[/b] Hi, and welcome to the first boss fight of this site. If you're reading this you either are taking part in it or got referred here to understand how boss fights work. While it would be ideal if you read the entire thread, hopefully you can get an idea from the admin posts. The moon, full and bright, shined over the small forest of Ordon, illuminating it in a pleasantly dark blue, save for the small patches that the moon's light could not reach. However, if the light of the moon could not be reached, then man would take care of that themselves, having erected torches throughout the area to illuminate the path. Crickets could be heard chirping as well as the occasional rustling of foliage as small creatures moved through brushes and branches. It was, for all intents and purposes a peaceful night, one that would be uneventful for all involved. Until it got eventful anyway. As things went quiet, all around, a beast the size of a cougar leapt out of the forest and onto the road. A strange creature seemingly made of wood, with flowers blossoming on its back. While it looked lanky, who knew how sharp those wooden claws and teeth were? It began to pad down the path, headed towards Ordon village. SELOSLION OF THORNS Alexander Elessar @open (any but twili) @open (any but twili) @open (any but twili) @open (any but twili) Admin Note: For the purpose of this tutorial, my character Alexander will be taking part. Do note that this is an exceptional circumstance. Staff characters will never take part in a boss fight controlled by the same staff member barring exceptional circumstances. In this case, Alex is here because it's the tutorial. For every round after this, Alexander will post after everyone else or a minute or so before the deadline.[/font][/ul][/div][/blockquote][/td][td] F L O W E R S [/td][/tr][/tbody][/table][/div]

When everything went quiet, it raised an alarm, causing Alexander to stir from his slumber. A natural instinct to let one know that something bad was on its way. Getting himself dressed, he slipped on his vest and buttoned his shirt. He strapped his sword onto his belt and hesitated briefly at his bow. He couldn't shoot well in the dark, but maybe with the torches, it might help. Grabbing his knife and hatchet as well, he set out to see what was causing all the problems in the wild on what was once a comfortable, peaceful night.
As he approached the road, he managed to get a good look at the beast that was causing this. A creature made of thorns and bark. Well, it might have been good that he was in the area when this thing had showed up, camping out in the woods. Of course, the problem was that he was alone, against this thing, with no help on the horizon. He mentally sighed, his bow was going to be virtually useless against that thing. An arrow wouldn't really do much against its lanky build, not that he knew anyway.
Instead, he silently unsheathed his magic sword, causing it to glow with soft blue light as he prepared to fire a magic blast from it. [attr="class","link"] Moonlight flooded the through the small window of the house he comfortably called home, bathing his blanket and disheveled hair in rays of softness. As the light progressed further and further, he began to stir, unable to sleep through the flood that decided to penetrate his dreams. At first he refused to give in to it, desiring nothing more at that moment than to keep sleeping, but a peculiar inkling at the back of his consciousness refused to allow him the solace that rest provided. Within minutes he rose, forcing down the grumpiness that often plagued him when rising before the sun. It'd be a long day tomorrow, one with a nap around midday, if he had any hope of making it until the next time his body hit the mattress. The familiarity of the dirt path wandering through the village didn't help anything at all. With Epona currently in the care of a certain stubborn-as-a-mule blonde village maiden, he couldn't easily go for a night ride to cure his troubled mind, either. Frustration worried his brow, knotting it together. Why did he feel so uneasy? Why did the night feel so painfully, peculiarly wrong? Was it mere intuition or the prelude of a storm? Light. Blue light. Curiosity gripped him as it often did, leading him to silently approach it. Only when he was close--perhaps too close, all things considered--did the situation begin to unfold. A strange creature moved a fair distance ahead, making its leisurely way toward the village. A figure bearing the light kept out of the way, as if prepared to do something at any moment's notice. He picked the one that seemed safer to approach, making his presence known by raising his hand. Staying as silent as possible, hand on his wooden sword, he approached the stranger, keeping low to the ground. "Hail, friend," he said softly in a lightly accented tone, showing clearly his village roots. "Do you know what that is?" [attr="class","smdbody"]The king served as an unusual sight when situated among the flora and foliage of the Ordon Province. Surely someone of his position should be settled comfortably upon his throne - leaving such diplomatic exercises to his subordinates. Yet Zitos remained stubborn - believing, quite firmly, that he should be well-learnt in regards to the lands outside the confines of his kingdom. Ignorance simply would not do, and he was willing to partake in the hardships that came about with travel. For several months now he had been taking these ventures, leaving a portion of his responsibilities to his counsel while he remained absent. His people naturally worried, thinking it foolhardy of him to take part in such journeys. But he assured them that all would be well, for his ability to survive within such unpredictable environments should not be questioned so openly. Two guards, each characteristically stoic and observant of their surroundings, were situated near. The trio had discovered a river several hours ago - the waters a touch shallow but relieving them immensely as their skin came into contact with the cool liquids. The large Zora relaxed against the river's bank, his form partially covered by its comforting contents. His eyes were shut as he concentrated upon what he must do and how long it would require for them to return home. Several days, at the longest. If the weather wasn't intolerable, they could manage that much without issue - "Your Majesty?" His eyes opened slightly, his displeasure at being interrupted clear. "There is a disturbance not too far from here. A strange creature - quadrupedal in shape - is wandering a short distance away." King Zitos remained visibly uninterested by the warning, allowing for his eyelids to lower further. "And how does this concern me?" "It is approaching the village." "Ah. I'll assume you think of it as a threat to their people?" "Yes, Your Majesty." King Zitos mulled over this for a moment before nodding his head. "Both of you will remain here; I will see to this disturbance." - - - - King Zitos would soon emerge from the nearest wood line, a curious gleam in his eye as he took notice to the scene playing out before him. The unfamiliar sight of the beast that was composed of wood, thorn and vine was strange. But its small size did little to impress him and he soon felt a touch of disappointment because of it. "So this is the threat my guards spoke of? How 'amusing'," he muttered, a frown forming upon his features. His narrowed gaze soon settled upon the strangers whom were gathered to dispatch the menacing beast of mysterious origin. Are they inhabitants of the nearby village? 初めまして。
A faint, content smile played at Dieter’s coral-hued lips as he inhaled deeply through his nostrils, breathing in the Forest’s essence; it was as enticing as an aphrodisiac. He silently relished the sensation of the grass beneath him, welcoming the tickling sensation as it brushed across his soles. His head craning to the left to acknowledge the presence of a rabbit that had emerged from the underbrush, the duo eying each other with evident apprehension. However, before Dieter could kneel down to the ground and beckon to the hare, it burst back through the underbrush as the entire Ordon Woods grew unnaturally silence; something was amiss. Dieter’s vibrant, aquamarine eyes narrowed decisively as his right hand drifted towards his left hip, the very tips of his fingers tentatively stroking the pummel of one of his daggers. The Palace Guard remained motionless, his eyes cautious scanning his surroundings for any potential threats. A full minute had elapsed in silence, nothing moved in the surrounding brush and Dieter couldn’t sense the presence of another living entity. Whatever had disturbed the natural order, it wasn’t lurking nearby as far as he could discern.
His right hand shifted from the pummel of his dagger to the shaft of the polearm that was bound to his back. With a quick, precise flick of his wrist, he brandished his polearm with a singular, fluid motion; this was the product of nearly thirteen years of training. His eyes fluttered shut as his lips in silent chant, he was mentally reciting the incantation for his own magic Dryad’s Domain . In spite of the fact that Dieter’s eyes were clenched tightly shut, he could see the world around him in far more detail. Now, he could sense the roots hidden beneath the earth, the animals that cowered in their burrows, and more importantly the presence of another. Whoever, he’d detected was actively on the move, creeping silently through the woods likely in search of the disturbance. Dieter tightened his grip on the haft of his spear before he sprinted after the unknown pursuer. Dieter’s own movements were borderline spectral, despite having broken out into a full-blown sprint, he managed to move in utter silence; a perk of his races’ unique lightweight physiology.
Once Alexander came to a stop, Dieter stopped a handful of feet away, pressing himself flush against a tree. He felt his clarity slowly fading away, it signaled the rapidly approaching end of Dryad’s Domain . However, in the last few seconds, Dieter managed to detect the presence yet another two inhabitants. The more concerning of the two was the quadruped that was casually sauntering along the main road. Dieter kept his eyes closed until his vison returned into an abysmal darkness, only then did he dare crack his eyes open. His head craned to the left, where he could see that unearthly creature walking down the main road, it appeared to be made of nothing more than vines, branches and bark. How was it alive? Dieter pondered before shifting his attention to his other company.
He could see the faint glow of Alexander’s blade, which illuminate bits and pieces of his features. A few seconds passed before he could make out Link’s features as well; neither appeared particularly malicious. Yet Dieter still didn’t approach them, instead he proceeded to move silently away from them, quickly moving through the adjacent tree line in order to get ahead of the quadruped. Once he’d managed to gain some distance, Dieter emerged from the tree line stepping into the beast’s path. His spear held firmly in his hand, brandished and poised to strike or defend himself should it charge.
” What manner of beast are you?"
Dieter spoke softly, his voice a mere whisper in the night. If the other’s chose to inspect him, they’d note that Dieter was clad only in thin, sheer fabric which had a few ornate, decorative adorations. What they likely couldn’t see was the two daggers that were holstered on either side of his hips though.

"Shouldn't take too long now, but it's already well into the night that entire villages are resting. Maybe I should have just stayed in that tavern for the night. No. I honestly rather spend an entire night walking home then to stay a night in a filthy establishment like that. The gods only knows what goes on in those things." Yuki said thinking aloud to himself while looking at his map that he held in both of his hands. Picking his head up, he examined the pathway before him then took another look at his map. According to his guide to the area, it shouldn't be less then half a mile before he reached his home.
With the moon light to illuminate his path, he confidently made his way down the dirt path expecting to be in his clean bed a bit after the moon reached its peak. His horse would have helped greatly, but she was currently in the care of his mother after being dealt a bad injury. No matter. She deserved a break from carrying him everywhere anyway.
The young boy narrowed his eyes seeing a small light in the distant of his path. At first, he thought nothing of it, but his mind kept telling him to stay clear of this. As if his life was endanger. After getting closer, he ducked behind a tree peaking his head out in order to watch what was happening. "What? What is that creature?" He whispered to himself making sure no one heard him.

[/b] Very good. We can now begin in earnest. THERE IS NO POSTING ORDER, save Alexander posting last or just before the deadline. The creature paid no mind to Alexander, Link, or Roja. Likely because they had managed to remain hidden perhaps. Or perhaps it viewed them as no thread and simply carried onward. The other two however had made their entrances clear. One walked from the wood line and made itself known. The creature seemed to bristle at the Zora, getting ready to attack. An aggressive, territorial creature. Its "tail," if it could be called that, began to swish back and forth, slapping against the dirt and kicking some up. However, its attention was stolen away from the Zora by the new arrival, directly stepping in its path to Ordon and seemingly challenging it. One seemed relaxed, the other seemed prepared. Selos looked at the two before focusing on Dieter. It seemed that when faced with a smallish Deku and a giant shark monster, the creature would rather pick on the little guy. Sorry, Dieter. Realizing that it was in danger, it reacted. It let out a screeching howl, like a rusty nail being dragged down a chalkboard, and it moved. Running at Dieter at a speed beyond the natural limits of an animal, it stopped, turning to the right, and slid briefly, kicking up some dust in front of Dieter. From there it bounded forward, digging its wooden claws into the dirt to act as an anchor when it landed, using it to turn left once, and then left again, in a lunge aimed at Dieter's side. All in less than a second after it kicked up the dust. Admin Note: Normally bosses are timed, but for this I waited for it to fill up first. The timer will now begin. [attr="class","smdbody"]King Zitos's narrowed gaze swiveled toward the bristling creature, having detected its intentions to lunge toward his large frame with malicious intent. Unperturbed by the obvious threat, the Zora merely flashed a pleased grin in response. It was likely that the abomination sought to dispatch the most threatening among their hastily put together group. And King Zitos made for an excellent choice due to how obvious - What. The royal individual's expression immediately flattened as the wolf-plant-thing promptly veered its attention elsewhere and lunged in a merciless fashion. It showcased its favoritism as it sought to bear both tooth and claw against the petite Dieter. Had anyone chanced a glance in Zitos's direction at that moment they would notice the smallest of pouts forming. It was quickly wiped away and replaced by a small frown as he released a quiet huff and removed his trident that had once been secured upon his back. Admittedly, the king wasn't meant for superbly quick movements outside of the water. But he was strong, and capable of inflicting severe damage. "I shall remain idle - to serve as an obstacle if it attempts to escape into the village." The blunt side of the trident was stamped firmly into the ground, the king silently observing the conflict from his position. He felt little worry for the lot, for they all appeared quite competent when it came to the art of combat. [ king zitos preps his trident for use ]

初めまして。 Dieter’s aquamarine eyes grew cold, their characteristic warmth replaced by an unnerving steely edge; one that bore into the very depths of ones’ souls. Meanwhile, Dieter’s outward demeanor remained calm, effectively concealing the fact that his heart had begun fluttering excitedly within the confines of his chest. His excitement only grew in intensity as Selos’ issued his ghastly, ear-splintering roar, effortlessly dispelling the momentary silence its’ presence had caused. The corner of Dieter’s lips twitched upwards, a telltale sign that he was fighting back the urge to smile as the abomination charged forward. One couldn’t deny that its’ speed was leagues above its wolf brethren. Dieter’s hands instinctively grasped his spear with renewed intensity; a clear display of the impact his years of training had upon him. Once it was almost in Dieter’s striking range, it abruptly pivoted to the right. Although, Selos had pivoted, his generated momentum pulled him an extra fraction of an inch further, purposefully kicking up a cloud of dust that swallowed Dieter in his entirety. What a cleaver creature, Dieter thought to himself.
Dieter proceeded to widen his stance marginally, lowering his body and the tip of his spear towards the ground. His hind leg slid outwards in a wide arc behind him. It was an odd gesture, but it was one he’d done to discreetly spread out approximately four Deku Nuts on the ground behind him. It wouldn’t amount for much as a defensive measure but it’d at least alert him if Selos approached him from behind. His eyes apprehensively scanned from the left to right, searching for some semblance of Selos’ within the cloud. Unbeknownst to Dieter, Selos was circling around to strike one of his flanks. By sheer luck, Dieter managed to a catch a glimpse of its’ rapidly encroaching form. Unfortunately, Dieter didn’t have enough time to reposition himself to counteract its’ strike and thus was forced to go on the defensive. He’d wordlessly pivoted his upper body, while bringing his right arm upwards. This motion positioned his spear diagonally across his chest, creating a makeshift, momentary buffer against Selos’ onslaught. Dieter’s calves tightened as he shifted a majority of his weight to his heels, preparing to push off and propsel himself backwards.
It wouldn’t do much aside from alleviate a fraction of the predicted impact. His lips tightened in a scowl as he retreated, his motions weren’t quite nimble enough to avoid the charge in its’ entirety. The resulting impact radiated throughout the entirety of his arm, forcibly pushing the shaft of his spear into his chest. The sheer force behind his blow managed to knock the wind out of him, forcing him to take pained, breathes. He’d quickly realized that if he’d received the full brunt of that charged, it’d likely have snapped his spear in two and sent him toppling to the ground. This realization forced Dieter to take a few cautious steps backwards, further retreating behind his line of deployed Deku Nuts. [attr="class","link"] Everything happened so quick that for a moment it felt as if he were merely watching a play put on by the village children. Several people--all of which he owed his immediate thanks for preventing the creature from entering his hometown--made their move and began to act, taking on either defensive or offensive positions. Judging by the look of the Zora, the wood-like entity would be hard pressed to make it by him without difficulty. The problem became more and more apparent as seconds ticked by. With the sword he brought, any amount of damage would be painfully negligible. It might serve well in practice or basic combat, but with the thing they were up against, something stronger... something more... more like... Got it. "Keep it distracted! I've got an idea," Link broke away from his hiding spot, indicating his presence to those who weren't already aware of it. The zora, the boy who was charged at, and the one he first saw... but was anyone else there? For the time, Roja's hiding spot seemed to work wonders. He ran toward the one blocking the path toward the village, looking up at him briefly to nod as he moved toward the woods. How fast would he be able to find what he needed? If it only took a minute or two, he'd spend the next several days thanking the goddesses for blessing him with such luck. [attr="class","ohlove"] both were silent. there were ways for kicking and screaming. "Not a clue." Alex remarked to the newfound Hylian. There was a sense of relief in seeing him. However, seeing that he wielded only a wooden sword, if it could even be called that, wasn't exactly the most reassuring thing. Right now, Alex possessed the most firepower out of anyone there. But then others started to show up. More allies in the nick of time? How thoughtful of the goddesses. At least until they decided to do their own thing, in their own way, and Alex realized that things were a little scattered right now.
So people showed up, and then nothing? The Hylian lad said to keep it distracted while he ran back to the village. The giant Zora just stood there grinning. That Deku though, may the goddesses bless him, he meant well. Disagreed with him on the matter of confronting the beast, but he at least tried to do the right thing. It was more than he'd been expecting, but it also disappointed him that there was no coordination, and as a result, this little guy was in some trouble. Shooting the Hylian a bewildered look as he ran back to the village, Alexander realized that it was all on him if anyone was going to help the Deku.
Stepping out onto the road, he shot the Zora a look that just could only be described as sheer disappointment. He was content to stay behind and let others die for him for the sake of "guarding the road?" That was what they were doing now. Seeing the Deku and the creature having separated for just a moment, he took his chance and he swung his sword once, and the blue glow faded, flying out in a crescent aimed right at the beast. He would let the Deku know in his own way that he was most definitely not alone in this hour.

Selos let out a low growl as it approached Dieter, having the only other predator in the area content to ignore it and do nothing. It stepped on one of the Deku nuts, and sure enough there was the blindingly bright flash that accompanied it. However, Selos was not deterred in the least. The lack of eyes to blind was undoubtedly a factor to begin with. It saw the Deku weaken, and its prey would be that much easier to bring down. Hunkering down for but a moment, it sprang forward with a lunge, ready to knock the Deku over. Or at least that was the plan. The glowing blue blast of magic that slammed into its side put an end to that. Selos was knocked onto its side and rolled to regain its balance. It effortlessly regained its footing, whipping its tail into the dirt as it let out another low growl. Admin Note: While it might seem neat to wait for your chance to fight it one on one. The truth is teamwork is going to be what's needed. No one can fight a boss by their lonesome. Even Link would be most likely killed by Selos if he tried. The blast itself didn't seem to do much damage, leaving only a minor marking on the wood. Admin Note: Clearly, just battering Selos isn't working like one would hope. In Zelda tradition, there's usually something that resembles a weakpoint. Try checking Selos's design/picture out back in the first post. Maybe you'll find something that could be considered a weakpoint~ Its attention on the Deku lost entirely. It began a full sprint and lunged at Alexander. Intent on tearing him a new one for distracting it. Alexander Elessar Link @zitos Dieter Wolfram @yuki [/font][/ul][/div][/blockquote][/td][td] L I O N

[attr="class","smdbody"]The king was genuinely entertained by such a spectacle - for he had been granted the opportunity to bear witness to the little Deku's and the visibly discontent human's prowess in combat. His gaze remained fixed upon the sight before he allowed his focus to temporarily shift toward the Hylian whom had just passed him. Peering over his shoulder, he could not help but wonder what the little male had in mind.
"Hm?"
In the midst of observing the fray, King Zitos allowed for himself to search within the confines of his memory. Never before had he witnessed such an abomination, but he was reminded of his mother's teaching regarding deadly beasts and formidable opponents.
'Everyone and everything - no matter how powerful - possesses a weakness.'
Yet the king's pride would not allow for him to intervene - not at the moment - at least. His intentions were to witness not partake if he could avoid - still, he wondered -
"I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try."
He raised his trident, his skill at throwing relied heavily upon at that very moment. With everyone moving about, he feared harming another. Zitos, admittedly, preferred to indulge in combat with little help. His size coupled by the lengthy reach of his weapon often forced him to flit his attention from his target to his comrades so to avoid potentially harming them.
'Its body is hollow,' he thought. 'And I'm uncertain if poison resides within its body. I won't be using my claws nor my fangs for this.'
He tensed his body, allowing for his muscles to coil as he aimed.
'It's tail digs into the very earth. Perhaps I could sever it? Or perhaps I may, at the very least, injure its hindquarters.'
The trident soon flew through the air and toward the beast.

初めまして。 An indignant gasp escaped from between Dieter’s lips as he took a particularly deep inhale, uncertain if the impact had potentially fractured one of his ribs. His teeth ground against one another in agitation, actively resisting the fresh wave of pain that overtook him upon exhalation. Selos’ undeterred advance furthered unnerved Dieter, his face growing more pallid as the beast tread upon his deployed Deku Nuts; unhindered by the blinding flash of light they produced. Dieter sucked his bottom lip in, his teeth clamping down upon the meaty portion of his lower body as he began to manipulate something within himself. Beneath his robes, the veins that lined his lithe arms began to bulge grotesquely under his ministrations. These unexplained movements were caused by a portion of his sap being relocated to the palm of one of his hands, in preparation of his next bombardment. His attention remained fixated on Selos’, mentally preparing himself for its’ onslaught as it began to hunch down. His left hand sliding from the shaft of his spear, only the tips of his fingers in contact with the wood. Fortunately, the beasts’ intended charge was disrupted by a sudden burst of azure flames forcefully colliding with its’ side.
The resulting concussive force sent the beast sprawling onto its side. His aquamarine orbs traced its’ movements, momentarily flickering towards the towering Zora blocking the beasts’ original path. His eyes narrowed decisively as he watched King Zitos haft his trident and brought his arm back, his muscles tensed in preparation for tossing his weapon. Dieter’s lips curved upwards into a malicious grin as his attention returned to Selos, whom had managed to right itself. Its’ skeletal body turned away from Dieter and turned in the direction of Alexander. Before it could propel itself forward, Dieter’s left hand extended and globules of a sticky substance shot out, it possessed enough momentum to splattered in Selos’ direction. At this range, only a couple of sticky droplets might get on his joint. However, that was perfectly fine, Dieter’s true objection was to paint the strip of ground in front of it. A few random landed just a few inches from his own feet as well. He was unsure if he could do much else of use for the time being. He began to cautiously inch his way forward, opting to keep his polearm at the ready. If needed, he intended to intersect it’s charge at Alexander.
“Break its momentum! Restrict its’ movements.”
Dieter shouted aloud to the other combatants. It was a tactic that could effectively turn it into a war of attrition; they’d only need to bide their time until they found its’ weakness. Dieter’s eyes scanned its’ form. It lacked eyes, it had no visible flesh to speak of, and when it was struck by Alexander’s blast it hadn’t suffered much damage. The only thing that seemed out of place on its’ skeletal body was the numerous flowers that decorated it. Why were they so vibrant, brimming with life, when the rest of its’ body was a husk?

[attr="class","link"] Sounds of battle from behind him tugged at his gut, filling him with a sensation of uncertainty. While he might not have been able to do much without a more useful weapon, leaving behind others didn't settle well with him, either. The only relief came from knowing that if he managed to do what he set out to do, he'd be far more useful to them than he was in his current state. It took him too many precious seconds to find what he needed. Two long, thick sticks and a small pile of tinder were quickly gathered. He made sure the breeze wouldn't blow the light mound away, then set to tearing a piece of fabric from his tunic off with his teeth. A fallen branch and the cloth would serve well as a makeshift torch. How much damage could fire do to the creature? With it seemingly made of wood, the idea made sense to him. Not like he had a lot of experience dealing with monsters, but... it wasn't outside the realm of possibility, was it? Getting the fire started with friction from the two sticks wasn't exactly hard, though it wasted even more time on his end. Once the first ember appeared, he gently passed it on to the pile of tinder and blew delicately to spur it on, and mentally cheered in victory once it sparked fully to life. Soon enough, his makeshift torch was complete, and he stomped on the small fire he made to get it started so it wouldn't spread to nearby bushes and trees. He began the trek back toward the fight. Hopefully, just hopefully, someone discovered something.
