Far from the hustle and bustle of the capitol - or, as it would be more appropriate to say, what remained of Castletown - rested the port of Windfall, a fairly new addition to the kingdom in the grand scheme of things. As it happened, the wandering fae found herself at the right place at the right time, though were it to be a meeting of complete chance or the hand of fate, she didn't venture to guess.
"Stop, thief!" The cry from an old woman drew her in. Ever the curious one, she made it in time to catch sight of a much younger fellow, most likely in his early thirties, dashing away from the central marketplace. The rupee-filled wallet most definitely did not belong to him if his gruff appearance spoke for him.
There were many situations where she fully condoned thievery. Stealing from the rich to give to the poor, needing to take bread to feed a family, things like that. But taking rupees from a woman who could barely walk? A quick decision needed to be made, and if she regretted it later, so may it be.
The boots she wore were made for comfortable walking, as was her dress, so suddenly dashing after the culprit didn't take all that much work. But it seemed that he wouldn't make it far because, by the goddesses mercy, he collided with a pink figure on the outskirts of the port.
Lycoris slowed to catch her breath, her mouth forming an 'o' of surprise. A smile broke out immediately. "Well, what do you know? Good job catching him!" Unintentionally still counted.
The thief didn't seem as pleased. MADE BY MEULK

IF MEMORIES ARE SHADOWS
we'd best not waste the light
Charity lived for the delivery trips requiring her to make long travels across the land. There was so much of Hyrule nobody could manage to see in a single mortal lifetime. Being a delivery girl made it all possible without becoming a rough and tumble adventurer. Sure, she had to risk her life and limb in order to get letters and packages around from destinations, but the benefit of having a job that travels works out. She just flew into Windfall with impeccable timing. By that she dropped in by the outskirts... only to be crashed into by a runaway thief.
The blush pink fairy let out an undignified yelp before she fell over. Her messenger bag became the epitome of a mess as the flap was open. All of the letters which came from her bag flew out, scattering around the ground by Charity and the thief."Oww..." she whined. "That hurts!"
She looked back at the perpetrator who crashed into her. Then back at the scattered letters and a couple of packages that escaped her bag. "Oh no! The letters! The packages!" she cried out. "Oh! Um excuse me mister, you should be careful where you're going. People get hurt if they don't look at where they're going."
Only at the last minute did it register in her head this man was a thief. A woman who’d been following him congratulated the delivery fae. "Ehh?! He's a thief?" she gasped, "Mister, why would you steal? That's not very nice. Well neither is crashing into me, nor making me lose all of my letters and packages." Not that it would amount to much, but she took the man by the wrists to prevent him from struggling too much. Her gaze returned to the woman who gave chase.
Her gaze lingered longer than a few seconds. Huh? Charity didn't fully understand it, but something about the woman felt familiar. Was this déjà vu? The pink fairy shook her head. "What do we do with him now?"

The man, who already started to have a pretty crappy day, growled in anger over having his wrists held by a much smaller figure. Surprisingly though, considering the sounds he made, he didn't make an obvious moves to escape, and started to bide his time instead. They'd drop their guard eventually!
Oh, poor thief. He had no idea that Lady Luck favored him more by letting him be caught now instead of after a fairy toyed with him senselessly. They weren't always known for being sweet, wholesome helpers, not at all.
The pulse of magic felt so familiar and warm that the brunette found herself pausing to give the pinkette a once-over, barely resisting the urge to clap her hands together in glee. It wasn't often that she encountered another fae outside of the protection of the forest - her people were loathe to venture away from the Kokiri they bounded to - and as such feeling that thrum of pure mana stirred her. It wouldn't surprise her if the other noticed it as well.
"I say we tie him up by his toes until he repents. How rude of him, making a mess for you on top of his earlier crime." Lycoris clicked her tongue, wagging her finger in a 'tsk tsk' motion. "Leave him there for a few days and see if his mood is better after that."
Another growl came from the thief who, realizing his chances were running out, threw his weight against Charity in an attempt to catch her by surprise and knock her off balance. He couldn't waste more time listening to their prattle! Charityngl it is painfully tempting to make a homura fc'd character now c': MADE BY MEULK

The brunette really did feel familiar. Had Charity seen this lovely woman before? Goddesses, she couldn't recall a time but the nagging feeling was still there. Her eyes widened at the suggestion Lycoris proposed. "Oh my! That sounds rather mean," she stated the obvious, "But he did steal and tried to run away. He did run into me and made this mess. That still hurts too. I think the punishment is suitable for the crime."
Before she could continue on with her tangent, she felt the thief stirring and then moved aggressively to get her off of him. Another humiliating yelp squeaked out of her as she held on for dear life. Most would try to let go out of panic, but Charity did the complete opposite. He was the only thing keeping her from completely falling flat onto the ground. "Mister, mister! Please don't struggle so much-" Her sentence was stopped with a very audible THUNK! Their foreheads collided with each other.
Charity could've sworn she saw multiple little fairies in ball forms floating around above her head. She whined once more before plopping herself on top of the thief. "Owwie. That's going to leave a bruise." Just when the thief couldn't have expected his situation to get worse. Karma had a creative way of sliding in a bit of it's taste when an oblivious little fairy is involved. "You really should be more careful mister," she continued her lecture, "You should return what you stole and say you're sorry. Stealing only hurts people. I wouldn't mind if you helped me clean up this mess too. Pretty please with lots of faerie dust on top?"

Poor thief. All he wanted to do was make some quick rupees and be on his way. Why had he been cursed to run into (literally) an annoying pink chatterbox while being chased by a brown-haired brat?! Agh! On top of that, now his head wouldn't stop pounding with pain! Hilariously enough, the man looked almost relieved when he heard a whistle from a short distance away, which was followed by two guards shouting at the small group.
Lycoris let out her own low whistle before taking a few steps back. No longer putting up a fight, the thief merely let out a low curse and muttered for the girl to get off him. The guards drew closer, though they didn't brandish their weapons. The first of them, a short robust man with a midsection that barely fit in his uniform, cast Charity a worried look. "You alright, ma'am? Hurt anywhere?" The other, much taller and thin, snorted and glared at the thief.
"Stringing him up by his toes would've been more interesting," Lycoris lamented, sighing heavily. But now a problem arose. If they lingered too long, they could get caught up in a greater mess as witnesses, and judging by the number of strewn items, the other female was quite busy.
Clearing her throat, she offered a way out. "Oh no, look at the time! You're going to be late if we stay here much longer. To make up for it, let me help you." Hopefully that would get the message across easily enough. Last thing she wanted was to be questioned for hours on end by two guards. This was turning out to be a disappointing closure. Charity was really hoping she could talk him into helping rather than trying to resist. It was the least he could do since he started and made the mess. Her head continued to throb with a gentle ache from when their heads bonked into each other. Though it looked like the thief practically gave up on anything at this point. The guards had already made their way over to the scene. The pink fairy got up onto her feet and dusted her uniform off. Custody of the thief was taken from their hands. "Why yes, I'm okay! Nobody's hurt."
The pretty lady who gave Charity déjà vu had insisted they leave the scene immediately. The pink-haired puff ball didn’t quite understand it but her instincts kicked in telling her to follow along. "O-Oh! Yes, I can't be late. I have a busy schedule ahead of me. Mail duties call. Bye bye guards! Bye bye thief. Be nice now." Trusting those feelings, she scrambled over to pick up as many of the scattered letters and small packages.
Once all of the delivery items had been picked up, secured into her messenger bag, she motioned for the brunette to follow her. Into the town the two of them went! "It was very brave of you to chase after the thief. You were like a super hero doing good for the people."

With her back pressed against a white-stone, ivy-clad wall, Lycois let out a deep breath and bowed forward with her hands on her knees. "I really didn't want to get caught up in pointless questioning... sorry about that." As much fun as she would have had harassing the thief for awhile longer, being harassed in turn by two men doing their job sounded downright dull at best and miserable at worst.
But... brave? Hm. That hadn't been something she considered at all.
Sheepishness crept into her tone. "The lady he stole from looked so upset. I didn't really think it through before following him, I just wanted to help her a little bit. She'll be able to get her money back now and hopefully he'll gain some incentive to be a better person after spending a few days in holding somewhere." From what she gathered, the Windfall prison was actually not that bad. Rehabilitation worked most of the time rather than severe punishments. Or so she told herself.
Straightening, she tucked a tendril of hair behind her ear and forced herself to relax farther. "I'm mostly sorry that you got tangled up in it - literally, at that! Are all of those packages for people in Windfall or were you on your way to another part of Hyrule?" Charitytake all the time you need to post, hun! I don't mind waitin' for you +^+~ MADE BY MEULK

"It's quite alright. The look of the guards' faces were funny!" she replied with a impish giggle. They looked dumbfounded as the little wisps for ladies took off into the wind with no looking back. Gracious that sounded like a grand scene from a tale of old. It didn’t quite suit Charity but a girl could dream. If they stayed any longer then there’s no telling when she’d be back on her mail schedule.
And hopefully the thief will learn from his mistakes. If he didn’t then there’s no guarantee the same thing won’t happen again for him. Maybe not for Lycoris or Charity but there were other bumbling accidents waiting to happen out there to cross his path again. At least, the pink-haired one was pretty sure there was.
"It's perfectly okay. It really is. No real damage was done!" she said in a cheerful exclamation. "And you were correct with your first guess. My delivery route for today is Windfall. I'm the only one who can reach it in a timely manner these days. You know, given the great distance between here and Castle Town." Her smile dimmed at the mention of Castle Town. What a terrible mess it was. She gripped onto the messenger bag tightly. "A lot of people from the Capital wrote to contacts and relatives here. Most of them I don't doubt are asking for all the help they can get."

The cheer of the pinkette felt, to be honest, quite refreshing. She came across as the sort who forever would be a little ball of energy ready to take on the world. It was cuter, very cute, and the urge to pick her up and nuzzle her furiously threatened to overcome her. Just like a small puppy, exactly like that.
"I imagine there are more letters than can be handled flooding from the capitol right now. Wanting to ask for assistance, wanting to let family and friends know they are alright, wanting to purchase supplies from farther places..." She trailed off, biting down on her lower lip. It would take many, many weeks for the destruction to become less of a reality and more of a memory. All she could do was work to put some pieces on the board in motion.
Dieter Wolfram of the Deku. If she judged her timing right, he'd make it to the mountain by the time the group from the capitol made it there. Would they be smart enough to start putting two and two together, and find a way to utilize the talents of those who would gladly assist them?
So much work to do, so much to protect. It'd be exhausting work in the coming seasons.
"By the by," she murmured, "I've been dreadfully rude. My name is Lycoris; apologies for forgetting to introduce myself properly." She looked around, humming thoughtfully. "Windfall's a growing place. How do you find all of the places to deliver the letters? Do you just look around or is there some special trick to it?" As much as she hated to admit it, Charity acknowledged time was of the essence for Hyrule to begin feeling the effects of healing from the damage done to her. A nod of agreement was given in response to the abundance of letters filtering out from Castle Town. "It's tragic, isn't it? Ordon, Kakariko, and now Castle Town destroyed. It's a little ironic, it's easier to destroy something than it is to make. Easier to hurt than it is to heal. Time is the same way. Wounds will heal but not as quickly as fire would burn a house to the ground." Charity quickly realized she was rambling depressing tangent. She shook her head. "That was too much. We shouldn't talk about sad things. I'm sorry!"
In light of the change of topics, the pink powder puff blinked at the realization they never introduced themselves. Laughter tore from the back of her throat at how silly she was. "It's very nice to meet you Lycoris! My name is Charity. Delivery fairy at your service." The question as to how she got around to finding where everyone lived and all, she smiled and pulled out one of the letters from her bag. Upon it Lycoris would be able to see special symbols and glyphs on it.
"With writing letters as the current method of communication between long distances, mail couriers need special text or symbols. So carpenters build them into buildings and houses," she explained, "Houses of higher social classes are easier to find and so are local businesses. Lower classes are trickier but usually once you've found one house, it's easy to go down the list."

"No apology needed. Sad things are just as much a part of life as happy things are. To dwell on them is to learn from them, to remember them is to pay respect to what has happened." Living a life free of stress, pain, and misery wouldn't be done. But a person could take it all in and try to better themselves, improving from what they once did in order to paint a better future for the days that followed.
Charity, hm? What a fitting name for someone who spent her days doing a great service to others. She'd most definitely remember their meeting, because coincidences and chances were fun twists of fate.
"I never noticed that. It would make it easier than asking around to try to find a person from word of mouth..." Despite her relatively long life, she'd be embarrassed to admit there were many things she still didn't know the answer to. Having any idea how mail carriers function? Yeah, that was one of them. But maybe that was understandable; she'd never been one for sending or receiving mail when she could instead pay a surprise visit.
"How about this? I'll help you, because I have far too much time on my hands today, and learn a bit about your job along the way, and after it we can stop by for a tasty treat before going our separate ways. Sound like a deal?" MADE BY MEULK

IF MEMORIES ARE SHADOWS
we'd best not waste the light
Words of wisdom flew from the brunette’s lips like lyrics to a song which resonated to Charity’s heart. For a moment, the mail courier had to take a double take to make sure she was talking to a young woman. Her appearance, fair and radiant like a maiden in spring, deceived the voice she carried. A voice of somebody who was blessed by time. "I never thought of it that way," she uttered softly. "That's actually very sound outlook. You're very wise, Lycoris." To live is to continue moving forward. But moving on meant learning what has been encountered in the present so a person knows better for the future.
A beaming smile appeared on the pink fairy’s mouth. She never got the chance to talk about her work with people. Though that was arguably understandable when she’s constantly on the road. "Delivering mail may not seem much, but I think it's a little romantic in a unique way. I mean, if someone you care about is far away and you can't fly like Fairies or Oocca, then how else would you reach out to them? Writing letters to me feels like trying to let your affection touch across the distance." Charity had the galaxy sparkling within her eyes as she went on that tangent.
She was willing to help? A petite palm went up to her mouth to cover her surprise. She wasn't doing a good job at hiding it. "That's very kind of you! But goodness gracious, I don't want to impose on you." But the promises of a tasty treat at the end of the route? It was a futile war to wage as she knew she couldn’t resist the opportunity to grab something sweet. Windfall did have places that provided yummy sweets. Drats. "Well....." she dragged out her reply. "Four hands can get route done faster than two, right?"

Trying to let your affection touch across distance... that, that right there she liked the sound of. If she ever found herself meeting someone who would enjoy passing letters and trinkets back and forth through the mail service, she'd consider staying in one place for more than a few days at a time to wait for something to arrive. It most certainly sounded appealing when Charity put it that way, and truth be told, it made a part of her heart ache for those younger days when she did have someone to send her affection to, no matter how great the distance was.
That made her sound like a jaded old lady, didn't it? Ah well, such was how things went, and while she wouldn't put it that way herself, even she had to admit her heart grew colder without any fire to keep it stoked. The trade off was insight and knowledge that could be passed on, and sometimes she liked to believe it was a fair trade.
But it really wasn't.
"Four hands will get it done much faster." Laughing, Lycoris spun around to end up behind Charity, and pushed her forward gingerly with two hands on her shoulder blades. "Besides, it is not imposing if someone asks you, darlin'." Onwards to mail delivery and treats! IF MEMORIES ARE SHADOWS
we'd best not waste the light
Over the course of the delivery route, Charity would explain how it worked and how the symbols and glyphs on each letter corresponded with the buildings to residential houses, local businesses and the like. It functioned like a pattern to keep it as organized as possible to every section of Windfall. Charity had always enjoyed going on her deliveries because the travel was wonderful. But after she showed Lycoris the ropes on how it’s done, it made the tasks a lot quicker and more fun! It was a bit of trial and error for the first half but soon enough they were zooming through the letters and packages like nothing!
As the hours went by and they were steadily wrapping up the delivery route, Charity couldn’t stop the nagging feeling in the back of her head. Something deep inside kept yelling at her a strong sense of familiarity about Lycoris. But this was the first time they’ve met. The pink fae has yet to encounter another of her kind to understand the thrums of magic that pulsed when meeting another.
"Lycoris, I have a question to ask," she approached the topic finally, "Do you believe that people may have known each other but don't really know yet? Like they were perhaps... fated to meet?" Like there was a connection there she didn’t quite understand. Perhaps there was a reason why everything happened?

The inquiry brought a smile to the fae’s lips, one that lingered after she finished speaking. “There are invisible threads that connect people together. Some will guide us to people our souls once knew and others will help us find people we need to meet. For some reason or another, we enter the lives of those who need us during that time. Partings may occur, but the forged bonds leave traces in our hearts that return us to them. Yes, I believe strongly in fated meetings and things that are simply meant to be.” It was a double sided situation, because for as much as she loved the doings of fate, the will of mankind could change things greatly.
A nearby cafe offered boxed lunches with small cakes for dessert. Taking the offer up in sheer glee, the brunette quickly purchased two and ushered for Charity to follow her. A few winding paths led them to the outskirts of town once more, and with a ripple of magic, she took to the air, her billowy wings appearing in full view. “Food and a view? I think so.” Only once she landed on top of the wall did she hide her wings once more, the magic glamor taking hold.
She turned, winking at the pinkette. “Coming?” Charityfinally edited this phone post, hyrk! MADE BY MEULK
