Well, she seemed pretty ashamed for Fress. Really, that was unnecessary. It was Fress who should feel the shame of a thousand thousand eons. Alex watched her as she tried to effectively disavow Fress in some way, before shrugging, and offering his own comfort. Apparently the Twili needed to redeem themselves to Alex. Well, kind of, honestly. It wasn't that they were evil so much as that Fress had made them seem as something like a joke. So the grin lessened into a smile, as he offered his own thoughts on the matter. "For what it's worth, you do a pretty good job of that." And really, she did.
He lifted up one finger. "He begged for his life, you tried to strangle me." Really, he shouldn't have, but he did find quite a bit of entertainment in that. Maybe if it hadn't gone so horribly wrong, he might have a different view, but that had set the bar pretty low between the two of them, and look where they were now. He raised a second finger. "He has no dignity. You have plenty." There was just no point in elaborating there, now was there? Up came a third. "I actually enjoy your company. I was going to slam him into a tree if you didn't intervene." Which, he was. Fress had been ruining his night, and Alex was going to teach him what for. "The only thing I can really say in his favor is that he was the first to come after you."
Still, strong and beautiful. Well, Fress certainly wasn't that. But that did raise up another thing that the Twili had shown. "So he turned from a two-tailed fox into what I am guessing is his Twili form." It had been a sudden shift, but it was a strange one. "So why do you prefer to be... what I'm guessing is an imp?" He'd assumed, but maybe it was something else? "To be honest, from a distance it'd be easy to confuse you for a Miniblin. A lot of people take a kill on sight policy for those. It's actually fairly dangerous in your case." Of course, he'd learned that Midna was probably no threat, but still, others wouldn't know. Midna turned away from him as he spouted off his opinions. She couldn't really look him in the eye at the moment, the way he was comparing herself and Fress. It was nice to know that she was at least a good example of a Twili, but he had only had two examples. It was flattering, yes, but she wished there could be more... She hoped there'd be more Twili coming after her.
And since they were on the subject of Twili, he had started to ask questions about them, which was to be expected. She had been rather secretive about herself since they met, and after meeting another member of her race, it was only natural that his interest would be piqued again. Midna let out a sigh though. There was something about remaining mysterious that she liked. But oh well.
"The fox-like creature was the equivalent to... this form," she admitted. She wondered if she could get away with having him believe that her current form was her true form. If he knew that her imp wasn't what she really looked like... then he'd probably bug her to transform like Fress had.
"When I first came to the Light Realm, the sunlight burnt my skin. It was a horrific pain..." she rubbed her arms in remembrance of that incident, "Being like this helps me conserve my energy." It was a rather simple explanation. "And as you have witnessed, I can protect myself," she noted rather proudly.

She could protect herself as he witnessed? He followed that up by giving her a set of airquotes. That wasn't really a valiant response back then. "I mean, I wouldn't call what happened between us 'protecting yourself.'" He gave her a cocky grin on that. She was going to be strangling him in a bit, wasn't she? "You tried to throttle me and since then you've been bumming out in my shadow and eating my food." But it was clear from his tone that he really meant nothing bad by it, and was just giving her a good ribbing. He didn't mind helping the Twilight Princess and her company really was enjoyable. It was good to have someone that could sass back, even if it totally wasn't as well as he could.
But at least he knew what was up with the imp form. Fress had described his princess as being pale white. The imp... was most definitely not that. It was probably safe to assume that Midna the imp was not the true form of Midna the Twilight Princess. So now, he was curious as to what she actually looked like. "Well I guess you have your reasons for staying in that form then." He remarked as he shook his head. She would show him when she was comfortable doing so, he guessed. This was one case where he knew pressing the issue wouldn't get him any closer to seeing what was behind the imp. Still, his curiosity blazed.
And then shifted towards something else. "The Light Realm?" Now she had lost him again. He figured the Twilight Realm was just a name, basically. Like another country, like how one could call Hyrule, "the Realm of Hyrule." Good of the realm. The needs of the realm, shit like that. What was all this about a Light Realm? Man, she had so much explaining to do. Alex looked at her, obviously expecting an answer. "If I wanted to kill you," she said with a mischeivous grin, "I could have. But you didn't pose a threat to me in that moment." Nevermind the fact that she was also seriously exhausted. If she had her full strength at the time, he wouldn't have stood a chance against her~
The imp sighed slightly. Had the humans not kept up the stories about the Twilight Realm? The Twili made damn sure to be reminded in their studies about the Light Realm and all that history. There was no way Midna could ever forget. But perhaps the stories had been lost to time here. Either way, Alex was about to get a rather biased tale about the two realms.
"The Light Realm... is where we are now. I guess you humans call it Hyrule." Midna combed her fingers through her hair, releasing some of the tangles. "My people come from the Twilight Realm. Our ancestors were banished from the Light Realm ages ago."

So Hyrule was the Light Realm to Midna's Twilight Realm. Her and her own had been banished ages ago, and that was why no one remembered it? Time made fools of everyone, but it seemed that it might have been an important thing to keep track of. It would sound like a scary place, and the words of the Midna would sound frightening indeed... if it weren't coming from an imp who needed a helmet to reach past his knees anyway. "So the Twilight Realm is where the Terror of Death comes from." He remarked as he reached over to pinch one of her cheeks. "Truly, we were lucky to survive." It didn't help that she was just so fuzzy. She didn't look it but a lot of that was fur.
Leaning back and raising his hands up, he grinned again as another question came to him. She still had a lot of explaining to do, but he was overall pretty satisfied, or he would be soon anyway. "So if I meet these other Twili of yours, are they going to think I kidnapped you or something?" He'd almost come to blows with Fress and that fox was a clown! Someone who really meant business and thought that he was hoarding Midna against her will or something would probably turn ugly real quick. There were times where they separated, so the idea of having to deal with one without Midna to stop it was not a pleasant one. A smirk twitched on Midna's lips. Terror of Death... That seemed an adequate name for the monstrosity. She had no idea what it was actually called... if it even had a name... what it truly was... One thing she did know was that it did come from the Twilight Realm, but she had her own input to add to that. "The Twilight Realm is... was... very peaceful. Yes, it did come from there but... how? I am not sure... I've never seen anything like it before." He reached out to pinch her cheeks to which she grimaced and smacked his hands away. She wasn't a child, even if her current stature might have lead to that conclusion!
Rubbing her cheek to soothe the mild burning sensation, Midna grumbled. "No, they know better than to think that." She folded her arms behind her head. "Like I've said before, I can handle myself, Despite what you might think. My people know that."
Though she really did hope no one would try to be her "hero" or anything. That'd really put a damper between her and the Hylians,
now wouldn't it...

Alex didn't push any farther when his hand was smacked away, he had gotten what he had wanted out of her after all. It was fun to rile her up. That little face of hers could just get so expressive it was hard not to find it somewhat hilarious. Although it was slightly reassuring to hear that the other Twili wouldn't be trying to kill him or treating her as some damsel in distress. Probably. He had a feeling she hadn't expected Fress to enter into the equation. Yes, that little guy could probably be quite the wild card if he really wanted to. Of course, that depended on whether he could even see it. "I shall relax then, unless Fress the Mighty should come to challenge me again." Yeah, there was no way he was ever going to let her live this down. It was just too much fun.
"A marked difference from here, though." He admitted. Zelda was going to be having it rough for a while. "It is expected that the princess be a dainty little flower who must be coddled and fussed over." It would also be expected that she produce an heir soon. Really, that was what all the fuss about this whole fuss was about with Ordon. If Zelda died, it was the end of one of their last connections to the gods. Once there was someone with her blood in back up, well, she could go gallivanting about as she pleased, be with who she pleased or whatever.
Of course, if there was such a marked difference then, well. Reaching for a stick he poked the fire. "When we meet her, try not to give her too much grief over Ordon. I don't like it either, but the nobles love to play their games. It seems the Twilight Realm is fortunate not to have to deal with that." Whenever they played their games, it was always people like him, regular people, who wound up suffering for it all. "Try to get some sleep. Tomorrow's going to be a busy day." He'd stay up for a while, but he was used to late nights. Midna seemed to ignore the Fress quip all together. What she didn't ignore was the fact about Hyrule's Royalty. That would be a rather unappealing lifestyle. There was a time where her mentors wanted her to be a straight-laced lady but her stubbornness prevailed and at long last they stopped pestering her about her leadership style. There was no changing who she was... She wouldn't let anyone do that, and she'd let them hear it if they tried. It was a shame Zelda couldn't speak up like that for herself. Hyrule seemed a very judgmental place.
Nobility playing games wasn't new to Midna. Perhaps in that regard, the Twilight Realm and Hyrule weren't all that different? Midna smirked a little and looked up to Alex. "I'll try to tone it down." After a small stretch of her tiny limbs, Midna went from sitting on top of a log to sitting on the ground and leaning against it. She was pretty tired... All this running around and traveling, even if it didn't make her physically tired... was still a bit tiring. She wouldn't say no to a nice rest~ This time, however, she didn't hide in the shadows. The fire was much too warm and Alex had worked too hard on it to let the embers go to waste. And so she did her best to get as comfy as she could against that log as her carmine eyes slowly shut.
