. Shooting star? "So those things... move?" she questioned, motioning to the sky. "I can see them sparkling and twinkling, but I didn't know they could move." There was still so much she didn't know about the Light Realm.
Midna scrunched her nose up when he suggested she make a wish. What little she knew about the Hylians (and humans) culture had turned out very weird so far. Making a wish on a "shooting star" seemed odd to her. But she thought for a moment, which showed on her face. "Mm... Okay, if you say so."
Had she gone the obvious route and wished for this all to have been a dream? Had she wished for forgiveness? The truth of the matter was that no matter what she wished for, she had to be able to make it come true. Wishes weren't good for anything. It was going to be her actions that counted in the future. She'd humored Alex about this wish thing, but she wouldn't let him know. His ruffling of her hair made her let out a breathy hiss before quickly grabbing it to tame it down. There was so much missing... Morrigan had singed it with her sword.
Hopefully it wouldn't look too weired when she would finally give up her imp form...

So it really did seem to be nothing then. It was just a shooting star. He let out a sigh of relief at the fact he wouldn't have to fight anything, not for now anyway. They could deal with whatever came their way after all of this. Come what may after all. Still, no stars? No idea of what a shooting star was? That was just not right. "Now I'm wondering just what everything is like in the Twilight Realm." He said with a shake of his head. Sleepiness was taking back control. He wouldn't be awake much longer. Everything was catching up to him once again, and he wanted to rest.
Laying back down on his makeshift pillow, he closed his eyes again, trying to fall back asleep. Wait, right, he should probably warn her about shooting stars before he did anything. "Don't say what you wished for until it comes true." Not to him, not to anyone else, or it wouldn't come true. He wouldn't deny that there was a nagging curiosity, but he figured he could figure out what it was that she wished for before she went back home. That actually made him wonder though, would he even see her again once this was all over? Wait, right, one other warning. "Stay out of the water too." That goddamned giant purple fish monster would love to make a snack out of her he was sure.
Unless Midna deigned to keep him awake, he would probably be asleep again with a few minutes, leaving her to watch the stars.
