初めまして。
A sigh of elation slipped from between Dieter’s coral-hued lips as he laid his spear down, placing it diagonally across his cot within the Palace Guard’s Quarters. Now that he’d freed up both of his hands, Dieter began to systematically remove his armor; placing the discarded armaments within a cedar chest at the foot of his bed. He’d begun to close the lid to the chest, pausing just centimeters from the lid snapping shut. What had happened to the outfit that he’d laid out? He was certain that he’d placed it on top of the cedar chest to ensure that he didn’t waste any of his hard-earned time off. He quickly scanned the rest of his room, taking note of a small box placed on his window ceil. What could it be? Dieter questioned as he moved closer to inspect it. The box was sealed shut by a satin ribbon and had a neatly folded note on top of it. He recognized the handwriting immediately, it was one of the Court Dancers, Lucina. He tugged firmly on the left side of the ribbon, watching it unfurl and pool at his feet. He absentmindedly skimmed over the note, fighting back a bout of laughter; she’d swapped out his outfit and told him to enjoy his momentary freedom.
He didn’t hesitate to slide on the alabaster, floor length robes. It took a couple extra seconds to adjust the sleeves and tie up the length of burgundy ribbon so that it didn’t drag on the floor, put in the amber, cascading teardrop earrings, and lastly holster his twin daggers so that rested on his hips. The last thing he grabbed was the small leather satchel, that he’d likely fill with goods from Hyrule Castle Town and from Lake Hyrule. He quickly exited his room, locking it with a small bronze key that dangled from his neck. Few aside from the Deku would ever dare try to navigate the Swamp’s depths before the sun had crested in the sky, yet he did so with ease before it’d even begun to rise on the horizon. It took a decent amount of time for him to actually reach the towering gates of the city. In is personal opinion, the time and effort that had went into this was well worth it. He’d worked multiple back to back shifts, frequently trading duties with the other Guardsmen to earn the next three days off.
His playful grin never once waivered, in fact it only seemed to grow more mirthful with each passing second. The market place had just begun to bustle, countless merchants trying to peddle their wares. This felt so foreign, it was undeniably different from the tranquility of the Swamps. Dieter effortlessly weaved in and out of the crowds, pivoting gracefully on the balls of his feet to ensure that he didn’t accidentally crash into someone. He briefly paused in front of one stall in particular, the merchant was peddling what appeared to a plethora of tomes and books. Dieter eyed each one carefully, tentatively running his fingers over the well-worn leather binding. He picked up three books, two of which were filled with the lore and fairytales of Hyrule, and the last was shockingly a love story. He didn’t attempt to barter too much, partying with a handful of rupees easily. He quickly pivoted on the balls of his feet, simultaneously trying to pack the three books into the bottom of his satchel.
In his haste, he failed to noticed the towering behemoth just a few inches ahead of him, colliding with what was roughly the unknown man’s hip region. Dieter stumbled backward in surprise, his books falling to the ground with an audible thud.
“My apologies, I wasn’t watching where I was going.”

[attr="class","smdbody"]"Ah?" The large Zora's gaze would immediately situate itself upon the unbalanced form of the Deku. The youth's solid figure had impacted his own, surprising the royal somewhat as he averted his attention from his pair of visibly displeased guards. Instead of experiencing the buddings of irritation the king revealed a hint of curiosity as he allowed himself a moment to eye the stranger. The material which adorned the human - or, at least, what he presumed to be human - flowed in an elegant fashion. It appeared notably light, allowing for air to distribute itself evenly within its confines. "..." Zitos spared a glance at his entourage, their grips upon their spears growing firm as they visually assessed the newcomer. "I will handle this," he said, gesturing for them to maintain a suitable distance. They obeyed in a timely fashion, dipping their heads in acknowledgement. "You've little need to apologize," he responded, having shifted his attention from his guards whilst grinning toothily. "Allow me." The books were quite small, and were obviously not meant to entertain one of his size. But he managed to gather them within his webbed paws without damaging or clumsily handling the pieces of literature. They were offered up once they were settled upon his palm, with the king presently crouching to surrender them to the Deku. "Here you are, little pearl." The term of endearment was one casually given - for the youth was quite fair. 初めまして。 Dieter’s neck progressively craned backwards allowing his eyes to traverse Zitos’ gargantuan physique until their gazes met. Truthfully, Dieter was taken back by the fact that Zitos’ face bore not semblance of annoyance or distain, but instead of an innate curiosity; a mutual bond between the two strangers. His attention was abrupt pulled from Zitos’ entrancing, iridescent topaz-hued eyes by his two guardsmen tightening their grip upon their weapons. His fingers twitched unnaturally, a telltale that he’d fought against his natural instincts to reach for the blades hidden beneath his billowing robes. Zitos’ tactfully disarmed the situation before it could escalate, assuring his entourage that he was perfectly capable of handling the situation on his own. They responded with a simple bow of their head, their actions prompting Dieter to believe this man was either Zora Royalty or merely someone of influence. Before the Deku Guardsman dwell on that possibility any further, Zito began to chastise him; reassuring him that his apology wasn’t necessary.
Dieter politely returned Zitos’ toothy grin with a koi one of his own, his alabaster cheeks reddening ever so. Needless to say, Dieter was quite surprised by care the goliath before him took as he gathered up the trio of books at Dieter’s feet. Before he could voice any further objection, King Zitos had already knelt down and centered the books in his outstretch palm. Dieter’s fluster intensified greatly as Zitos addressed him endearingly as simply “little pearl.” He’d subconsciously brought his right arm across his chest as he’d adverted his gaze from Zitos, clearly trying to conceal his embarrassment; not very successfully any observer would proclaim. His left hand crept forward uncertainly, the tips of his fingers tentatively feeling for the leather-bound exterior of his purchased books. This was a surprisingly arduous task when he was reliant on only his peripheral vision. Dieter was taken back momentarily by the sensation of Zitos’ skin beneath his own. He’d expected I to be rough, cold and clammy, not for it to radiate an inviting warmth or its’ satiny softness. Once his fingertips grazed the edge of one of his books, he quickly grasped all three; an interesting feat to behold given his petite hands. His attention only drifted up a fraction of an inch, focusing on the satchel that hung from his side as he deposited the books.
“ I normally am, there is just so many unfamiliar things… the market is so different every time I come here.”
Dieter retorted, his voice a soft whisper barely audible above the hustle and bustle of the market place. It was strange though, despite the faint trace of a smile on his face, one could hear the faintest hint of sadness in his voice. How long had it been since he’d last been in the market, perhaps a full cycle of the month or just a few days longer. His duties as a guardsman kept him bound to the Deku Palace, for him to have three days to himself was almost unheard of.

[attr="class","smdbody"]He took notice to the underlying sadness that had entered the boy's tone. "I see." His expression grew lax as he observed the nameless someone's visible display of bashfulness. Their fidgets and subtle motions that indicated their uncertainty of how to partake in the king's company was positively endearing. The averted gaze did not prevent the Zora from taking note of the fetching shading of the youth's eyes, thankfully. A touch of red now colored the pale flesh of their cheeks, causing Zitos's smile to grow sly. Such a response pleased him greatly. It suited the young male; for it had unintentionally exposed a portion of his loveliness to the royal's sharp gaze. "A suitable explanation," he continued, nodding. "This is my third visit here, little pearl - so I understand where your bewilderment might originate from." His head turned, taking in the sight of the market. Numerous individuals took notice to his presence, but most had the sense to avert their gazes in a polite or submissive manner after a moment of gawking. He exuded an air that was comparable to that of their dearly departed king and their newly acquired queen - and most had no intention of gathering his focus because of it. And perhaps his size also deterred them from making a spectacle of their wide-eyed stares. "How rude of me," he said, a quiet chuckle escaping him. "I've forgotten to properly introduce myself!" Zitos proceeded to stand at his full height, the royal armor that covered only portions of his form gleaming magnificently within the sun's light. Confidence oozed from him, both posture and expression meant to charm and impress in equal amounts. "You may address me as Zitos - King Zitos of the Zora." After a brief pause, and a moment spent gauging the youth's reaction, he knelt so that they were a touch more comparable in height. He had no intention of frightening the little one off so soon. The Zora's visit here had been a touch dull despite the information he had gathered so far. 初めまして。 Zitos’ retort was short, concise yet it affirmed that he understood Dieter’s fascination with his current surroundings. In that instance, Dieter’s head craned a fraction of an inch back towards Zitos, his gaze audaciously drifting upwards from the cobblestone beneath their feet. He purposefully brought his right hand up towards his face, utilizing the very tips of his fingers to brush aside a few stray hairs and tuck them behind his ears. All the meanwhile, his other hand had preoccupied itself with nervously twirling and untwirling a section of his unruly hair around his index finger. Zitos proceeded to explain that this was his third visit to Hyrule Castle, reaffirming that he understood the Deku’s bewilderment. Dieter followed Zitos’ gaze as it drifted around the market. He caught more than a handful of onlookers staring, however the moment Zitos’ attention turned in their direction most of them submissively lowered their gaze. It was understandable, they understood that the duos’ interactions were none of their business, not to mention the fact that Zitos’ towered over them was decent deterrent.
King Zitos soon realized his folly, he’d yet to properly introduce himself. His quiet chuckle was infectious, forcing the corner of Dieter’s lips to curve upwards in a discreet smile. He took a calculated step backwards, ensuring that he didn’t have to crane his head as sharply to make eye contact with Zitos. The aura of confidence radiating for Zitos was borderline palpable, it was clear that he felt no discomfort with their interactions. Dieter’s eyes in shock as Zitos’ confirmed his previous thought, introducing himself as Zitos – King of the Zora. Dieter’s hands fell to his sides, purposefully clutching a portion of his robes as he curtseyed. His head craned downwards for a fraction of a second, completing his offering of respect to the Zoran Nobility. “ My names is Dieter, a Dancer of the Deku Court.”
Dieter’s responded coyly, his voice barely raising above a hushed whisper. He felt no guilt for neglecting to mention that he was also a member of the Deku Palace Guard, such information was kept guarded. It was for that very reason, he’d elected to leave his precious spear back within his personal quarters. “It is an honor, to meet your acquaintance, King Zitos.”
Dieter carefully tacked on after a moment of careful deliberation. After yet another brief pause, Dieter mustered the courage to slyly inquire about Zitos’ presence within the Hyrule Castle.
“ King Zitos, I’m not keeping you from any business of importance am I?”
He’d chosen his word with care in an effort to nonchalantly gather information. It wasn’t necessarily a common occurrence for Royalty to leave their domain, unless it was for official business. The only recent events that he was aware of that could be counted as such was the passing of Hyrule’s King and the rise of the new heir to the throne. Alas, even though he stood by the Deku Queen and King’s side, he wasn’t necessarily privy to every ordeal that occurred behind closed doors.

[attr="class","smdbody"]His next words were purposefully vague. "My business is completed here, little pearl." The Zora's grin lessened slightly as he inwardly reviewed his day and the progress made in regards to this kingdom and its relation with his own. Nothing had changed, but that was to be expected. King Zitos's desire was only to observe the Hylian's present state - and he had made the important decision to take part in the mission himself. All appeared to be well, at least for now, in this town. Everything was at peace, with little conflict to worry over excluding the occasional beast which would mindlessly wander onto their fertile lands. The economy was thriving here, and evidence of bountiful trade was obvious. "I will be taking leave of this place in several hours or so," he drawled. After saying this he cast Dieter a genuinely a curious look. The dancer's manners were impeccable, and it was very clear that he knew his place. The little Deku had properly addressed him - acknowledging his title with a healthy show of respect and a subtle display of submission. Visibly pleased by such good manners, the king spoke with a warmth that heavily saturated his words. "I know very little of the Deku. Heh. I wasn't aware that they employed dancers to their court..." His eyes shifted to take in Dieter's petite build, and King Zitos was struck by the sudden desire to one day witness the youth twirl and move about in precise and elegant motions for his audience. "Perhaps I shall visit your kingdom so that I may be properly entertained, yes?" The king's voice presented itself as a low rumble, his eyes narrowing slightly as he took pause. "My guards - " his volume lowered slightly. " - they make for poor company, I fear. I would be very pleased if you accompany me for the rest of my stay here. I only desire conversation, of course. And... I shall compensate you for such a service. I wish to know more of your people, actually." There was a hopeful gleam in his eye, his facial features purposefully softening so to appeal to the little male. | [attr="class","smdlyrics"] strike [attr="class","mdlyric"]me down [attr="class","giveitlyric"]give it everything you've got |

Zitos’ purposefully ambiguous phrasing elicited a sheepish, knowing smirk from the curious Deku; the Zora King had safeguarded the nature of his affairs dutifully. However, it diminished ever so as he observed Zitos’ wide grin lessened, evidently he’d been displeased with the events that had transpired prior to their encounter. Zitos’ recovered seamlessly, exclaiming that he’d be taking his leave within the next several hours or so. Before Dieter responded, he paused momentarily as he made note of the curiosity present on Zitos’ face.
“Did I say something odd?”
Dieter wondered to himself, not verbalizing his inquiry aloud. Zitos’ willingly divulged that he knew little of the Deku culture, especially that their court elected to hire dancers. It wasn’t too farfetched, their sole duties were to provide entertainment to ambassadors from other tribes, liven the mood during their own festivities and holidays and lastly bring merriment to their people. Once more Dieter’s gaze shifted towards the ground, his cheeks reddening as King Zitos’ topaz eyes slid along his figure.
“Why am I so embarrassed? This isn’t any different from when I’m on the stage.”
Dieter reflected inwardly, uncertain if it was perhaps the increased degree of intimacy. Yes, perhaps that was it, normally he was observed by a crowd, very seldom was it a single induvial; never was it a complete stranger. Dieter replied to Zitos’ inquisition with unbridled enthusiasm.
“I’m certain, the King and Queen would welcome you with open arms, King Zitos.”
He craned his head in ever so slightly as Zitos’ voice dipped down, proclaiming that his guards made for poor company. Dieter couldn’t help but release a bout of bell-like laughter, stifling it with a curved ivory knuckle in front of his coral-hued lips. It wasn’t a guards’ duty to be good company, no it was their duty to serve as the sword for the weak, and the shield for the meek; they were protectors of their people.
“ I suppose that is more than fair, King Zitos, if it is within your means, accompany me to Lake Hyrule for the sunset.” Dieter’s request was an odd one, he could have attempted to monopolize Zitos’ kindness. Yet, the thing he desired was something that could be given freely by anyone. In truth, what he requested was only a fraction of what he truly desired, a taste of true freedom.

[attr="class","smdbody"]The Zora inwardly analysed such a request, a hint of surprise revealed as he tilted his head slightly - for it was quite pure in nature. The Deku did not desire anything of importance or great value, instead wishing only to partake in the king's company. "This is acceptable," he said. "... Dieter." The name rolled off his tongue smoothly, for he sought to remember the simple title for later use. He repeated it once more, in an absent fashion, whilst cataloging it within the confines of his mind. "Well, then. An agreement has been made." He stood, a pleased expression upon his face as he gestured for his little pearl to remain at his side. It was unfortunate that such a thing was temporary - but he had no legitimate claim upon the pretty youth. "Let us begin. I've actually..." And so the remainder of his stay in Hyrule Castle Town had been spent indulging in conversation and obtaining a select few items that the king wished to return to his domain with. His guards had completed the transactions, and tucked these precious purchases away within their packs before hastily returning to their duties. Zitos discussed his home with Dieter, going into detail about the Zora's version of the market and the items typically sold there. He helpfully mentioned that they traded very little, and that a majority of the items that were sold were products produced by his people. "The occasional trader comes about - but we've no official routes to lay claim to." The king then glanced skyward, humming quietly. "I believe it is time that we take our leave from here," he said. The corner of his lips twitched, curving upwards into a mirthful, heartwarming grin as King Zitos agreed to his peculiar request. His cheeks reddened ever so in response to King Zitos’ uttering his name, his embarrassment briefly intensifying as King Zitos quietly uttered his name once again. “Thank you, King Zitos.”
Dieter whispered softly as he responded to King Zitos’ gesture to draw closer. He hesitantly stepped closer, his attention shifting from the Zora King to his accompanying entourage. From his personal experience as a Guardsman, he knew his close proximity to their liege likely caused them innate discomfort; it broke numerous cardinal rules that they as protectors were trained to enforce.
“Of course, M’I Lord.”
Dieter retorted just before his companion began eagerly searching the wares of various stalls within the Market Place. Hours passed, each one filled with back and forth banter about their respective kingdoms, bouts of Dieter’s laughter, and periodic pauses to make purchases. Dieter had divulged that many Deku opted to travel to Hyrule City to sell their wares, which included numerous herbal remedies; The Deku Swamp had an abundance of plants with medicinal properties. Alas, they weren’t easily accessible to those who lacked the Deku’s unique, light-weight physiology. He’d also disclosed that they weren’t the sole inhabitants of their swamp either. At the entrance, there was an elderly woman that lead small boat tours throughout the less dangerous portions of the Swamp.
At one point, one of the Merchants ended up backing into the Deku Dancer, the difference in their weight sent him topping into King Zitos side. Dieter’s hands instinctively grabbed onto one of King Zitos’ fingers in an effort to stabilize himself. In that same instance, it truly dawned on him the vast difference in their stature. It’d taken his entire hand to wrap around just one of King Zitos’ fingers. A couple seconds passed before it registered that Dieter was still holding onto King Zitos’ index finger, he relinquished the finger.
“My apologizes.”
Fortunately, King Zitos didn’t seem to be bothered by it as he mentioned the time. The sun was slowly creeping down along the horizon, which meant it was almost time for the to head to Lake Hylia for his promised sunset.
“Yes, M’i Lord. I hope you enjoy, the gift I’ll give you in return for your kindness.”
Dieter made sure to whisper that last part, ensuring it was just low enough that Zitos’ guards couldn’t hear. But it did beg the question, what could his surprise be. He’d seldom left the Zora’s side for the entirety of their time together and if he did so it was for less than a few minutes at clip.
